    PolyFinda Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?

    The PolyFinda dating app still exists, under a new name: since June 2026 it is called helloPOLY, run by the same Melbourne company and the same app in both stores. It is legit and free to join, and it is one of the few apps built only for polyamorous, ENM and kink-curious people, but its user base is small. Try the free version first, and only pay for Premium ($29.99 a month on the US App Store) once you see active profiles near you.

    My verdict: A real, actively updated poly app with thoughtful filters (mono or poly, kink, shibari), new SMS verification and a community hub. The catch is the crowd: outside Australia, recent reviews describe a quiet app. Worth a free profile, not a 6-month plan on day one.

    PolyFinda is now helloPOLY: what changed

    If you searched for PolyFinda and landed on a different name, you are in the right place. On 1 June 2026 the founders announced that PolyFinda is now helloPOLY, describing it as the same community, started in 2017 and rebuilt, not a new company. The old polyfinda.com address now redirects to hellopoly.co, and both store listings say "Formerly PolyFinda, same community, new name".

    That matters because one of the top results for this search, a roundup from the Freddie magazine, lists PolyFinda among "shuttered or somehow still barely hanging on" poly apps. The shutdown part is wrong as of October 2026: the App Store listing shows version 8.6.3 released September 3, 2026, and the Google Play listing was updated September 1, 2026. The "barely hanging on" part, the size of the user base, is a fair question, and I come back to it below.

    Who runs it and who it is for

    helloPOLY is operated by Polyamorous Pty Ltd, an Australian company based in Kew, Victoria, according to its Terms of Use (last updated May 2026). Its FAQ says it is based in Melbourne, with community events going back to 2014, and that it is for "anyone whose relationships don't fit the conventional mould, and anyone curious about that life". You must be 18 or older.

    In practice it suits:

    • polyamorous and ENM singles who are tired of explaining themselves on mainstream apps;
    • partnered people dating openly, with their partners' knowledge;
    • kink and rope (shibari) practitioners who want a filter for exactly that;
    • people in or near Melbourne, where the company runs its events.

    It is not for anyone hiding an affair: the community guidelines are built around consent and honesty, and they ban buying or selling sex, scams and fake profiles.

    How matching and messaging work on the PolyFinda dating app

    The app page says you build a profile from more than 10 gender identities and relationship styles, then match on shared relationship styles and interests. The feed filters are the standout: you can show or hide monogamous or polyamorous people, kinky profiles and shibari profiles, so someone looking for a rope partner sees only people who list shibari, and someone who wants no kink at all never sees it.

    Messaging follows the usual freemium pattern. The store listings sell "unlimited likes" and "unlimited messages and chat before matching" as Premium features, which means free accounts have a cap on likes and need a match before chatting. Neither the listings nor the help pages say what the free limits are.

    Community hub, events and voice notes

    helloPOLY positions itself as more than a dating app. The July 2026 release notes add:

    • a community hub with interest groups, event listings and forums, usable even if you are not there to date;
    • voice notes in messages;
    • expanded, optional profile fields for kink roles, group dynamics and rope styles;
    • screenshot protection and an incognito mode.

    The app page also lists local poly meetups, shibari and kink events, parties, and counselors who specialize in alternative relationships. How much of that exists near you depends heavily on where you live: the event history is Australian.

    Is PolyFinda free? helloPOLY Premium prices

    Joining, building a profile, browsing and filtering are free. Premium adds unlimited likes, messaging before a match, seeing who liked you, a visibility boost, incognito browsing (only people you liked can see you), superlikes, "Second Chance" to revisit a skipped profile, and restoring archived chats. The terms add that the "Hot List" (saving profiles you are interested in) is for subscribers only.

    PlanUS App Store priceCost per monthPrice in the terms (AUD)
    Free$0$0Free to join
    Premium, 1 month$29.99$29.99AUD 41.99
    Premium, 3 months$39.99about $13.33AUD 55.99
    Premium, 6 months$59.99about $10.00AUD 83.99

    Prices checked October 2026 on the US App Store listing and in the Terms of Use. The Google Play listing does not show prices before purchase; expect them in your local currency at checkout.

    The real cost, and the cheapest way in

    The pricing has an unusual shape: one month costs $29.99, but three months cost only $10 more. If you decide to pay, the 3-month plan is the sensible entry point, because the monthly plan costs almost as much as a full quarter. The 6-month plan is the lowest per month, but it is a lot to commit to an app whose user base you have not checked.

    Three things to know before you tap buy:

    • Auto-renewal. Every plan renews automatically through Apple or Google until you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period. The App Store text also says Premium "renews monthly", next to 3 and 6 month plans; assume each plan renews at its own length and price, and check your store subscription page after buying.
    • Old price lines. The App Store in-app purchase list still shows older items, such as $9.99 memberships by gender and "250 Credits Male" at $5.99, left over from the PolyFinda days. The Premium plans above are the ones the current listing describes.
    • Refunds. The terms say refund requests go to Apple or Google, not to helloPOLY, and you get no refund for unused time if your account is banned for breaking the rules.

    The cheapest way in is simply the free account: set filters for your style, check how many people are active within your distance over a week, and only then decide.

    Safety, verification and privacy

    helloPOLY has tightened up in 2026. According to the App Store version history:

    • SMS verification became mandatory for new accounts in version 8.6.1 (July 2026), alongside AI-powered photo moderation;
    • screenshot protection arrived in version 8.6.2 (August 2026);
    • incognito mode is part of Premium.

    There is no photo or ID verification badge described anywhere, and the terms are blunt: helloPOLY "does not screen users or verify the accuracy of information on their profiles". To report someone, tap "Flag profile" on their profile or email privacy@hellopoly.co. The community guidelines list warnings, suspension or removal as the consequences.

    On privacy, read the store labels before you join. The App Store privacy label says usage data may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and that location and usage data are linked to you. Google Play says the app contains ads and may share location and device IDs with third parties. If being outed as poly or kinky would cost you, use incognito, keep your face out of your public photos, and do not link other social accounts.

    The usual rules apply on any niche app: video chat before meeting, meet in a public place the first time, tell a friend where you are, and never send money or gift cards to someone you have not met. Anyone who moves the chat off the app fast and then has an emergency is a scam pattern, not a person in need.

    Fake profiles, complaints and app store ratings

    As of October 2026, helloPOLY has 4.2 stars from 272 ratings on the US App Store and 4.4 stars from about 500 reviews on Google Play, with 100K+ downloads. Those are good scores for a small app, but read the low ones:

    • An August 2026 Google Play review calls it "a dead platform", from someone who paid for 3 months and saw "like" notifications with nobody in the "who liked me" list.
    • A May 2026 Google Play review reports being logged out after signing up and an error when logging back in.
    • A May 2025 App Store review describes waiting a week for the verification email.
    • A 2022 App Store review, otherwise positive, names "the size of the online community" as the lingering complaint.

    Nothing in the store reviews, terms or guidelines points to fake-profile farms, but there is no verification badge to rely on either, and several recent 5-star reviews are short and generic, which tells you little. The honest summary: the app works, and the question is whether enough people near you use it.

    Pros and cons

    Pros

    • Built only for poly, ENM and kink-curious people, so no explaining yourself.
    • Filters for mono or poly, kink and shibari that hide incompatible profiles.
    • Free to join; the 3-month plan is cheap per month.
    • Actively updated in 2026: SMS verification, photo moderation, voice notes, community hub.
    • Clear consent-first community guidelines.

    Cons

    • Small user base, especially outside Australia.
    • No profile verification badge; the terms say users are not screened.
    • Contains ads and may share location and device IDs.
    • Confusing price lines: USD in the store, AUD in the terms, legacy credit packs still listed.
    • Recent reviews mention login and sign-up bugs.

    How to cancel Premium and delete your account

    1. Cancel the subscription in your store first. On iPhone, the App Store listing says to turn off auto-renew in your account settings; on Android, Google Play's listing points to Google Play, then Subscriptions. Google Play's listing says you keep Premium until the end of the paid period.
    2. Close the account in the app. The terms say you can close your account from the app's Settings page.
    3. Ask for your data to be deleted if you want it gone. The privacy policy says your personal information is deleted when you delete your account, subject to legal retention; Google Play confirms you can request deletion.

    Deleting the app or closing the account does not stop billing on its own: the store subscription keeps renewing until you cancel it.

    helloPOLY vs the alternatives

    • You want the biggest ENM crowd: Feeld. It is not poly-only (its own site lists "Monogamy only" as an option), but it lets you link profiles with up to 5 people. I rate it 4 out of 5 in my Feeld review.
    • You live far from a big city: a mainstream app with a non-monogamy option has more people. See my OkCupid review.
    • You want a non-monogamy-only social app: #Open, which calls itself a "non-monogamous social networking experience". Read the #Open review.
    • You are a couple looking for a third: 3Fun, more threesome-oriented than poly, or browse the swinger dating sites.
    • Kink is the point: FetLife and the BDSM and kink sites; helloPOLY is the better pick if you want poly dating with a shibari filter.
    • You refuse to pay anything: MoreThanOne says it has no locked features and no ads (3.2 stars, 771 Google Play reviews, October 2026).
    • You would rather meet at events: Plura is built around local events (3.6 stars, 608 Google Play reviews).

    Queer and trans poly daters can also look at the LGBTQ+ dating sites, including Taimi.

    How I rate it

    I give helloPOLY (formerly PolyFinda) 3 out of 5. The rating is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, checked in October 2026, not on hands-on use. Scored 1 to 5: value for money 3 (free entry, cheap 3-month plan, steep single month), safety and verification 3 (SMS verification and photo moderation, but no screening and no badge), evidence of an active user base 2 (100K+ downloads, but recent reviews describe a quiet app), features for its audience 4 (poly, kink and shibari filters, community hub, events), transparency 2.5 (USD and AUD prices that disagree, legacy price lines, ads and tracking). The average rounds to 3.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is PolyFinda still around?

    Yes, under a new name. PolyFinda became helloPOLY on 1 June 2026, run by the same company, Polyamorous Pty Ltd, and the same app in the App Store and Google Play. The old polyfinda.com address redirects to hellopoly.co.

    Is PolyFinda (helloPOLY) free?

    It is free to join, build a profile, browse and filter. Premium adds unlimited likes, messaging before a match, seeing who liked you and incognito mode. On the US App Store it costs $29.99 for 1 month, $39.99 for 3 months or $59.99 for 6 months (October 2026).

    Is PolyFinda legit or a scam?

    It is a legitimate app run by an Australian company since 2017, with 4.2 stars on the App Store and 4.4 on Google Play in October 2026. New accounts need SMS verification, but the terms say users are not screened, so verify matches yourself before meeting.

    Is Feeld only for poly people?

    No. Feeld is built for open-minded dating, and its own site lists Monogamy only and Non-monogamy as options side by side. helloPOLY is narrower: it is built for polyamorous, ENM and kink-curious people.

    What does GGG mean in polyamory?

    GGG stands for good, giving and game: being a good partner, generous with your partners, and open to trying what they enjoy within your limits. You will see it in poly and kink profiles as shorthand for an open, consent-minded attitude.
