Best Hinge Alternatives in 2026 (Honest Picks)
The best Hinge alternatives in 2026 are Bumble if you want the same relationship-minded crowd in a bigger, verified pool, OkCupid if you want matching built on questions about values and dealbreakers, and Coffee Meets Bagel if you are tired of sorting profiles and want a small batch each day. Pick eharmony if you are ready for marriage, and Facebook Dating if you refuse to pay anything at all.
Below: ten apps like Hinge side by side with what each costs on the US App Store (checked October 2026), why people leave Hinge in the first place, which "alternatives" are really Hinge’s sister apps, and what to do with your Hinge subscription before you delete anything.

Why people leave Hinge
Hinge is not a bad app. On the US App Store it has 4.4 stars from 1.1 million ratings (October 2026), and I rate it 4.5 out of 5 in my Hinge review. People who search for apps like Hinge usually have one of these reasons.
- The free likes run out. Hinge’s help page on subscription benefits says free users "can send only a select number of likes per day", get one free Rose a week and one Undo a week. In my Hinge review the free cap was eight likes a day, the "8 rule" people ask about.
- You see your likes one at a time. Free users view "one incoming like at a time", according to Hinge’s Likes article. Seeing everyone at once, unlimited likes and filters such as height, politics and family plans need Hinge+ or HingeX.
- Prompt fatigue. Every profile is photos plus written prompts, and every like works best with a clever comment. Some people love that. Others are tired of performing their personality in three answers.
- The pool feels thin. Hinge is popular, but it is not the biggest app. In Pew Research’s 2022 survey of US adults, 46% of online daters had used Tinder, 31% Match, 28% Bumble and about 20% Hinge.
- It still feels like a feed. Hinge does not use left and right swipes, but you still scroll profiles one after another, like or skip. If what you hate is browsing, any app built on a feed will feel the same.
Pick the Hinge alternative that fixes your reason for leaving
Start from what bothers you about Hinge, not from the app with the biggest marketing claim.

- If the like cap is the problem: Facebook Dating, which Meta says is free with no features to unlock, or Coffee Meets Bagel, where likes in your daily batch are free.
- If you are tired of sorting profiles: Coffee Meets Bagel’s noon batch, or Breeze if you live in New York City and want the app to book the date.
- If you want deeper matching: OkCupid for questions and dealbreakers, eharmony for a compatibility quiz.
- If you want more people near you: Bumble, or Tinder if you do not mind a more casual crowd.
- If you are over 35 and want to search yourself: Match.
- If monogamy is not the point: Feeld.

1. Bumble: the closest swap for Hinge
Bumble is the app most people try next, and it is the most similar audience: adults who want a relationship, on a swipe format. The big 2026 change is that the women-message-first rule is gone. Bumble’s help article on how conversations start says both people now get one opening message: you have 72 hours from the match to send it, the other person has 72 hours to reply, and the match expires if nobody writes. Everyone gets one free Extend a day, per the expired matches page.
Bumble’s edge over Hinge is verification. Its photo verification page says the selfie check is mandatory in the USA and you cannot skip it.
What it costs: swiping, matching and messaging are free. Bumble’s paid features page lists Boost (unlimited likes, Rematch, Backtrack, 5 SuperSwipes a week), Premium (adds seeing who liked you, advanced filters, Incognito and Travel Mode) and Premium+. The App Store listing shows Boost items from $2.99 to $12.99 and Premium items from $17.99 to $32.99, with 4.3 stars from 1.77M ratings.
Who it suits: Hinge users who want more profiles and fewer catfish. The catch: it is still a feed of faces, and the timer punishes people who check the app once a week. My Hinge vs Bumble comparison goes through every difference.
2. OkCupid: best for matching on what you believe
OkCupid matches people on how they answer questions about values, lifestyle and dealbreakers, and its paid tiers let you set dealbreakers you will not bend on. It is the alternative for people who find Hinge’s three prompts too shallow. Its help center says messaging is free once two people like each other.
What it costs: OkCupid also limits free likes per day, as its page on like limits admits. Its subscriptions page says Basic is no longer sold to new members; Premium adds unlimited likes, seeing who likes you and 3 SuperLikes a week, and Premium Plus adds Priority Likes and read receipts. On the App Store, Premium items cost $7.99 to $59.99; the app has 4.3 stars from 289K ratings.
Who it suits: people who want to filter on politics, religion, kids or monogamy before the first message. The catch: it has the same like cap you are trying to escape, and it belongs to the same company as Hinge (more on that below).
3. Coffee Meets Bagel: best if you are tired of sorting profiles
Coffee Meets Bagel sends you a curated batch of potential matches every day at noon, picked from your preferences and past likes. Its help article What is Coffee Meets Bagel? says liking, passing and chatting with your suggested matches are free for anyone 18 and over. You can mark a preference as a dealbreaker, so the app never shows anyone outside it.
What it costs: CMB’s Premium and Platinum page lists all your likes in Likes You, Bonus Bagels, 8 flowers a month, filters for height, education and family plans, and read receipts; Platinum adds Priority Likes, an always-on boost and Incognito. On the App Store, a 1-month Premium costs $34.99 to $39.99, 3 months $74.99 and 1-month Platinum $46.99 to $54.99. That makes it one of the pricier apps here per month.
Who it suits: people who feel Hinge turned dating into a part-time job. The catch: the small batch is the point, so it is slow, and CMB itself warns that strict filters and dealbreakers mean fewer suggestions over time.
4. eharmony: best for marriage-minded daters
eharmony makes everyone take its Compatibility Quiz before seeing matches. Its quiz page says most people finish in about 20 minutes, with questions on personality, communication style and attitudes to relationships. Then it suggests matches instead of handing you a feed.
What it costs: eharmony’s cost page says Basic membership is free with no time limit and lets you view matches, send Likes and a first message, with limited messaging. Premium comes in 3, 6 or 12 month plans, and prices are shown only after you log in. On the App Store, eharmony Basic items run $59.99 to $179.99 and Premium light $179.99 to $349.99, for multi-month plans; the app has 4.1 stars from 49K ratings. You can try it from its official site.
Who it suits: people who left Hinge because they want marriage, not dates. The catch: you pay for several months at once, so it is the most expensive commitment on this list. My Hinge vs eharmony comparison covers who each one suits.
5. Match: best for over-35s who like to search
Match is the oldest name here and has a reputation for an older, relationship-minded crowd. Its help page on subscription packages says free members can chat with every match, rate up to 50 profiles a day in Recommended and explore curated profiles. Paid tiers go Bronze, Silver, Platinum and Diamond, on 1, 3, 6 or 12 month packages that auto-renew and are charged in full upfront.
What it costs: the App Store listing shows items from $19.99 to $129.99, with a 1 Month Standard at $44.99. It has 3.9 stars from 243K ratings, the lowest score of the big apps here.
Who it suits: daters over 35 who want search filters and read profiles more than they swipe. The catch: the full search and see-who-likes-you features sit behind the paid tiers. See my Hinge vs Match comparison.
6. Facebook Dating: best free Hinge alternative
Facebook Dating lives inside the Facebook app. Meta described it in September 2025 as "a free dating experience within the Facebook app" and said hundreds of thousands of 18 to 29 year olds in the US and Canada create profiles every month. It added a dating assistant you chat with to refine your search, and Meet Cute, which pairs you with a surprise weekly match you can opt out of. Your dating profile is separate from your main profile, you must be 18 or older, and Secret Crush lets you pick up to nine Facebook friends or Instagram followers.
Who it suits: anyone who left Hinge over the paywall. The catch: you need a Facebook account, and Meta does not publish how many people use it near you.
7. Breeze: best for skipping the chat, if you live in NYC
Breeze has no chat at all. Its FAQ explains that when you match, Breeze arranges a first date at a partner bar, and you pay only when you go on a date, usually €10 to €15 or the local equivalent per date token. The App Store listing says new picks arrive every day at 7 PM, there are no ads and no subscriptions, and it has 4.3 stars from 608 ratings.
Who it suits: busy New Yorkers who hate texting strangers for a week. The catch: Breeze’s city list shows 102 cities in 7 countries, and New York City is the only one in the US. Everywhere else in America, it is not an option yet.
8. Tinder: best if you only want a bigger pool
If your only complaint about Hinge is that you run out of people, Tinder is still the biggest app: it has 1.76M ratings on the App Store (4.2 stars) and was the app most US online daters had used in the Pew survey above. Swiping, matching and messaging are free; Tinder Plus is listed at $9.99 and Gold from $13.99 to $24.99.
Who it suits: people in smaller cities, and anyone open to casual dating. The catch: less context before you match, and a more mixed crowd. My Tinder vs Hinge comparison spells out the trade.
9. Feeld: best for open, queer and curious daters
Feeld is built for non-monogamous people, couples and queer daters. Its free membership lets you browse, connect, send chats, photos and short videos, and link your profile with a partner’s. Majestic, its only paid tier, adds unlimited likes, seeing who liked you, Incognito and one free Ping a day. On the App Store, Majestic costs $29.99 for 30 days, $49.99 for 90 days or $149.99 a year (4.3 stars, 102K ratings).
Who it suits: people who left Hinge because they want something other than a conventional couple. The catch: it is the wrong app if you want monogamy. Want more like it? See my Feeld alternatives.
10. EliteSingles: for educated singles, with a caveat
EliteSingles targets "educated and ambitious singles", and its homepage claims 85% of members are highly educated and every profile you see is verified. The App Store listing says new profiles go through a review before going live.
The caveat: this is not the EliteSingles most reviews describe. Its current service agreement names SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc. as the operator, after the old owner shut the site in April 2026, and the app has only 254 App Store ratings (4.0 stars). The same agreement gives you three business days to cancel for a refund and sells monthly, 3-month and 6-month terms. The full story is in my EliteSingles vs eharmony comparison.
Leaving Hinge for its sister apps
Here is what no list of Hinge alternatives tells you: several of them are owned by the same company. Match Group’s company page lists Tinder, Hinge, Match, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish, HER, The League, Upward and OurTime among its brands. The App Store seller for both OkCupid and Match is Match Group Americas, LLC.
Does that matter? A little. The apps are run separately, with their own members, subscriptions and help centers, so moving from Hinge to OkCupid does give you a different pool and a different format. But the business model is the same family: a free tier with a daily cap, paid tiers to see who likes you, and boosts on top. If you are leaving Hinge because of the paywall, an app from another company (Bumble, Coffee Meets Bagel, eharmony, Feeld) or a free one (Facebook Dating) is the bigger change.
Which Hinge alternatives verify people
If fake profiles drove you off Hinge, look at what each alternative actually checks. From each company’s own pages, October 2026:
| App | What it checks | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Bumble | Selfie matched to your photos, automated plus human review | Yes, in the USA |
| Match | Video selfie with a liveness check and face matching | With your consent, for a Photo Verified badge |
| Breeze | Live selfie for a blue check; dates held at partner bars | Screening for all users, per its listing |
| EliteSingles | Team review of each new profile before it goes live | Yes |
| Hinge | Video selfie with a liveness check, for a Selfie Verified badge | Voluntary (a Face Check is required in certain regions) |
Sources: Bumble’s photo verification page, Match’s Photo Verification page, Hinge’s Selfie Verification page, the Breeze FAQ and App Store listing, the EliteSingles App Store listing. No badge replaces a video call before you meet. My list of the safest dating apps compares the full safety tools.
What switching actually costs
The prices floating around the top Google results are out of date. CNET’s list, last updated April 2025, puts Coffee Meets Bagel at $9 a month and Tinder at $8; the US App Store today lists a month of CMB Premium at $34.99 to $39.99 and Tinder Plus at $9.99. Use the table at the top of this page, then check the price inside the app before you tap buy.
Three things decide what you really pay:
- Plan length. Match and eharmony charge longer plans in full upfront, so the "per month" price is not what leaves your account. Match’s help center says this plainly, and eharmony sells Premium only in 3, 6 or 12 month plans.
- Auto-renewal. Every subscription on this list renews unless you cancel, usually at least 24 hours before the renewal date on Apple and Google.
- The free option is real. Facebook Dating is free, and Bumble, OkCupid and Coffee Meets Bagel all let you match and message without paying. Use the free tier for two weeks before you buy anything, and if paying is the deal-breaker, see my list of completely free dating apps.
Before you delete Hinge: cancel the subscription first
If you pay for Hinge+ or HingeX, deleting the app does not stop the charges. Hinge’s page on adjusting or canceling your subscription says that if you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, "deleting the Hinge app or your account does NOT cancel your subscription". Cancel at least 24 hours before your renewal date, which Hinge says Apple, Google and its own Stripe billing all require.
- iPhone, paid through Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Hinge, Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play Store, your profile, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Hinge, Cancel.
- iPhone, paid through Hinge (Stripe): cancel through Stripe with the email address that receives your Hinge subscription emails. Here, deleting your Hinge account does cancel the subscription immediately, and you lose the time you already paid for.
- Then delete your account if you are done, or keep it while you test another app: your paid perks run until the end of the period you paid for.
The same rule applies to the alternatives: Coffee Meets Bagel’s cancellation page warns that uninstalling the app or deleting the account will not cancel a subscription, and Bumble lists separate steps for Apple, Google and card payments.
Or stay on Hinge and change how you use it
Sometimes the fix is not a new app. If you like the people on Hinge but hate the limits, spend each free like on a profile you would genuinely message, comment on a specific prompt instead of liking a photo, and use your weekly free Rose on the one person you are most excited about. If you are switching because conversations die, my guide on how to start a conversation on a dating app works on every app here.
Other apps the lists mention
A few names come up in the top results that I did not rank. Raya and The League are application-based apps for a narrower, career-focused crowd. Happn matches people you crossed paths with, which works best in dense cities. AI matchmaker apps such as Soulmate and Sitch skip profiles and feeds entirely, but they are new, so check that they have members near you before you pay for anything. For every other "X instead of Y" question, start at my dating app alternatives hub.
How I ranked these Hinge alternatives
I ranked by how well each app fixes the usual reasons people leave Hinge, for US daters who want a relationship. The research is public information: each app’s pricing and help pages, its US App Store listing, its terms, and the Pew Research data linked above, all checked in October 2026. Ratings come from my existing reviews of each app, linked in the table; where those reviews come from my own use, they say so. A commission never moves an app up this list.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best alternative to Hinge?
For most people it is Bumble: a similar relationship-minded crowd, a bigger pool and mandatory photo verification in the US. Pick OkCupid if you want matching on values and dealbreakers, Coffee Meets Bagel if you want a small daily batch, and eharmony if you want marriage.
Does Hinge work like Tinder?
Not quite. On Tinder you swipe on photo cards; on Hinge you scroll full profiles and like a specific photo or prompt, optionally with a comment that opens the chat. Both are owned by Match Group and both cap free likes, but Hinge profiles carry more context.
Is Tinder still popular?
Yes. Tinder has about 1.76 million ratings on the US App Store (October 2026), more than any other app on this list, and in Pew Research's 2022 survey 46% of US online daters had used it, more than any other platform.
What are the most popular dating apps in the US?
In Pew Research's 2022 survey of US online daters, the most used were Tinder (46%), Match (31%), Bumble (28%), then OkCupid, eharmony and Hinge at about 20% each, followed by Grindr and HER.
What is the male to female ratio on Hinge?
Hinge does not publish one, and any exact split you see online is an estimate. Pew Research found that men are more likely than women to have used a dating app (34% vs 27% of US adults), so most mainstream apps lean male.
Does deleting Hinge cancel my subscription?
No, not if you pay through the App Store or Google Play. Hinge's help center says deleting the app or your account does not cancel those subscriptions, so cancel in your phone's subscription settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
