Seriously Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?

The Seriously dating app (seriously.app) is a real, US-registered website, not an outright scam, but I would not spend money on it in October 2026. It is free to join and promises that every member is video-verified by a human, yet it is a browser-only site with no app in either store, no public prices for its paid features, and it is run by Findmate, LLC, the company behind a pay-per-message credits app. If you came here looking for a serious dating app in general, my serious dating apps page is where to start.

My verdict: Legit company, nice promise, thin evidence. Its own homepage showcase is mostly inactive profiles, a third of them not flagged as verified, and the operator's other app charges per message. Try it free if you are curious, but do not buy anything until the price is on the screen, and do not expect a big local pool.

What is the Seriously dating app, and who runs it?

Seriously calls itself "a modern online dating platform for adults looking for real relationships". Its homepage pitches three steps: create a free profile, record a short verification video, then browse verified members and start a conversation. It says it is "trusted by singles in 80+ countries".

The terms of service (last updated June 25, 2026) name the operator: Findmate, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company. That same company is the seller of Findmate - Dating & Friends on the App Store, an international dating and chat app that has been around since 2019. Seriously itself does not mention Findmate anywhere except the legal line in its footer and terms. Support is a single email address, support@seriously.app.

    Who it is for

The site's FAQ says Seriously is for "adults 18 and over who are looking for genuine connection", from long-term relationships to "simply meeting interesting people". In practice, the audience looks international rather than local. The homepage's "A genuine community" gallery shows twelve members, and the page data behind it lists their countries: seven in the Philippines, two in the US, and one each in India, Bulgaria and the United Arab Emirates (checked October 9, 2026). That matches the "80+ countries" claim and the Findmate model of meeting people abroad.

    • Might suit: someone open to long-distance or international dating who wants to chat with people who have at least recorded a video, and who is careful with money.
    • Skip it if: you want to date locally in the US, you want a phone app, or you want to know the price of everything before you start.

    How Seriously works

From the homepage and FAQ, the flow is simple:

    1. Create a profile with what you are looking for. The site says it takes a couple of minutes and needs no credit card.
    2. Record a verification video following on-screen prompts. A person on the trust team reviews it "within 24 hours" and adds a verified badge.
    3. Browse verified members and message them. The site promises you can "choose who sees you, who can message you, and what shows up on your profile".

There is no compatibility quiz, daily batch of matches or prompt-based profile described anywhere. It is a browse-and-message directory with a verification step on top. Compared with the apps people usually mean by "serious dating", that is a lot less structure to help you find a match.

Is there a Seriously app for iPhone or Android?

No. The FAQ says "Seriously runs in any modern mobile browser" and "There's nothing to install". A search for "seriously dating" on Google Play in October 2026 shows no app by that name or by Findmate. The Google Play app that ranks for "seriously dating app", "Serious Dating & Marriage: PM", is an unrelated product from another developer. So if you were looking for a Seriously dating app download for Android, there is none: you sign up at seriously.app in your phone's browser.

Is Seriously free? What it costs

Joining is free. The homepage FAQ says creating a profile, getting verified and browsing verified members is "completely free", and adds: "We offer optional paid features for people who want them, but you never need to pay to use the core product." What it does not say is what those paid features are or what they cost.

    WhatWhat Seriously publishes
    Sign-upFree, no credit card
    Video verificationFree
    Browsing verified membersFree
Paid features"Optional", not named or priced on the site
Refunds"Payments are non-refundable" unless the law or the checkout says otherwise

Prices checked October 2026 on the Seriously homepage and in its terms (section 6: the terms of any purchase "will be shown at the time of checkout").

The FAQ does not say whether messaging is free. That matters, because the operator's other product charges for exactly that. Findmate's App Store listing says joining and browsing are free but messages and video calls use credits, "No subscriptions, just pay as you go":

    Findmate credit pack (App Store)Price
    30 credits$4.99
    65 credits$9.99
    100 credits$14.99
    170 credits$24.99
    350 credits$49.99
    720 credits$99.99
    1,500 credits$199.99

Prices checked October 2026 on the Findmate App Store listing. On Trustpilot, Findmate replied to a reviewer that each message costs 1 credit, which puts a message at roughly 13 to 17 cents depending on the pack. I could not confirm that Seriously uses the same credits, so treat this as a warning sign, not a price list. If Seriously ever asks you to pay to send a message, you are on a pay-per-message site, and the costs add up fast in long chats.

    Video verification and safety

Verification is Seriously's main selling point, and on paper it is better than most small sites. The homepage says "A real person on our team reviews every verification video. No AI shortcuts." The terms make the video a requirement and let the company "decline, revoke, or re-request verification at our discretion". They also ban impersonation, harassment, commercial solicitation and sexually explicit content.

Reporting is built in: every profile has a report button, reports go to the trust team and are "typically reviewed within hours", and you can block anyone instantly. The terms are also honest about the limits: "Seriously is not a background-check service." A verified video proves someone matches their photos. It does not prove they are single, who they say they are on paper, or that they want a relationship rather than your money.

So the usual rules still apply, especially on an international site. The FTC's romance scam guide lists the red flags: someone who cannot meet in person (they live abroad, work on an oil rig, serve in the military), asks for money for a ticket, visa or emergency, pushes gift cards, wire transfers or crypto, and rushes you. Never send money to someone you have not met in person, reverse-image search their photos, video call before you meet, meet in a public place, tell a friend where you are going, and report anything off to the trust team and at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.

    Fake, inactive and pay-to-chat profiles

Seriously says of its homepage gallery: "Every face below belongs to a verified Seriously member. No stock photos. No bots." The page data that feeds that gallery (public, loaded with the homepage, checked October 9, 2026) tells a more mixed story about the twelve members it shows:

    • Verification: five of the twelve are not flagged as vetted in the data.
    • Activity: seven of the twelve had not been active since before April 2026, and the oldest last activity dates from 2023.
    • Age of accounts: two accounts were created in November 2022, long before the June 2026 terms, which suggests the profiles come from an older member base, most likely the operator's Findmate network.
    • Pay-to-chat fields: each member record carries a "payToChat" flag and a credit "balance".

None of this proves the profiles are fake. They look like real people. But a showcase meant to prove an active, verified community that is mostly dormant, with a third not marked as verified, is not a good sign for how many people you will actually reach. And the pay-to-chat fields fit what Findmate's own reviewers describe.

Seriously has no app store page and no Trustpilot page (checked October 2026), so there are no user reviews of Seriously itself yet. Its sister app gives the closest picture. On the App Store, Findmate has 3.7 stars from 57 ratings (October 2026), with written reviews ranging from a man who says he met someone in person to others calling it "basically just Twitch" and a scam, arguing that members are rewarded for keeping paid chats going rather than meeting. On Trustpilot, Findmate scores 2.8 from 26 reviews, with complaints about credits running out fast on video calls, unexplained bans, and withdrawals that did not arrive, the last of which only makes sense if some members earn from chatting. Those are opinions about Findmate, not Seriously, but it is the same company.

    Privacy

The privacy policy (June 25, 2026) is short and readable. It collects your name, email, date of birth, location, profile answers, photos, your verification video and your messages, plus device and log data. It says Findmate "does not sell your personal information" and shares it with other members, service providers (hosting, payments, email, analytics), for legal reasons, or in a sale of the business. Data is encrypted in transit. California residents and users in the EU or UK can request access, correction or deletion by email.

The verification video is the sensitive part: it is a recording of your face and voice held by a small company. That is the trade-off for the "everyone is real" promise.

    Pros and cons

    Pros

    • Free to join, verify and browse, with no credit card.
    • Human-reviewed video verification required before members can message you.
    • Report and block on every profile; clear, short terms and privacy policy.
    • Works in any phone browser, nothing to install.

    Cons

    • Paid features are not named or priced anywhere, and payments are non-refundable.
    • Run by the company behind a pay-per-message credits app, and its member records carry pay-to-chat fields.
    • The homepage showcase is mostly inactive profiles, and five of twelve are not flagged as vetted.
    • International pool, mostly outside the US; no iPhone or Android app.
    • No user reviews of Seriously anywhere yet.

How to cancel and delete your account

The terms say "you may delete your account at any time from within the Service", and the homepage promises you can "delete in one tap". When you do, the privacy policy says your profile and content are removed from active systems and backups are overwritten "on a routine cycle"; some data may be kept for legal or fraud reasons. If deletion fails, email support@seriously.app and ask for account and data deletion.

There is no subscription to cancel on a free account. If you buy something, the terms say the purchase terms are shown at checkout: read whether it is a one-time credit pack or a recurring charge before you pay, and since refunds are not promised, start with the smallest option.

    Better options for serious dating

If you want a relationship, the size and intent of the pool matter more than any badge. These are the apps I would try first, each with a hands-on review here:

    • Hinge: prompt-based profiles and a free tier that works; my top pick for dating with intent.
    • eHarmony: long compatibility questionnaire, paid, for marriage-minded daters.
    • Match: the classic paid site, strongest for 30s and up.
    • OkCupid: question-based matching and a useful free version.
    • Bumble and Coffee Meets Bagel: big pools with more structure than a plain directory.

For the full ranking, see my serious dating apps page, or browse all my reviews.

    How I rate it

My 2 out of 5 is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, not on hands-on use. Value for money 2 (free to start, but paid features are unpriced and non-refundable, and the operator's sister app charges per message), safety and verification 3 (required human video review, report and block, honest terms, but five of twelve showcased members are not flagged as vetted), evidence of an active user base 1.5 (no app, no reviews, a mostly dormant homepage showcase), features for its audience 2 (browse and message only, browser only), transparency 1.5 (no prices, the Findmate link only in the legal fine print). Average 2.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the Seriously dating app legit?

Seriously is a real website run by Findmate, LLC, a Delaware company, with published terms and a privacy policy dated June 2026. It is free to join and requires a human-reviewed verification video. The concerns are its unpriced, non-refundable paid features, a mostly inactive homepage showcase, and an operator whose other app charges per message.

    Is Seriously dating app free?

Signing up, recording the verification video and browsing verified members are free, with no credit card. The site offers optional paid features but does not name or price them, and its terms say payments are non-refundable unless stated at checkout.

Can I download Seriously on Android or iPhone?

No. Seriously runs in your phone's web browser and there is nothing to install. The Google Play app that shows up for this search, Serious Dating & Marriage: PM, is an unrelated product.

What dating app is most serious?

For a relationship, Hinge, eHarmony, Match, OkCupid, Bumble and Coffee Meets Bagel have far bigger pools and more structure than Seriously. eHarmony and Match suit marriage-minded daters willing to pay; Hinge and OkCupid have useful free tiers.

Which dating site is best for serious relationships for free?

Hinge and OkCupid are the strongest free options for dating with intent, and Bumble's free version also works. Seriously is free to join, but its small international pool makes it a weak choice for local dating.

What is the most honest dating site?

No site can guarantee honesty. Video verification like Seriously's confirms that a face matches the photos, but its own terms say it is not a background check. Whatever the site, never send money to someone you have not met and video call before meeting.
