Duet Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?
The Duet dating app is real, not a scam in the legal sense: it is run by Wink Tech Limited, it requires users to be 18+, and it has 1M+ downloads on Google Play. But for most people it is a waste of money. Reddit threads and app store reviews keep reporting the same things: likes that arrive before you finish your profile, matches hundreds of miles away unless you pay, and paid plans that cost up to about $130 a month. Use it free if you are curious; I would not pay for it.
What is Duet, and who runs it?
Duet calls itself a dating app for meeting “people you resonate with”, with profiles built around interests (gamers, foodies, bookworms, fitness fans). Its Google Play listing describes these main features:
- Smart Tag: a profile section for your interests, traits, opinions and habits.
- Voice Prompt: a 30-second voice recording on your profile.
- Blind Date: a Dating Quiz that pairs people who answer alike, a Personality Test with a compatibility score, and Duet Clic, which pairs you at random by location and zodiac sign.
- Meet-up Assistant: suggests coffee date times, syncs with your calendar and sends reminders.
- Face verification and a moderation team the listing says works 24/7.
The company behind it is Wink Tech Limited, which the privacy policy describes as incorporated in Delaware, at a Wilmington registered-agent address, with Sygnal E-commerce Limited in Hong Kong as an authorized distributor. Support is by email only: the support page lists support@duetapp.net. The official site is duetapp.net, but it is mostly a download page: plans and prices are only shown in the app and the app stores.
Duet also advertises heavily. One of the top Reddit results for this search is a rant about its ads, and Google’s summary of Reddit threads mentions women criticizing ads that push very quick dates.
Who Duet is for (and who should skip it)
- Could fit: adults who like quizzes, voice prompts and interest tags more than pure photo swiping, live in a big US city, and are happy to stay on the free tier.
- Skip it if: you live in a small town (distance complaints are the most common), you are on a budget, or you want a serious relationship with people who reply. Apps with a long track record do that better.
How matching and messaging work
You swipe through profiles and match when you both like each other; then you can chat. Free users get a limited number of likes a day. Duet does not publish the number: App Store reviewers report anywhere from about 10 to 35 swipes a day.
The paid tiers decide what you see. Premium shows who liked you and removes the like and rewind limits. Messaging someone before you match takes a “Praise”, which comes with Supreme (3 included) or in paid packs. Filters by height, education, purpose and popularity are also Supreme-only, according to the App Store listing. “Crushes” and “Turbo” (a profile boost) are sold separately.
How much does the Duet dating app cost?
Duet is free to download, and you can swipe, match and chat with matches without paying. Everything else costs money, and the prices are high for a young app. These are the in-app purchases on the US App Store:
| Plan or item | Price | Per month | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium, 1 week | $12.99 | about $56 | See who likes you, unlimited likes, unlimited rewind |
| Premium, 1 month | $24.99 (a second entry lists $19.99) | $24.99 | Same |
| Premium, 3 months | $49.99 | $16.66 | Same |
| Supreme, 1 week | $29.99 | about $130 | All Premium perks, 3 Praises (message before matching), advanced filters, Daily Picks |
| Supreme, 1 month | $59.99 | $59.99 | Same |
| Supreme, 3 months | $119.99 | $39.99 | Same |
| 5 Crushes | $9.99 | one-time | Extra crushes |
| 1 Turbo | $4.99 | one-time | Profile boost |
| 5 Duet Praise | $12.99 | one-time | Message before matching |
Prices checked October 2026 on the US App Store; tier perks from the Google Play listing. The price you are offered in the app can differ (the App Store lists two prices for one month of Premium), so read the payment screen before you confirm.
Seen on one monthly scale, the short plans are where the cost explodes: a week of Supreme renewed all month works out to about $130 (weekly price x 52 / 12).

Why is it so expensive? Duet does not explain its pricing. What the listing shows is that the features people want most (seeing likes, messaging first, filtering) are split across two paid tiers, so getting the full app means Supreme. In a reply to one App Store review complaining that Premium should cost $10, the Duet team said it was “re-evaluating our strategy”. If you do pay, the 3-month plans are the cheapest per month, but they lock you in longer.
All plans renew automatically unless you turn renewal off at least 24 hours before the period ends, and the terms say Turbo and Crush items are non-refundable.
Is Duet a scam? What Reddit and app reviews say
Duet is not a scam in the sense of a fake company: it has published terms, a US address, a privacy policy and real apps that get regular updates. The question Reddit asks is whether the activity inside it is real. Google’s AI summary of those Reddit threads lists the same complaints again and again:
- likes and “matches” that pop up right after sign-up, before the profile is finished;
- local filtering behind a paywall, so free users see people in other states;
- paid messages to people who liked you that are never read;
- a hard time deleting the account, with notifications that keep coming.
The app stores tell a split story. On the App Store, Duet has 4.6 out of 5 from 105K ratings. On Google Play, it has 3.7 from 7.03K reviews (both October 2026). The written reviews on both stores are far harsher than the iPhone average suggests. The most helpful Google Play review says age and location filters do not seem to work and that matches listed in the same city turned out to be two hours away. Another calls it a waste of money, with likes only from “obvious bot accounts” and local users visible only on the top plan. A third reviewer, who never paid, wondered whether hundreds of views and likes but only 3 matches meant the numbers were inflated to sell upgrades. App Store reviews add profiles shown 70 or 80 miles outside the chosen range and “she chose you” counters that look staged.
Those are user reports, not proof. Duet’s terms ban impersonation, scripts and fake photos, and the terms say nothing about the company running profiles of its own. But when the same pattern shows up on Reddit and on both stores, treat every early like and every far-away “match” with suspicion.
Does anyone actually use it? Yes, there are real people on it: 1M+ Google Play downloads and over 110K ratings and reviews across both stores show that. Whether there are enough near you is another matter, and reviewers outside big cities say there often are not.
Safety and verification
Duet’s safety tips explain the blue check: go to Verification on your profile page and scan your face, and the check shows that the profile photos belong to that person. The store listings call this an “enforced face verification system”, yet the privacy policy describes Photo Verification as voluntary, with participation that “is optional”. So do not assume every profile is checked: look for the blue badge, and be more careful with anyone who does not have it. The policy also says the face scan creates face geometry data, which is deleted with your account data.
To report someone, open the chat or their profile, tap the ··· button, choose “Report & Block”, pick a reason and attach screenshots. Duet says reports are anonymous and that the person disappears from your matches. Its community guidelines ban photos that are not yours, scams, requests for money, outside links and anyone under 18.
The usual romance scam rules apply. The FTC’s advice is blunt: never send money or gifts to someone you have not met in person, and be wary of anyone who wants to move to another app quickly, cannot meet, or asks for gift cards, wire transfers or crypto. Meet in a public place and tell a friend where you are going.
What none of the Reddit threads mention: the fine print
- Arbitration: the terms put disputes under New York law and binding arbitration, with a waiver of class actions and jury trials.
- Price changes: Duet must warn you 7 to 30 days before a renewal price goes up.
- Data after you leave: closed accounts are kept for three months (three years after a ban) before deletion, and transaction records for ten years. Accounts inactive for two years are closed automatically.
- Coming back: if you open a new account within three months, Duet may pre-fill your old name and photos. That may explain why some reviewers say their old data came back after deleting.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Free to swipe, match and chat with matches
- Face verification with a visible blue check
- Interest tags, voice prompts and quizzes give you more to talk about than photos
- Clear report and block tools, and an option to pause instead of delete
Cons
- Expensive: Supreme runs $59.99 a month, about $130 if you renew weekly
- Seeing likes, messaging first and filters are split across two paid tiers
- Persistent reports of bot-like likes and matches far outside your range
- Verification is not required for everyone, despite the store wording
- Deleting the account does not cancel billing
How to cancel Duet and delete your account
Cancel first, then delete. The terms are explicit: deleting your Duet account or the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Cancel the subscription where you paid, at least 24 hours before renewal. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Duet, Cancel (Apple’s guide). On Android: Play Store, profile icon, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions (Google’s guide). If you paid by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Klarna on Duet’s website, email support@duetapp.net.
- Ask for a refund if you just paid. Duet’s refund policy sends Apple purchases to reportaproblem.apple.com, Google Play purchases to the “Request a refund” button in the Play Store, and website payments to support@duetapp.net. Stopping use mid-period does not earn a refund on its own.
- Delete or pause the account in the app’s settings. The terms say you can end your membership from the account settings page; pausing hides your profile instead and keeps it for later.
- Turn off notifications and SMS. Reviewers say messages about new likes kept coming after deleting. Turn off notifications for Duet in your phone settings, and reply STOP to any Duet text, as the privacy policy allows.
Duet alternatives
Is Duet better than Tinder? Not on the evidence: Tinder has a far bigger pool, which is exactly what Duet’s reviewers say it lacks. If you liked Duet’s interest-and-prompt approach, these are better places to spend your time:
- For prompts and relationship-minded matches: Hinge.
- For women who want to message first: Bumble.
- For a few curated matches a day: Coffee Meets Bagel.
- For the biggest pool of people near you: Tinder.

How I rate it
I give Duet 2.5 out of 5. That rating is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, not on hands-on use. Value for money: 1.5 (up to $59.99 a month for the full app, about $130 on weekly billing, with the key features split across two tiers). Safety and verification: 3 (face scan, blue check, anonymous reporting, but verification is optional despite the store wording). Evidence of an active user base: 3 (1M+ downloads and recent updates, but many reports of empty local areas and bot-like likes). Features for its audience: 3 (voice prompts, interest tags, quizzes and a meet-up assistant). Transparency: 2 (no prices on its website, two prices listed for one plan, and deleting the account does not stop billing).
Frequently asked questions
What does Reddit say about the Duet dating app?
Most Reddit threads are negative. Users describe likes that appear right after sign-up, matches in other states unless you pay for filters, paid messages that go unread, and trouble deleting the account. Treat early likes and far-away matches with suspicion.
How much does the Duet dating app cost?
On the US App Store, Premium costs $12.99 a week, $24.99 a month or $49.99 for three months, and Supreme costs $29.99 a week, $59.99 a month or $119.99 for three months (October 2026). Crushes, Turbo boosts and Praises are sold separately. All plans renew automatically.
Can you use the Duet dating app without paying?
Yes. The app is free to download, and you can swipe, match and chat with matches for free. Seeing who liked you, unlimited likes, messaging before a match and advanced filters all need Premium or Supreme.
How many likes a day do you get on Duet?
Duet does not publish the free daily limit. App Store reviewers report roughly 10 to 35 swipes a day on the free tier. Premium removes the limit.
Is Duet better than Tinder?
Not for most people. Tinder has a much bigger pool of users nearby, which is what Duet reviewers say they miss most, and Duet's full feature set costs more. Duet's interest tags and voice prompts are its main draw.
Does deleting Duet cancel my subscription?
No. Duet's terms say deleting your account or the app does not cancel your subscription. Cancel in iPhone Settings or the Google Play Store first, at least 24 hours before renewal, then delete the account in the app's settings.
