Best FetLife Alternatives in 2026 (Honest Picks)
The best sites like FetLife in 2026 are Fetish.com and its FET app if you want the same mix of forums, events and messaging, Alt.com if you want an actual kink dating site with search by role, and Feeld if you are kink-curious or poly and want a modern app. Gay and bi men into gear should look at Recon, and if you want everything free, Fetster and Collarspace still are.
Below: the alternatives side by side with what each really costs (prices checked October 2026 at the App Store or in my original reviews), why so many “different” kink sites are the same company, which old recommendations no longer work, and the safety rules that matter more on kink platforms than anywhere else.

Ratings are out of 5 and come from my reviews, linked in each row; Recon, BeeDee and Collarspace have no review on this site yet. Prices checked October 2026, each source linked in the sections below.

Why people look for a FetLife alternative
FetLife is still the biggest kink community online, and in my FetLife review I rated it 3.5 out of 5: mostly free, messages included, with an optional Supporter membership at $5 a month ($30 for 6 months, $60 for a year). The problem is not the price. The lists and forum threads ranking for this search keep coming back to the same complaints:
- It is not a dating site. FetLife is built like a social network, with a feed, groups, writings and events. There is no matching and no swiping, so people looking for a partner have to work for it.
- Inbox floods. Women and submissive members describe getting buried in unsolicited, pushy messages soon after joining.
- Bans without answers. User reviews on directory sites describe long-time accounts locked with no explanation and slow support.
- No store app. My FetLife review notes there is no FetLife app on Google Play or the App Store; you install it as a web app from your browser. Older lists that mention an “Android app” or a “beta” are out of date.
So the right alternative depends on which of those bothers you. If it is the lack of matching, go to a dating site. If it is the moderation, go to a smaller community. If it is the app, go to something that lives in the app stores.
Pick by what you used FetLife for
The quickest way to choose is to think about what you actually did on FetLife, then go where that thing is done best.

- If you used it for groups, forums and munches: Fetish.com and its FET app.
- If you used it to find a play partner: Alt.com for the biggest search, BeeDee if you want matching by role done for you.
- If you are kink-curious, poly or a couple: Feeld.
- If you are a gay or bi man into gear: Recon.
- If you will not pay anything: Fetster or Collarspace, plus the Reddit communities below.
1. Fetish.com and FET: the closest thing to FetLife
Fetish.com is the one alternative that copies what FetLife does well: it is a community first, with dating on top. Its homepage lists free sign-up, free messaging, chat and a forum, city pages for munches and events in the US, UK and Canada, a list of kinks and fetishes, a BDSM personality test and a BDSM training school. The footer names the operator as Ideawise Limited in Hong Kong.
Here is the detail none of the ranking lists connect: FET, the app people ask about, is the same company. The FET app on the App Store is sold by Ideawise Ltd, has 4.3 stars from 25K ratings, and describes a newsfeed, messaging, forum, live chat, local meetups and free profile verification (October 2026). So if you searched for “apps similar to FET”, the app and the website are two doors into the same place.
What it costs depends on the door. In my Fetish.com review I listed Premium on the website at $9.90 for one month (down to $4.49 a month on longer plans) and VIP at $16.90 for one month. The FET app’s own description lists its subscription at $18.49 for 1 month, $63.99 for 6 months and $90.99 for 12 months in the US. Same community, very different price, so if you plan to pay, compare the website checkout first.
Who it suits: people who liked FetLife’s forums and events but want an app and actual dating tools. The catch: my Fetish.com review rated it 3 out of 5, noting that profile verification is offered but not widespread, so plenty of profiles are unverified.
2. Alt.com: best for kink dating
If what you wanted from FetLife was a partner, not a feed, Alt.com is the dating site the scene has used since 1995. My Alt.com review rates it 3.5 out of 5 and found the most search filters of any site I have reviewed, available for free, plus chat rooms, a “My Kinks” list and a BDSM glossary for beginners. It is part of FriendFinder Networks, which lists Alt.com among its sites on its corporate homepage.
Prices from that review: Silver is $19.95 for one month, $35.97 for 3 months or $99.97 for a year, and Gold is $29.95, $59.97 or $149.97. Paying is what lets you view and contact members properly; the free account is for looking around. You can find it at Alt.com.
Who it suits: people who know their role and what they are into and want to search for exactly that. The catch: the interface is cluttered and dated, and my Alt.com review flagged a suspicious profile copied from another site. Pay for one month first, not a year.
3. Feeld: best for kink-curious and poly daters
Feeld is not a kink site, but it is where a lot of younger, queer and non-monogamous FetLife users ended up, because it is a real app with real profiles and nobody judges what you put on them. On the App Store it has 4.3 stars from 102K ratings and offers 20+ gender identities and 20+ sexualities; Majestic Membership costs $29.99 for 30 days, $49.99 for 90 days or $149.99 for a year (October 2026), and adds seeing who liked you, private photos and one free Ping a day.
I rated it 4 out of 5 in my Feeld review, and couples can link their profiles there. Who it suits: people exploring kink alongside other things, singles looking for couples and couples looking for a third. The catch: it is less BDSM-deep than a dedicated site, and it is app-only. More options in this space are on my swinger dating sites page.
4. FriendFinder-X: best for explicit, casual meetups
FriendFinder-X is the hookup end of this list: explicit photos and video, live streams, groups, and a kink search. My FriendFinder-X review rates it 3 out of 5 and lists Gold at $14.95 to $27.95 a month, which is what you need to send messages, with credits sold separately for tips and gifts. It has photo verification and ConfirmID, and no store app. You can find it at FriendFinder-X.
Who it suits: singles and couples who want casual meetups and are fine paying for them. The catch: it is a general adult site, so you will filter past plenty of people who are not into kink. More options are on my hookup dating sites page.
5. BeeDee: best for matching by role
BeeDee answers the most common FetLife complaint, “I have to read every profile to find out if someone is a Dom or a sub.” Its app page says every member takes the BDSMTest at sign-up and matching uses those results, so Doms see subs, subs see Doms and switches see switches, and you can loosen that if you want. Signing up, swiping, matching and messaging are free, and it runs on iOS, Android and the web.
On the App Store it has 4.0 stars from only 88 ratings, and Premium costs $19.99 a month, $44.99 for 3 months or $59.99 for 6 months (October 2026). The listing’s release notes add Incognito and Travel modes for supporters. Who it suits: people tired of role mismatches who live in a big city. The catch: 88 ratings tells you the crowd is small, so outside large metros you may run out of people fast.
6. Recon: best for gay and bi men
For gay, bi, trans and curious men into gear, leather, rubber or pup play, Recon is the home base, and it does events the way FetLife does. The App Store listing describes profiles where you pick up to five interests from 30 kink and fetish categories, “cruises” instead of likes, private image sharing and a fetish events list; memberships cost $12.99 for 30 days, $29.99 for 90 days, $49.99 for 180 days or $89.99 for a year (October 2026). It is run by T101 Limited.
Who it suits: men who want fetish to be the starting point of a profile, not a line at the bottom. The catch: the app has 2.2 stars from 493 ratings, and the free tier limits what you can see. For broader gay apps, see my Grindr alternatives.
7. BDSM.com: Alt.com’s sibling
BDSM.com works much like Alt.com, with a black-and-red design, “My Kinks”, a purity test, blogs and chat rooms. My BDSM.com review rates it 3.5 out of 5, notes that it belongs to the same FriendFinder Network, and lists Silver at $8.33 to $19.95 a month and Gold at $12.50 to $29.95 depending on plan length, with uploading photos, messages, search and chat rooms on the free tier. There is no app.
Who it suits: people who like Alt.com’s format and want a second place to post a profile. The catch: read the next section before you pay for both.
Alt.com, BDSM.com and FriendFinder-X are the same company
None of the lists ranking for this search mention it, but it changes how you should shop. FriendFinder Networks lists AdultFriendFinder, Alt.com, Cams.com and Passion.com on its own homepage, and the FriendFinder-X footer says it is operated in the US by Various, Inc., under the FriendFinder Networks name. My Alt.com review and BDSM.com review both found them in the same network.
In practice that means:
- Same layout, same features. “My Kinks”, Bling, Hot or Not, testimonials and ConfirmID turn up across these sites because they share a platform.
- Same billing habits. Prices sit in the same bands, and plans renew automatically. Turn off renewal in your account settings as soon as you buy, and you keep access until the end of the period.
- Pick one, not three. Paying for Alt.com and BDSM.com at the same time is rarely worth it. Choose the one whose crowd fits you (Alt.com for kink dating, FriendFinder-X for explicit casual) and stop there.
The same logic applies to Fetish.com and FET, which are one operator, Ideawise. When you count FetLife alternatives, you have fewer real choices than most lists suggest.
8. Fetster: best completely free option
Fetster is the only site here with no paid tier at all. Its homepage calls it “100% free” and “free forever”, with unlimited messages, search by kink and interests, groups, photos, videos, blogs and forums. My Fetster review rated it 3 out of 5: detailed search and verified badges, but an old-looking site, no app, and explicit photos with no warning.
Who it suits: people who liked that FetLife cost nothing and want a smaller, calmer place. The catch: a free site has to pay its bills somehow, and my Fetster review raised questions about data use. Share as little personal information as you can.
9. KinkD: a swipe app, but check the link
KinkD is a Tinder-style kink app. The App Store listing, sold by Dominant Life Limited, shows 4.3 stars from 2.4K ratings, an 18+ rating, VIP purchases of $12.99, $33.99 and $53.99, and a “masquerade” mode where profiles stay masked until you choose to unmask (October 2026). The listing does not say how long each VIP plan lasts, and it renews automatically unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
One warning: in October 2026 the kinkd.com web address was a parked domain marked for sale, not the app’s site, even though older lists still send people there. Install it from the App Store only. My Kink D review rated it 3.5 out of 5. The catch: it is iPhone-only, and profile depth varies a lot.
Free kink communities that are not dating sites
Part of what people miss about FetLife is simply community. These cost nothing:
- Collarspace is one of the oldest BDSM sites. Joining is free, its search filters by role (Dom, sub, switch), orientation and what people are seeking, and it has forums and a safety page. It looks like the early 2000s, and there is no app.
- Reddit has r/BDSMcommunity, r/BDSMdating and r/askBDSM. You get an anonymous username and active discussion. Each subreddit has its own rules, and dating subreddits draw scammers, so read the sidebar before you post.
- Munches in your city. A munch is a casual meetup in a café or bar, in normal clothes. Fetish.com lists them by city, and many people use FetLife only for its events calendar while dating elsewhere.
What sites like FetLife really cost
Most lists quote one price per site, often from an old checkout. Here is what moves the price, from the official listings and my reviews (October 2026):
- App store vs website. FET’s app subscription is $18.49 a month, while my Fetish.com review found the web Premium plan at $9.90. Always check both.
- Plan length. Recon drops from $12.99 for 30 days to $89.99 for a year, and Alt.com from $19.95 a month to $99.97 a year. Pay monthly until you know the site works where you live.
- Free that is really free. Fetster and BeeDee let you message for free; Alt.com and FriendFinder-X keep contact behind a paid plan.
- Auto-renewal. Every paid option here renews. In the app stores, cancel in your Apple or Google subscriptions at least 24 hours before renewal; on the websites, turn it off in account settings.
Cheapest way in: start with Fetster or the free tiers of Fetish.com and BeeDee, and pay for one month of Alt.com only if you need its search.
Safety on kink sites
Kink dating asks you to share more, sooner, with people you do not know. A few rules matter more here than on mainstream apps:
- Use a scene name and a separate email. Keep your face, workplace and city details off your public profile, and share uncropped photos only with someone you have vetted.
- Test a small no. Decline one small request early and watch the reaction. Someone who sulks or pushes over a photo or a meeting time will not respect bigger limits.
- Video call, then meet in public. Confirm the person is who they say before meeting, meet somewhere public first, get there on your own, and tell a friend who you are meeting and when you will check in.
- Never send explicit images to someone you have not met. The FBI’s IC3 warning on sextortion says victims often first met the scammer on a dating site or app, were moved to another messaging platform, pressured into sending explicit images, then asked for money to keep them private. It counted over 16,000 complaints and more than $8 million in losses in the first seven months of 2021 alone. If it happens, stop replying, do not pay, keep the messages, and file at ic3.gov.
- Never send money. The FTC’s romance scam guide lists the signs: wanting to move off the platform quickly, never being able to meet, and asking for money by wire, gift card or crypto. Report scams at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the site where you met.
Every site above has a block and report function; use it, because moderators on kink sites rely on reports more than on automated screening.
What about Ashley Madison and AdultFriendFinder?
Some lists include Ashley Madison for its privacy tools, and it does let you blur photos. But BDSM is a side category there, not the crowd. If discretion is your priority because you are in a relationship, my Ashley Madison alternatives page covers that properly. AdultFriendFinder is FriendFinder-X’s bigger sibling and has kink search too, but it is the same company and model as above, so pick one. For more kink-specific options, my BDSM and kink dating sites page has the full category, and the dating app alternatives hub collects every “sites like” page.
How I ranked them
This ranking is based on public information, not new hands-on use: each site’s homepage, App Store listing and help pages (checked October 2026), plus the ratings from my original reviews where they exist. I ranked first what replaces FetLife most completely (community and dating together), then the best dedicated dating options, then the free and niche ones. Recon, BeeDee and Collarspace are not rated because I have not reviewed them; their position reflects their official listings and how well they fit people leaving FetLife.
Frequently asked questions
What are some apps similar to FET?
FET is the app of Fetish.com, run by the same company, Ideawise. Similar apps are BeeDee, which matches people by BDSM test results, KinkD, a swipe-style kink app on iPhone, Feeld for kink-curious and poly daters, and Recon for gay and bi men into gear.
What is the best free alternative to FetLife?
Fetster is the only kink site here with no paid tier at all: messages, groups and search are free. Collarspace is free to join, and Fetish.com and BeeDee both let you message for free, with optional paid plans.
Is there a FetLife app?
There is no FetLife app on the App Store or Google Play. You install FetLife as a web app from your phone's browser. If you want a kink community that lives in the app stores, Fetish.com's FET app is the closest match.
What are some popular kink social media sites?
FetLife is the biggest. After it come Fetish.com with its FET app, Fetster and Collarspace, plus Reddit communities such as r/BDSMcommunity and r/askBDSM. Recon plays that role for gay and bi men into fetish.
Where can I find kinky partners?
Alt.com has the deepest search by role and kink, BeeDee matches you by BDSM test results, and Feeld suits people exploring kink alongside other things. Local munches, listed on Fetish.com and FetLife, are the safest way to meet people in person first.
What's better than AFF for kink?
Alt.com and BDSM.com are run by the same company as AdultFriendFinder, so they share its pricing model but have a crowd that is there for kink. If you want a different company altogether, Fetish.com, BeeDee and Feeld are the main options, and Recon for gay and bi men.
