Lovely Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?
The Lovely dating app is legit in the narrow sense: it is a real Android app from Joyride GmbH, the German company behind Jaumo, with 10M+ downloads and free basic chat. But I would not pay for it. Lovely’s own help center says some profiles are AI characters with no person behind them, your profile is shared across a network of sister apps, prices are not published outside the app, and recent Google Play reviews are full of fake-profile complaints. Try it free on Android if you are curious; if you want to meet real people nearby, start with a better-known app.
What is Lovely, and who runs it?
Lovely, listed as "Lovely – Meet and Date Locals", is a location-based dating and chat app. Its Google Play listing names the developer as Joyride GmbH, Bartenbacher Str. 4, Göppingen, Germany, and the description ends with "Powered by Jaumo". The package name (com.pinkapp) and download sites show that the app used to be called Pink, and version notes go back to 2019, so this is an old app with a new name, not a new launch.
Joyride runs a family of apps on one platform. Its terms cover Joyride, Lovely, YouLove, Finally, Jaumo, Disco and Spicy under one contract, and the about page describes a remote team of 30 with its headquarters in Göppingen. Even the official site, lovelyapp.com, says "Jaumo" in most of its copy.
So yes, Lovely is a dating app (people search "is Lovely a dating site?"), but there is no website to log in to: the site is a landing page and help center, and everything happens in the app.
Not the same "Lovely": two look-alikes to avoid confusing
- Lovely - AI Boyfriend Dating on the App Store is a different product from a different developer (Appterm Labs): a virtual AI companion app, not a way to meet people. Its US listing had a single rating in October 2026.
- lovely-dating.com also shows up in searches for this app. It is a separate website, not Joyride’s.

Is Lovely on iPhone?
No. Lovely’s help center article on the Jaumo Network says that only Jaumo and CSL are on both the App Store and Google Play, and that all the other apps, Lovely included, are on Google Play only. I could not find a Joyride "Lovely" in the US App Store in October 2026. On an iPhone, the closest thing is Jaumo itself, which shares the same profile pool (see below).
On Android, install it from Google Play rather than an APK site. APK mirrors rank well for this app, but the Play Store gives you the current version, the data safety summary and a way to manage your subscription.
Who the Lovely dating app is for (and who should skip it)
- Good fit: Android users who want a free, low-pressure way to chat with people nearby, whether for friends, casual dating or something more. The store listing says you can switch your goal at any time.
- Poor fit: anyone who wants a serious relationship with strong identity checks, anyone on iPhone, and anyone who does not want to wonder whether a match is a person, an AI profile or a scammer.
- Not for: anyone under 18. The terms limit the app to adults 18 and over, and the listing says sexual or nude content is strictly prohibited. Google Play rates it Mature 17+, but the terms are what count.
How Lovely works: matching, chat and calls
There is no personality test. You create a short profile, set your filters and start meeting people nearby. The pieces, from the store listing and the help center:
- Nearby and swiping: a Nearby list at the top of the Communities tab, refreshed when you change filters or location (Nearby Users), plus a swipe screen the help center calls Zapping.
- Communities: interest groups such as pet lovers or hikers, which the brand site puts at the center of its pitch.
- Chat, video chat and audio calls: the listing mentions chat and video chat. Audio calls run inside the app, so you do not share your number, but only after you have already chatted with someone. You can switch calls off in Privacy settings.
- Chat requests and coins: messaging someone before you match costs coins, and a coin-powered Super-Request pins your message to the top of their inbox (Coins).
- AI message suggestions: a "Suggest Message" button writes your first message from the other person’s profile, in 20 languages. It works only for the first message and costs coins.
Is Lovely free? Plans, coins and the real cost
The basics are free: the help center says creating a profile and the basic features cost nothing, and the terms say the same. The app shows ads. Money comes in three forms: a subscription (Plus, Premium or Ultimate; the old "VIP" name is now Premium), coins, and Boosts.
Joyride does not publish a price list. The only official price information is on Google Play: in-app purchases from $1.99 to $259.00 per item. You see the actual price of each plan only inside the app, before you confirm.

The cheapest way in is to stay free and earn coins: you get coins for completing your profile, for verifying and for logging in daily, and you can double the daily reward by watching an ad. Subscriptions run through Google Play, so they renew until you cancel them there.
AI profiles: some "people" on Lovely are not people
This is the part none of the app listings mention. Lovely’s help center article What Are AI Profiles and How Do They Work? says AI profiles are "virtual characters" with "no real person behind these profiles". They reply in real time, their chats sit in your inbox like any other, and the article pitches them as a way to pass the time while you wait for likes.
Two details matter. First, Basic users get limited access to AI chats, and you need Plus or higher to keep going, so a chat can run into a paywall with someone who does not exist. Second, AI chats require your consent to share your profile data and chat content, which may include sensitive data, with an outside AI provider. You can withdraw that consent at any time.
The article does not say how AI profiles are labeled in the app. Before you pay to continue any conversation, check whether the profile is an AI character, and do not upgrade just to keep one talking.
The Jaumo Network: why you see the same faces
Lovely is not its own island. If the "Maximize my chances" setting is on in your privacy settings, the help center says your profile is also shown in Jaumo and Bloom, and in Finally, Disco, Spicy or CSL if you set special search criteria. The pool runs both ways, so many people you see on Lovely may have joined through a sister app.
This explains a common complaint: the same person in several apps, or a match who never mentions Lovely. If you want your profile in Lovely only, turn the setting off.
Safety, verification and privacy
Lovely has the standard tools, and they are decent on paper:
- Video verification: from your profile tab, tap "Verify Your Profile" and record a short video of your face. If the system cannot match it to your photo, you can ask for a manual check; a verified profile gets a checkmark (Using Video Verification). It is optional, so most profiles may not have it.
- Reporting: a one-tap "Seems fake?" option at the bottom of every profile (help center), and a full "Report Profile" form where you pick a reason, add a comment and a screenshot (Reporting a Violation). A reported profile is blocked from your view.
- Privacy controls: the listing says you control who can chat with you and that your location stays private until you share it. Plus adds incognito and hides your age and online status.
- Data: Google Play’s data safety section says the app may share location, personal info and 3 other data types with third parties, collects location, personal info and 8 others, encrypts data in transit and lets you request deletion.
Lovely’s safety guide is worth a read: it warns about too-perfect profiles, people who refuse video or phone calls, requests for money, and stock phrases like "God-fearing" or "sincere man". Its scam tips say never to send money, even in an emergency. Keep chats in the app, meet in a public place and tell a friend where you are going.
Fake profiles, scams and complaints
On Google Play, Lovely has 4.5 stars from about 649K reviews and 10M+ downloads (October 2026). The overall score is high, but the reviews shown first on the US listing are 1-star complaints about the same thing:
- "Multiple profiles with different names and ages" using the same photos, and a flood of likes from much younger women soon after signing up (August 2026).
- "Stolen pics and scammers", and anger that screenshots are blocked, which makes reverse image searches harder (May 2026).
- Scammers, plus photos and calls locked unless you pay, and freezes when opening a notification (February 2026).
Joyride replies to these reviews. Its answers point to the in-chat report button and support@lovelyapp.com, admit there is "no obvious solution that can completely prevent fake profiles", and say video and photo verification "can unfortunately be faked quite easily" with today’s AI. A Reddit thread in r/Scams ranks for this app too, about an extortion attempt that began with a Lovely chat; commenters called it a known scam and said to block and report rather than pay.
The user numbers do not agree either. Google Play shows 10M+ downloads, Lovely’s store screenshots claim 50M downloads, lovelyapp.com claims 90M+ downloads in 180+ countries, and its about page says it is trusted by over 2 million users in 150+ countries. The home page and about page seem to count the whole Jaumo family, not Lovely alone, so treat every big number as marketing.
The FTC’s romance scam advice applies here: never send money or gifts to someone you have not met in person, and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to the app if someone asks. The terms also forbid asking another member for money.

How to cancel Lovely and delete your account
Cancel first, then delete. Lovely’s help center is clear that deleting your account does not cancel your subscription.
- Cancel the subscription in Google Play: open the Play Store, tap your profile, then Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, Lovely, Cancel subscription. The app’s account settings also have a shortcut that opens this Play Store page. PayPal is only offered to Huawei users, who cancel the automatic renewal in PayPal (Managing Your Online Subscriptions). Changes can take up to 24 hours, and the plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Delete the profile in the app: settings, account settings, "Delete Account", pick a reason and confirm (Deleting Your Profile). Deletion is permanent: matches, messages and data cannot be restored.
