Best Gay Dating Sites for Older Men in 2026 (Honest Picks)
The best gay dating sites for older men in 2026 are Daddyhunt, if you want a gay app built around mature men and the younger guys who like them, SCRUFF for the biggest pool with events and travel, and eharmony or SilverSingles if you want a boyfriend your own age on a slower, relationship-first site. Taimi suits men who want the whole LGBTQ+ community, GROWLR suits bears, and Stitch suits men over 50 who want friends and outings first.
Below: nine picks ranked, what each one really costs (App Store prices checked October 2026), which senior sites actually let men look for men, and the scams that target older gay men in particular.
Gay dating sites for older men compared
Ratings are out of 5. Where I have a review, the rating comes from it and the row links to it; the others are rated with the same rubric, explained at the end of this page. Prices are from each app’s US App Store listing or official pricing page, checked October 2026, linked in the sections below.

Which one should you pick?
Start from what you want, not from the biggest member count. Most men do best with one gay app and one slower site at the same time.
- If you want a boyfriend your age: eharmony or SilverSingles, both built for relationships, with Daddyhunt as your second app.
- If you like younger men, or they like you: Daddyhunt first. Age-gap interest is the point of the app, not something to explain.
- If you are a bear or like bears: GROWLR, then SCRUFF.
- If you live in a small town: SCRUFF or Taimi for the largest pools, and set a wide distance.
- If you mostly want friends and things to do: Stitch, plus local LGBTQ+ groups.
- If you are not out, or newly out: a site with privacy controls and no public grid, like eharmony or SilverSingles, or Daddyhunt with Invisible Mode. Read the privacy section below first.
1. Daddyhunt: best overall for older gay men
Daddyhunt is the one app on this list built around older gay men rather than adapted to them. Its App Store listing calls it a dating app “for mature men and the admirers who love them”, claims more than 3.3 million members and says 70% of profiles are photo-verified. You browse Nearby, Discover, New and Global tabs, filter by age, body type and ethnicity, and send photos, videos or private albums in chat. It has 4.3 stars from 6.2K ratings. The Daddyhunt website sums up its pitch: you “never have to lie about your age” to meet men.
What it costs: the app is free to download and use, with limits. Premium adds unlimited profiles, 20+ filters, Travel Mode, Invisible Mode, hiding your age and distance, and Visitors. It is sold by the week, month, 3 months or year: the listing shows 1 week at $9.99 and other Premium items at $14.99, $39.99 and $119.99, without saying which length each one is. It renews automatically unless you turn it off 24 hours before the end of the period.
Who it suits: gay and bi men over 40 who are tired of hiding their age, and younger men who are looking for them. The catch: it is a grid app with hookups in the mix, and the pool is far smaller than SCRUFF’s.
2. SCRUFF: best for the largest pool, events and travel
SCRUFF is a big gay app where older men are a normal part of the crowd. The App Store listing claims “30+ million users”, and describes a nearby grid, search and filters, a daily Match stack you swipe through, photo verification with a badge, private albums, video chat and Explore, where you find prides, parties and festivals and chat with locals before a trip. It has 4.4 stars from 30K ratings.
What it costs: SCRUFF Pro comes in 30-day, 90-day and 1-year plans, listed at $9.99 to $119.99 without matching each price to a length. Two smaller add-ons, Browsing Pro at $3.99 and Messaging Pro at $4.99, are the cheapest way to pay. If you are weighing it against the most famous gay app, my Grindr vs SCRUFF comparison goes through the differences.
Who it suits: men who want numbers and like to travel. The catch: it leans younger and faster than a senior site, so set your age filter and say what you want in your profile.
3. eharmony: best for a long-term partner
eharmony is a relationship site, and it now treats gay members like everyone else. Its FAQ on gender says members can indicate whether they are seeking men, women, nonbinary people or any combination, and change it at any time. You start with a Compatibility Quiz, then get matches with a compatibility score.
What it costs: the free Basic membership lets you build a profile and see matches, but per its App Store listing you need Premium to swap messages. Premium is sold in multi-month durations, with App Store items from $59.99 to $349.99. The app has 4.1 stars from 49K ratings. My eharmony review has more on how it works.
Who it suits: men who want to settle down and like a guided process. The catch: it is a mostly straight site, so there are far fewer gay men near you than on a gay app, and you pay before you can talk.
4. Taimi: best for the whole LGBTQ+ community
Taimi is a dating app and social network for LGBTQ+ people only, so nobody has to wonder whether you are gay. Its gay senior dating page says it has “a large user base of older adults”, with a Finder that suggests matches, a feed, private messages and video calls. On the App Store it has 4.4 stars from 215K ratings.
What it costs: the basic app is free; Bronze, Silver and Gold premium tiers are listed as in-app items from $0.99 to $34.99. My Taimi review has more on its free and paid sides.
Who it suits: bi and trans men, and anyone who wants friends and community along with dates. The catch: it is not age-focused, so filter hard, and the tier pricing is confusing.
5. SilverSingles: best senior site for men seeking men
SilverSingles is a dating site for singles over 50, and its own gay senior dating page says it “serves a wider community of singles over 50, including gay singles”. The same page says every profile you can see has completed real-person verification, by photo or video, and that unverified profiles stay hidden. It runs on computer, iPhone and Android, which matters if you prefer a big screen.
What it costs: on the App Store SilverSingles sells 1 month for $18.99, 3 months for $47.99 and 6 months for $84.99. That listing has only 223 ratings so far (4.3 stars). The longer plan is cheaper per month, but only buy it once you have seen how many men show up near you. You can join SilverSingles free to check first, and my SilverSingles review has the rest.
Who it suits: men over 50 who want someone at the same stage of life. The catch: gay members are a small part of a mostly straight site, so outside big metros expect a short list.
6. GROWLR: best for bears and their admirers
GROWLR is a gay app for bears and bear chasers, a community where age, beards and bellies are a plus. Its App Store listing claims over 10 million members, with private messages, galleries, check-ins and an events section listing bear runs and bear bars. It has 4.3 stars from 50K ratings and comes from the same company as SCRUFF.
What it costs: GROWLr PRO is $9.99 for 1 month, $23.99 for 3 months, $44.99 for 6 months and $71.99 for a year, per the listing’s description.
Who it suits: bears, daddies and chasers. The catch: a niche pool, so distances can be long outside bear-friendly cities.
7. Stitch: best for friends and companionship over 50
Stitch is not a dating site in the usual sense. It is a community for anyone over 50, and its gay mature dating page says it has more than 400,000 members, with activities, interest groups, trips and one-on-one connections. It is open to all orientations, not only gay men.
What it costs: per the Stitch pricing page, a Limited membership is free forever, and Full membership starts at $7 a month. Stitch’s help center says Limited members can attend public events, join public discussions and reply to messages, but only Full members can start one-on-one connections, and the $7 price is for an annual membership.
Who it suits: men who are widowed, newly single or newly out and want a social life first. The catch: you cannot filter a dating pool of gay men the way you can on a gay app.
8. Hornet: best for a social feed with your dating
Hornet mixes a grid of men nearby with a feed of posts, which gives you something to comment on before you send a first message. On the App Store it has 3.8 stars from 3.2K ratings, and Premium Membership is $19.99 for 1 month, $21.99 for 3 months and $39.99 for a year.
Who it suits: men who like community and conversation. The catch: a thinner crowd outside big cities, and as my Hornet review notes, fake profiles remain the top complaint.
9. SeniorMatch: an over-50-only site, with caution
SeniorMatch only lets people 50 and up register, and its App Store listing says gay, bi and lesbian members are welcome and that only verified members can contact you. Its gay senior page claims 2.4 million senior singles, but its footer also says SeniorMatch “does not conduct background checks”.
What it costs: free to register and browse. Premium is $69.99 for 3 months and $109.99 for 6 months; one month is $34.99 in the description and $33.99 in the purchase list. It has 3.8 stars from 2.4K ratings, and several App Store reviews describe scam profiles asking for email and phone numbers.
Who it suits: men who want nobody under 50 in their results. The catch: a mostly straight site, a pricier plan, and scam complaints. Try the free side well before paying.
Other options older gay men ask about
- Grindr: the biggest gay app, with 4.4 stars from 389K ratings on the App Store. It is built for fast, nearby meetups, so it suits older men who want that and frustrates those who do not. My Grindr alternatives page covers what to use instead.
- Bearwww: a bear and daddy app that ranks twice for this search. Its App Store listing has only 301 ratings (3.8 stars), so I would start with GROWLR.
- Caffmos: a long-running site for mature gay men and their admirers. Its homepage says it launched in 1998 and offers free search and messaging, but it publishes no member numbers.
- Match and OurTime: big sites for people over 50, but neither App Store listing mentions gay members. Match’s 1-month plans are $44.99 on the App Store and OurTime’s 1-month items run $29.99 to $39.99 on its listing. Check how many men seeking men appear near you before paying. Between OurTime and SilverSingles, SilverSingles is the one that talks to gay members directly.
- Adam4Adam: free unlimited messaging and an older-school crowd, but hookup-leaning.
- Reddit and Facebook groups: both rank for this search. They are good for local tips and friendship, but anyone can post there, so the safety rules below apply even more.

What it really costs (and how to stop paying)
Gay apps are cheap next to senior sites. For one month on the App Store, the gap goes from $9.99 to $44.99.

- Try the free side first. Daddyhunt, SCRUFF, GROWLR, Hornet and Taimi let you browse and chat free. On eharmony and SilverSingles, check how many men show up near you before you pay.
- Every plan renews automatically. The Daddyhunt and SeniorMatch listings both say auto-renew must be turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends.
- Cancel where you paid. If you subscribed in the app, cancel in your phone’s store settings: on iPhone, Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel the plan.
- Long plans are cheaper per month, but only once you know the site works where you live.
Scams that target older gay men
Older men are a prime target. In its 2025 Internet Crime Report, the FBI counts 10,188 confidence and romance scam complaints from people 60 and over, with $584,032,745 lost. Two patterns matter most here.
The romance scam
The FTC’s romance scam guide lists the signs: he wants to move off the app fast, can never meet (overseas, military, an oil rig), then needs money for travel, medical bills or fees, by wire, gift card, payment app or crypto. Its bottom line: never send money or gifts to someone you have not met in person. Reverse-search his photos, and talk to a friend before you do anything.
Extortion and “outing” threats
This is the one most guides skip. A match sends intimate photos quickly, asks for yours, then threatens to send them to your family, church or employer unless you pay. Men who are not fully out are the easiest targets. The FTC’s October 2026 alert on sextortion says: do not pay, block the blackmailer and stop replying, talk to someone you trust and report it to the police and the FBI (tips.fbi.gov). If images are posted, the Take It Down Act requires platforms to remove them within 48 hours of your request, for free. The same alert warns against paid “blackmail help” services that promise to make threats disappear.
My guide to online dating scams covers the other common patterns.
Privacy and staying discreet
Many men in their 50s, 60s and 70s came out late, or are still private. You can date without broadcasting it.
- Pick the right format. Grid apps show you to every man nearby; relationship sites like eharmony and SilverSingles put you in front of fewer, chosen matches.
- Use the privacy tools. Daddyhunt Premium has Invisible Mode and lets you hide your age and distance; SCRUFF and Daddyhunt have private albums for photos you only share once you trust someone.
- Keep your face photo for later if you need to, but say so in your profile: honesty about discretion gets better replies than a blank profile.
- Do not link social media or give your number early. That is how blackmailers find your family.
Profile and first message tips
- Use recent photos. One clear face photo, one full-length, one doing something you love. A ten-year-old photo is the fastest way to a bad first date.
- Say what you want in one line: “Gay man, 63, looking for a partner, not in a rush” beats a long list of hobbies.
- Open with something from his profile, not “hi”. A question about his trip or his dog gets answers.
- Video call before meeting, then meet in a public place, get there on your own and tell a friend where you are.
How I ranked these sites
This ranking is based on public information, not on hands-on use of every app: official pricing and help pages, App Store listings and ratings (checked October 2026), and my existing reviews, whose ratings I reuse. Apps without a review are rated with the same rubric: value for money, safety and verification, evidence of an active user base, features for older gay men, and transparency about pricing and auto-renewal, each from 1 to 5, averaged and rounded to the half point. The order then reflects how well each one serves gay and bi men over 50.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best dating site for a 50 year old gay man?
For most gay men over 50, Daddyhunt is the best place to start, because it is built around mature men and the men who like them. If you want a relationship with someone your own age, add eharmony or SilverSingles, which both let men look for men.
Which is better, OurTime or SilverSingles, for gay men?
SilverSingles. Its own gay senior dating page says it serves gay singles over 50 and that every visible profile is verified, while OurTime's App Store listing does not mention gay members at all. Check how many men show up near you on either site before paying.
How do you meet gay men over 60?
Use one gay app such as Daddyhunt or SCRUFF and one slower site such as eharmony or SilverSingles, and set your age range wide. Off the apps, Stitch runs groups and activities for people over 50, and local LGBTQ+ centers and groups are good for friends first.
What is the most honest dating site for older gay men?
Look for sites that verify profiles before you can see or contact them. SilverSingles says every visible profile has completed real-person verification, and Daddyhunt says 70% of its profiles are photo-verified. No site runs background checks, so still video call before you meet.
What are the red flags when dating an older man online?
Be wary of anyone who wants to leave the app quickly, cannot meet or video call, or asks for money, gift cards or crypto. On gay apps, also watch for matches who push for intimate photos early: that is how extortion scams start.
Are gay dating apps free for older men?
Daddyhunt, SCRUFF, GROWLR, Hornet and Taimi let you browse and chat for free, with paid upgrades. Relationship sites like eharmony and SilverSingles let you join free but charge to message, and every paid plan renews automatically until you cancel in your phone's store settings.
