    Bumble Review

    User Rating 4 / 5
    Bumble logobumble.com

With summer coming to a close, it begs the question of who am I going to spend the holidays and cuffing season with?? I heard about Bumble a looooong time ago, but recently my friend was talking about the Bumble app at brunch and reintroduced me!

    What is the Bumble app?

The Bumble app is a free dating app that embraces a feminist approach to dating. Co-founded in 2014 by Whitney Wolfe Herd (she also co-founded Tinder!), Bumble was branded to give women more control while creating a safer dating environment. The biggest difference from Tinder is that women must send the first message.

Who is the Bumble dating app for exactly?

While technically for everyone, it's perfect for women who worry about being bombarded by creeps. Women must send the first message, creating a safe space for single ladies. Plus, it puts less stress on the guys!

Is the Bumble dating app Legit?

Bumble has over 100 million users and is one of Tinder's closest competitors. Pretty much all of my girlfriends have either heard of or tried it. They're even trading publicly on the NASDAQ since February 2021!

    Quickie: How does Bumble work?

For heterosexual matches, the woman needs to make the first move. If she doesn't after a match, the connection disappears after 24 hours. Either person has first move privileges in same-gender matches. Once the first move is made, the other person has 24 hours to answer back.

The TL;DR on the Bumble app

Similar to Tinder in swipe mechanics but definitely different! You get 25 likes per day. No read receipts. Can be used for dating, finding besties, or business networking. Available as an app and on desktop (Bumble Web).

Steps to register and sign up

The sign up process is thorough with 30+ steps! Sign up via Apple, Facebook, or phone. Add location, notifications, name, photos (2 minimum), DOB, gender identity (very inclusive options), dating mode, who to date, relationship goals, email, ethnicity, interests, height, exercise, zodiac, education, drinking/smoking habits, children preference, religion, politics, profile prompts, and agree to be kind.

    What search filters are available?

Every member can filter by gender, age, and distance. Premium subscribers get Advanced Filters for horoscope, workout frequency, smoking habits, etc.

    Is Bumble free?

Yes! Bumble's app will always be free. Free features include messaging, matching, swiping, one extension per day, audio/video chat, and speed dating game. Premium costs $29.99 + tax and includes unlimited likes, Beeline (see who likes you), incognito mode, travel mode, unlimited backtrack, and SuperSwipe.

What set the Bumble app apart?

    • Speed dating game: Thursday nights 7-8pm, 3-minute blind chats.
    • Extend a match: Extra time past the 24-hour cutoff.
    • The Question game: Ice-breaking conversation starters.
    • SuperSwipe: Show extra interest (Premium).
    • Spotlight: Jump to the top of views for up to 150 minutes.

Final Bumble review thoughts: Is Bumble worth it?!

I'd give this a resounding yes! I definitely like the feminist approach to help eliminate constant DTF messages. My inbox has never been happier and more absent of d*ck pics — plus, I made some great connections. I also really love the speed dating game since so many apps are based on looks alone. If messaging first doesn't scare you and you love being more in control, def give Bumble a try!
