Best Cowboy Dating Sites in 2026 (Honest Picks)
The best cowboy dating site for most people is FarmersOnly: it has the biggest country crowd and has run since 2005, but you have to pay (from $29.95 a month) to message. Boo is the pick if you want a big, mostly free app with country interest groups, Western Match is the cheapest real option ($28.95 one time for lifetime access), and Equestrian Singles suits horse people. I’d be careful with the cluster of sites named “Cowboy Dating Service”, “Cowboy Mate” and “Date A Cowboy”: they come from the same small networks and their apps have poor ratings.
Below: the ranked picks, what each one really costs (from the official App Store listings and help pages, checked October 2026), what a free account can and cannot do, who owns what, and how to stay safe while you look for your cowboy or cowgirl.

Prices checked October 2026 on each app’s US App Store listing or official pricing page, linked in its section below. App store prices can differ from web prices.
How I ranked them
I have not used these cowboy sites myself. The ratings come from public information: each site’s pricing, its help center and terms, its App Store and Google Play reputation, and what the free account allows. Each one is scored from 1 to 5 on value for money, safety and verification, evidence of real active members, features for country singles, and transparency (prices, auto-renewal, cancellation), then rounded to the half point. Boo’s rating is the one from my original Boo review.
1. FarmersOnly: best cowboy dating site overall
FarmersOnly is the name most country singles already know. Its homepage says it was founded in 2005 for farmers, ranchers and “country-minded folks” in the US and Canada, and that it has “many millions of members” (no exact count). Cowboys and cowgirls are its core audience even without “cowboy” in the name.
The catch is the paywall. The FarmersOnly FAQ says a free standard member can browse, search and send flirts, but “only premium members can correspond with personal messages”, and premium members can only email other premium members. To reach free members too, you need Gold Status, an add-on of $9.99 a month on top of premium. Texting through its FarmPhone feature is another $4.95 a month.
- Prices: 1 month $29.95, 3 months $59.99, 6 months $99.99, Boosts $5.99 or $9.99 (App Store listing, October 2026).
- Reputation: 4.5 stars from 298 ratings on the App Store, but 2.0 stars from about 3,170 reviews and 1M+ downloads on Google Play (October 2026). The Android crowd is much larger and much less happy.
- Fake activity: the FAQ states plainly that FarmersOnly never creates fake profiles or sends messages to “spur” activity.
Who it suits: ranch and farm folks who want a big, US-only country pool and will pay for a month or three. Who should skip it: anyone who wants to chat before paying.
2. Boo: best big app for meeting cowboys for free
Boo is not a cowboy site. It is a general dating and friends app that matches on personality type and lets you post in interest communities, which its App Store listing describes as a way to “meet people who share your values and passions”. That matters here: country, rodeo and western communities give you a cowboy filter on top of a much bigger pool than any niche site.
It has 4.2 stars from about 212,000 ratings on the App Store (October 2026), far more than every cowboy site on this page combined. The app is free to download with in-app purchases, and its listing ties some features to a “social credit system” rather than a paywall; Boo Infinity, the subscription, is listed at several prices, from $14.99 to $19.99 a month, plus weekly options. Boo also wrote one of the listicles that ranks for this search and puts itself first, so take its own claims with a pinch of salt.
Who it suits: younger cowboys and cowgirls, and anyone in a small town who needs a wide radius. Who should skip it: people who only want partners who live the ranch life every day.
3. Western Match: best cheap cowboy dating site
Western Match has run since 2002 and calls itself the “#1 cowboy dating site”. It is independent (its FAQ says it is not affiliated with other cowboy sites) and has no app: it is a mobile-friendly website. Free members get a profile, up to two photos, the free cowboy chat rooms and a list of who visited them, per its help center.
The pricing on its homepage is the lowest here: Gold at $14.95 a month, or Lifetime at $28.95 paid once (October 2026), both with audio and video chat. The sources do not quite agree, though. The homepage lists Gold as monthly, while the help center says membership is a one-time payment with “no recurring billing”, and also that “some $10.00 auto-renewal memberships” from the past may still need cancelling. If you join, take the Lifetime plan and check your statement.
Who it suits: rural singles over 40 who like chat rooms and hate subscriptions. Who should skip it: anyone who wants a polished app; there are no member counts to show how busy it is.
4. Equestrian Singles: best for horse lovers and rodeo people
Equestrian Singles launched in 2001 for horse people: its homepage names roping, barrel racing, cutting, reining and cowboy mounted shooting among its members’ interests and claims more than 1,000 new singles a month. Its App Store seller is FarmersOnly Media Inc, the same company as FarmersOnly, so it is a sister site rather than a rival.
The Equestrian Singles FAQ works like FarmersOnly’s: free members browse and send flirts, premium members exchange messages. It is cheaper: 1 month $19.95, 3 months $39.95, 6 months $54.99 on the App Store (October 2026). The app is new and small, with 5 ratings on iOS and 1K+ downloads and 3.2 stars from 23 reviews on Google Play.
Who it suits: riders who want a partner who gets up at five to feed the horses. Who should skip it: anyone outside a horse area; the pool is thin.
5. FarmersMatch: best modern country dating app
FarmersMatch markets itself to farmers, ranchers, cowboys and cowgirls. Its App Store listing (seller HIYAK Global Limited) says “forget swiping” and leans on detailed profiles, filters and a Feed with posts and local communities. It has 4.3 stars from 696 ratings on iOS and 4.0 from 436 reviews with 10K+ downloads on Google Play (October 2026).
The listing does not say what is free. The in-app purchases are FarmersMatch Gold at $29.99 for 1 month, $69.99 for 3 months and $99.99 for 6 months, plus Deep Likes ($2.99 each) and Boosts ($5.99). The site lists no company address or prices of its own.
Who it suits: people who like a modern app and a community feed. Who should skip it: anyone who wants to know exactly what they get before paying.
Approach with caution: the cowboy-name sites
Most of the page one results for “cowboy dating site” are not separate companies. Cowboy Dating Service and Cowboy Mate both run under the same terms from Online Connections Inc. of Weston, Florida (Cowboy Dating Service terms, Cowboy Mate terms). Date A Cowboy is run by Dating Media Group, and its sign-up form offers a “bonus” free membership to CowboyDatingService.com, Cowboy.Singles and CowboyMate.com. Switching from one to another is not a fresh start.
- Prices: the Cowboy Dating Service app lists a 1-month plan at $22.99, a monthly plan and a “1 month trial, rebills monthly” at $32.99, 3 months from $30.99, quarterly $44.99 and yearly $89.99. Date A Cowboy shows its prices only after you sign up and click Upgrade, per its help page.
- Renewal: the Online Connections terms say plans renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before they end, and refunds follow a cancellation notice sent by certified mail or delivered in person. Date A Cowboy’s help page says a 3-day trial turns into a 30-day membership if you do not cancel.
- Screening: Date A Cowboy says it does not screen members for criminal background.
The network does include gay cowboy and lesbian cowgirl browse sections and a Black cowboy subsite, which is one reason it shows up so often. If that is your search, the LGBTQ dating sites I rank have far bigger pools.
What free really gets you on a cowboy dating site
Every site here says “join free”. What matters is whether you can send a message without paying:
- Free to talk: Western Match (chat rooms) and Boo (interest communities, with Boo Infinity as an optional upgrade).
- Free flirts only: FarmersOnly and Equestrian Singles. You can show interest; replying with words needs premium on both sides, or Gold Status on FarmersOnly.
- Not stated: FarmersMatch and the cowboy-name network list paid plans for messages and likes without saying where the free tier stops.
If you want to date for $0 and add a country filter yourself, my list of completely free dating apps shows what each big app lets you do without paying.
How to choose: if you are X, pick Y
- You live on a ranch or farm and want someone who does too: FarmersOnly, one month of premium.
- You ride, rope or rodeo: Equestrian Singles, and look for local riders first.
- You are on a tight budget: Western Match Lifetime ($28.95 once), plus Boo for free.
- You are under 35 or in a very small town: Boo, or a big app with a wide distance setting.
- You are over 40 and want something serious: FarmersOnly or Western Match, alongside a mainstream app from my best dating apps for over 40.
- You are in the UK or Ireland: none of these; Muddy Matches is the countryside site built for you.
Cowboy dating is one corner of the niche dating sites world, and the same rule holds across it: a niche site gives you shared values, a big app gives you numbers. Using one of each usually beats paying for two niche sites, especially two from the same owner (FarmersOnly and Equestrian Singles).
How to cancel without a surprise charge
- FarmersOnly: Account Settings, then “Manage your subscription”. If you paid through Google Play or the App Store, cancel there; removing your profile does not stop the store charge (FAQ).
- Equestrian Singles: Settings, Manage Subscription, Cancel Subscription. Its FAQ advises cancelling at least three days before renewal and says deleted accounts get no pro-rated refund.
- Western Match: contact support to cancel any old auto-renewing plan; Lifetime needs no cancellation.
- Any app bought in a store: cancel in your Apple or Google subscriptions, not just in the app.
Staying safe on cowboy dating sites
None of these sites checks who you are talking to. FarmersOnly, Equestrian Singles and Date A Cowboy say they do not run background checks, and Western Match says it reviews profiles but does no identity verification or screening. So the checking is on you:
- Video chat before you meet, then meet in a public place and tell a friend where you will be.
- Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you have not met. The FTC’s romance scam guide lists the usual story: a match who works far away, cannot meet, then needs help with a bill or a ticket.
- Be wary of a “rancher” who wants to move to text or WhatsApp in the first few messages. Equestrian Singles’ own FAQ warns that someone who says they are abroad is more likely to be a scammer.
- Report and block on the site, and report fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
My guide to online dating scams walks through the patterns in detail, and the safest dating apps list shows which big apps offer real photo or ID verification.
Frequently asked questions
What dating apps do cowboys use?
FarmersOnly is the best-known site for cowboys, ranchers and farmers in the US. Western Match, Equestrian Singles and FarmersMatch are smaller country options, and many cowboys also use big general apps like Boo with a wide distance setting.
Is FarmersOnly a good dating site?
It is the largest country dating site and says it never creates fake profiles or messages. The catch is that free members can only send flirts: messaging needs premium, from $29.95 a month on the App Store in October 2026. Its Google Play rating is low, 2.0 stars from about 3,170 reviews.
What are some good dating sites for cowgirls?
The same sites work for cowgirls: FarmersOnly for the biggest country crowd, Equestrian Singles for horse and rodeo women, and Western Match for a cheap one-time fee. Women seeking women will find bigger pools on mainstream LGBTQ apps than on the cowboy-name sites.
Is there a free cowboy dating site?
Not fully. Western Match lets free members use its chat rooms, and Boo is free to download with an optional subscription. FarmersOnly and Equestrian Singles let free members browse and send flirts, but sending messages is paid.
How do I find a farmer or rancher to date?
Join one country site such as FarmersOnly and one big app, set a wide radius, and say clearly in your profile that you want the rural life. Offline, rodeos, county fairs, church and friends of friends still work well in farm country.
