    VioletDates Review 2026: Real Profiles or Scam?

    The VioletDates dating site is a real, working chat site, not an empty shell, but I would not pay for it. It is a credit-based platform for slow, romantic online conversations, run by a company it does not name, with no app, no public price list and a steady stream of complaints about costs and profiles that will not leave the site. If you want to meet someone for real, there are safer places to start.

    My verdict: Signing up for VioletDates is free, but real conversation runs on credits, the prices are hidden until you log in, and nobody publicly takes responsibility for the business. The mixed 3.5 star Trustpilot score hides a 32% share of one star reviews. Approach with caution, cap your budget before you buy anything, and never send money or gifts to anyone you meet there.

    What is the VioletDates dating site, and who runs it?

    VioletDates (violetdates.com) is a web-based dating and messaging site. On its own about.me page it calls itself an "online dating platform in Gibraltar" for "romantic communication in a calm, respectful, and emotionally rich setting", built around "gentle, heart-centered conversations" without pressure to meet. Google's AI Overview sums it up the same way: international messaging and low-pressure romance.

    That framing matters. VioletDates sells conversation, not dates. Here is what I could confirm about the business in October 2026:

    • No company name or address anywhere public. The about.me page says Gibraltar; the company's own Trustpilot profile, claimed in July 2021, lists the United States and the email support@violetdates.help.
    • The domain was registered on June 17, 2019, according to the official .com registry record, through the German registrar 1API GmbH.
    • One company reply on the French Trustpilot page, dated April 13, 2026, is signed "Melissa from Meetwithmature" instead of the usual "Claire from VioletDates". That suggests one team runs several sister sites, the way AmourFeel and MatchTruly look like parts of the same credit-based network, though nothing official says so.

    An anonymous operator is not proof of a scam. It does mean that if a charge goes wrong, you are dealing with a support inbox, not a company you can look up.

    What the top results get wrong about VioletDates

    If you searched "violetdates dating site", most of what Google shows you is unreliable. Two of the "reviews" near the top are machine-spun articles posted on unrelated websites (one of them a hacked school site in Hong Kong), and they contradict each other and the facts:

    Claim in the search resultsWhat the sources say
    "Launched in 2015"The domain was registered in June 2019 (registry record).
    "Owned by Match Group, like Tinder and Hinge"No sign of it. VioletDates names no owner at all, and its replies point to Meetwithmature, not Match Group.
    "10 million active users"VioletDates publishes no user count. Its Trustpilot page has 161 reviews.
    "Official iOS app called Violet Dates"No VioletDates app turned up in a search of the US App Store or Google Play in October 2026.
    "Completely free, no hidden costs"The brand's own about.me page says premium features run on "a credit-based payment system".

    Also in the results: a "Violet" college dating app and a 2018 personal dating blog. Neither has anything to do with VioletDates.

    Who VioletDates is for

    The site is for adults who enjoy long online chats with people in other countries and are fine paying for each conversation. Third-party pages and the brand's Trustpilot replies describe it as "online communication" first. If you want to meet someone near you, video call soon and go on real dates, it is the wrong tool: several reviewers say they could not exchange phone numbers or emails, and the company answered one of them that its platform is for online communication.

    How VioletDates works

    Because the live site blocks automated visits, the feature list below comes from the brand's about.me page and from two third-party promotional pages that rank for VioletDates, so treat it as what is advertised:

    • Sign-up: email, username, password, gender and date of birth, with an email check. Free.
    • Finding people: a search page with age and other filters, a "People" page of suggested members to like or skip, and a newsfeed of members' posts.
    • Free gestures: likes, winks and follows.
    • Paid contact: chat and longer "mail" messages, attachments and photos. One promotional page says some photos stay hidden until a member answers your first message.
    • Conversation starters: pre-written "Let's Talk" openers you can edit.
    • Premium boosts: the brand lists advanced search filters, priority messaging and more profile visibility.

    There is no VioletDates app. You use it in a phone or desktop browser. That matters for money: you pay the site directly by card, with no Apple or Google refund process behind you.

    Free vs paid: what VioletDates costs

    VioletDates has no standard subscription. You buy credits and spend them per action. Free members can sign up, build a profile, search, browse and send likes or winks, but real conversation needs credits. Payment by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay is mentioned on a third-party promo page.

    The prices are the problem. VioletDates does not publish them outside the logged-in area, its live site blocked our requests in October 2026, and none of the pages ranking for this search give a figure. So there is no price table here: I will not print numbers I could not confirm at the source.

    What reviewers report about the bill is telling. On Trustpilot, one reviewer wrote in April 2026 that she had bought more than 800 euros of credits in 17 days. On Reviews.io, cost is the most common complaint, with per-minute chat charges that add up fast. The company's standard reply is that you only pay for the features you choose. In my Dating.com review I found that paying for each item and monitoring credits while getting to know someone seemed stressful, and VioletDates works the same way. If you try it:

    • set a monthly cap before your first purchase, and buy the smallest pack;
    • turn off any automatic top-up offered at checkout;
    • check what each chat minute, message and photo costs in your account before you open a conversation;
    • be wary when a chat keeps getting longer without ever moving to a video call.

    Real profiles or scam? What people say about VioletDates

    This is the question behind most searches, and the review platforms give a split answer.

    PlatformScoreReviewsNotes
    Trustpilot3.5 / 516147% five stars, 32% one star. Claimed by VioletDates, which replies to every negative review. Trustpilot notes the company has not invited reviewers recently.
    SmartCustomer (formerly Sitejabber)3.7 / 52448% five stars, 26% one star, nothing in between. Claimed in July 2021.
    Reviews.io4.0 / 524Praise for support staff and filters; cost is the main complaint.

    Ratings checked October 2026.

    Scores like these, almost all five stars or one star, usually mean two very different groups of users. The five star reviews are short and praise friendly support and fast replies. The one star reviews are specific, and the same themes repeat across platforms:

    • Cost: credits for messages, attachments, photos and gifts, and spending that is hard to justify.
    • No way off the site: matches who chat warmly but will not share a phone number or email.
    • Doubts about who is writing: SmartCustomer reviewers allege fake profiles and AI-driven chats; a Trustpilot reviewer in September 2026 alleges impersonators answer men. The company denies it and says it verifies members.
    • Matching: one reviewer wanted location and height before spending credits and got profiles from all over the US.

    None of this proves every profile is fake. But a site where you pay per message, cannot easily take a conversation elsewhere and cannot see who runs it puts all the risk on you. That is why it gets a warning here.

    Safety and verification

    VioletDates says it "employs advanced security measures to protect users from scams" on its about.me page, and its Trustpilot replies mention a "zero-tolerance policy" for fraud and that many profiles are verified. Many is not all, and the site does not publicly explain what its checks involve. A promotional page describes optional ID and video verification for "Top Users"; treat any profile without a verified badge as unverified.

    The bigger risk on any international chat site is a romance scam. The FTC's romance scam guide lists the signs:

    • someone who builds trust fast but always has a reason they cannot meet;
    • a sudden money need: a plane ticket, a visa, medical bills, a fee;
    • requests for gift cards, wire transfers, payment apps or crypto;
    • a profile photo that shows up under other names in a reverse image search.

    The FTC's rule is simple: never send money or gifts to someone you have not met in person. Paid "gifts" sent through the site count too. If something feels off, stop writing, report the profile to VioletDates support, call your bank or card issuer, and file a report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

    Cancel, refunds and deleting your account

    With no subscription there is nothing to cancel in the usual sense, but check two things before you leave:

    1. Auto top-up. If you allowed automatic credit purchases at checkout, switch it off in your account's payment settings.
    2. Refunds. The site's payment and refund terms load only in a browser, and I could not open their text. Read them before your first purchase. For a charge you did not authorize, your card issuer is the faster route.

    To delete your profile, use the account settings, or email support@violetdates.help (the address VioletDates gives on Trustpilot) and ask for full deletion of your account and data. Keep the reply.

    Pros and cons

    Pros

    • Free to join and browse, so you can look before paying.
    • A real site running since 2019, with support that answers complaints.
    • Pay as you go, no recurring subscription by default.
    • Calm, conversation-first pitch for people who like writing.

    Cons

    • No named company or address behind it.
    • Prices not published; per-message and per-minute costs add up.
    • Repeated complaints about contact details being blocked and profiles that feel staged.
    • No app on the App Store or Google Play.
    • Many "reviews" in Google are spun spam with false claims.

    Better alternatives to VioletDates

    If you are wondering which dating sites are the least scammy and most honest, start with ones that tell you who runs them and what they cost:

    • Match: a subscription site for serious relationships, running since 1995 and owned by Match Group. One monthly price instead of paying per message.
    • eHarmony: around since 2000, matches you on personality, built for long-term relationships, also by subscription.
    • Dating.com: also international and credit-based, but a long-established brand I reviewed from real use. Watch the credits the same way.

    How I rate it

    I rate VioletDates 2 out of 5. The rating is based on public pricing information, features, safety tools, app store and review-platform reputation, and value, not on hands-on use. Value for money: 1.5 (pay per action, prices not public, reports of heavy spending). Safety and verification: 2 (verification claimed for "many" profiles, no public detail, contact sharing blocked). Evidence of an active user base: 2.5 (steady recent reviews and replies, but no app and no published numbers). Features for its audience: 2.5 (search, newsfeed, chat, mail, conversation starters). Transparency: 1 (no company name, hidden prices, conflicting locations). Average: 1.9, rounded to 2.

    Frequently asked questions

    What is VioletDates?

    VioletDates is a web-based dating and chat site for slow, romantic online conversations, often with people in other countries. Joining is free, but chatting and messaging run on paid credits. It has no app and does not name the company behind it.

    Is VioletDates legit or a scam?

    It is a real, working site that has been online since 2019, so it is not a fake front. But prices are hidden until you log in, many reviewers complain about costs and blocked contact details, and some allege fake or AI-run profiles. Treat it with caution and set a strict budget.

    What are people saying about the VioletDates dating site?

    Reviews are split. On Trustpilot it has 3.5 out of 5 from 161 reviews in October 2026, with 47% five stars and 32% one star. Positive reviews praise support and fast replies, while negative ones cite expensive credits and matches who will not leave the site.

    Is VioletDates free?

    Signing up, building a profile, searching and sending likes or winks are free. Real conversation, such as chat, messages and photos, costs credits, and VioletDates does not publish its credit prices outside the logged-in area.

    Does VioletDates have an app?

    No. In October 2026 there was no VioletDates app on the US App Store or Google Play, despite claims in some online articles. You use it in a mobile or desktop browser and pay the site directly.

    What is the least scammy dating site?

    Sites that name their owner, publish their prices and offer verification are the safest bets. Subscription services such as Match and eHarmony are easier to trust than anonymous pay-per-message chat sites, though you should never send money to anyone you have not met in person anywhere.
