What is Alt.com all about?
Alt.com was created in 1995 by Gary Kremen and Pen T. Ong, and now has over 20
million active users in over 200 countries! Who knew there were so many kinky
people out there. 👀
Alt.com is a site for people who are into the BDSM scene and need a safe
environment where they can play and explore. This type of site caters less
towards the typical "vanilla" relationship, as it's more for exploring
fantasies, kinks, desires, etc. If you’re someone single, a swinger or a couple,
you’ll be able to find a lil’ fun here.
would benefit from this site, there’s also a wide
variety of bondage types (for amateurs or pros!) and fetish play. Pretty much…
if you can think of it, it likely exists here!
How does Alt.com app work?
The site works like any other, with nothing spectacularly different. Once you go
through the signup process, you’re able to browse profiles, send some winks, use
chat rooms, and view profiles.
There’s also a main feed available that shows who is broadcasting, and a sidebar
that shows you updates from groups and the community. To find someone, you can
either browse the main feed and matches, or go old school and use the search
Is Alt.com legit?
Don't let the outdated user interface fool you, this site is legit. The Alt
dating app belongs to the FriendFinder Network, which has been around since 1996
and has earned quite the following. Sound familiar? They are the face behind
popular dating sites such as:
OutPersonals (for those that follow my posts, this is why the layout/sign up process may look
With multiple successful platforms and putting in the time as a company, they
have to be doing something right to still be growing.
The tl;dr on Alt.com
My first impression of Alt.com was kinda what I thought it would be like…dark
user interface, a lil’ bit grungy, a lotta bit spicy. Here's what else I thought
about the dating site so you can get on to the good stuff!
- Is good for those new to the scene.
- Lots of active videos to look through.
- Graphic pics and vids (which is an obvi for this kind of site, but just a
How to delete account on Alt.com:
It's easy to delete my
account if I need to. Here's how you can do it if you need to:
- Look for your username in the top right hand corner and click - a drop down
menu will appear.
- Click on "My Account".
- Scroll all the way down to the bottom til you see "Manage Account" and click
on close account.
- At the bottom in small yellow font is "Please Delete My Account". Click on
that and then enter your password to confirm.
What are points and how do they work?:
The more you're active
on the Alt.com dating site, the more points you can earn. You can view your
points by clicking on the left side of the homepage where there is a yellow
link that says "____ points". When you have a certain amount of points, you can
cash it in for extra features on the site, items, or even cash.
Is there an Alt.com trial avail?:
While it's not labeled as a
free trial, it is free to sign up, but you have the option to upgrade at any
Can I browse Alt.com profiles as a guest?:
WHY YES you can,

Is there an Alt.com mobile app?
Unfortunately they only have one for iPhone (which isn’t bad for us, but SORRY
Android users!!), and you can access the website from your

Alt.com review of the sign up process
The signup process was quick and painless. Here's what it involved:
1. Alt.com makes it easy to signup by putting the sign up form directly on their
page. I choose who I am out of these options:
- Couple (man/woman)
- Couple (2 men)
- Couple (2 women)
2. Then I'm taken to a page where I pretty much say the same thing all over
again. Oh, and BTW, def a NSFW site!
3. I enter my DOB, country, and zip.
4. I type in my email and come up with a username and pw.
5. I provide some deets about myself including my:
- Sexual orientation
- Body type
- Marital status
6. I write a catchy intro title and a brief description of myself.
7. Time to activate my email!
Next, I get a good look at the main feed…lots of nudity so be prepared!
On the main feed, there’s a sidebar that has everything I could need to track
what was happening with my profile – I could add/manage my photos from there,
search for “kinks”, update my status, check out my messages and friends, see who
has flirted or hotlisted me, and more.
There’s also a center section that shares profiles, who is broadcasting, with
community and group tabs on the right sidebar. So many things to do!
What are the search capabilities for the Alt.com dating site?
There was A LOT of options to search by, including:
- Who I'm looking for
- What they're looking for (couple, group, woman, trans, etc.)
- Join date
There were even some uncommon filters such as breast size, endowment size, hair
length, genitals (which was a first!). Here's just a peek:
Is Alt free to use?
Alt.com is free to use, but with boundaries, of course. There are also features
you can purchase to boost your profile views if you want to expand beyond the
free features and be seen faster.
Free vs. paid subscription for Alt.com
I was able to get a good feel for the site with their basic (free version), but
I got a lil curious about what was in their Gold and Silver packages. I took the
plunge so you can see for yourself which package is best for you!
Alt.com free features
The free features were pretty run-of-the-mill. Without paying anything I was
able to get access to:
- Chat rooms.
- Send messages.
- View profiles.
- In-depth personality test.
- Compatibility charts.
- Profile customization.
So basically, I was able to make myself presentable to others, check out
different chat rooms, and that’s about it. Still, if you’re exploring and not
ready to take the leap, this will give you a good taste of what to expect on
Worth noting that people can also browse Alt as a “guest” which means they can
take a look at profiles and peruse, but can’t post or use any features. This was
a first! But, it also means your profiles may not be as private as you think.

Alt.com Silver membership cost & features
Slightly lacking a few features than its premium cousin, but also a little more
affordable, is the Alt dating site's Silver membership tier. Here's what the
prices look like:
- Every three months billed up front at $35.97
- Annually billed up front for $99.97 a year.
Here's what I was able to do with the silver package:
- View and contact members (new members cannot contact me or view my profile).
- Show up in searches before the basic members but after the Gold members.
- Be the first to contact new members.
- Access to users' live and recorded video intros.
- 24/7 customer support via phone.
- Some access to blogs, magazine features, and groups.
I wouldn’t recommend the annual membership unless you’re really in it to win it,
but even then, I’d hope you find someone quicker rather than needing to stay on
Alt.com Premium membership (aka Gold) cost & features
Alt.com's Premium (Gold) membership price was pretty average compared to other
subscriptions I've come across. Here's what my options were when it came to
There are three different ways to pay for a premium membership:
- Every three months billed up front for $59.97.
- Annually billed up front for $149.97 a year.
The Premium membership provided everything in the Silver package, plus:
- Moving my profile to the very top of searches.
- FULL access to live and recorded video intros.
- Able to see enlarged pics (this should be standard IMHO!)
- COMPLETE access to groups, blogs, and magazine features.
I also have the option to “enhance my profile” to get more action!
Even though I can contact everyone, free members can’t see my profile or reach
out to me. Upgrading my contacts will allow free members to access my profile
too. I also have the option to highlight my profile so I stand out in searches
and emails which seems worth it.
What sets Alt.com apart from other kink and BDSM dating sites?
There are a few unique features that separates Alt.com from the other
alternative dating sites out there. Here's what stuck out to me:
Testimonials: Users can write a brief comment about their
interactions with you for others to see. This is kinda like a Yelp! review for
people. Still TBD on how much to trust them, but they’re def a nice addition!
My Kinks: Being able to list your turn ons and kinks to get
better connections is great.
Bling: If you’ve been around here for a bit, you know there
are a few other
dating site reviews that
included this, and I’ve come to appreciate it! Bling is a way of expressing
yourself by using icons on your posts or profile.
Hot or Not: This shows you pics of users and you decide
whether you think they're 🔥 or 🧊.
This lets you see who's compatible
with your zodiac sign, biorhythm chart, and Chinese zodiac! I haven’t come
across this except for sites that leaned into it like
Pros and cons of the Alt.com app
Each dating site has their good and bad, and the Alt dating site is no
exception. I'll give it to ya straight, no chaser.
What I liked about the Alt dating site
Here's what kept me interested about Alt.com:
- Has a glossary of BDSM terms for beginners.
- Advanced search filters for free - probably the most I've ever seen!
- There's several diff chatrooms to meet people in.
- I got some pretty quick connections once signing up, and they seemed legit.
What I wasn't crazy about with the Alt dating site
There were a few things that could be better with Alt.com:
- Guests can browse profiles without being a member. This is great for guests,
but kinda weird for members.
- There could be more free features to keep users enticed.
- I did see a profile that I saw on a sugar dating site (maybe a fraud, maybe
a dating enthusiast?)
- It’s still a little too busy for my liking, which seems to be the theme for
other BDSM sites like that. More can be better depending on who you are, or it
can be harder to find the right connections.
So, final thoughts for my Alt.com review?
I really enjoyed my time so far while working on my Alt.com review. It had
plenty to offer when it came to raw, unadulterated fun. They definitely nailed
the BDSM theme of the website, but if they could incorporate twists such as an
Alt mobile app for Android too, a more modern layout, and more free features, it
would be a whole lot better. For now, Alt.com will be my go to when I'm looking
for a dating alternative and plus, I have some hotties in my inbox that need
