Doubble Double Dating App Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?

Doubble, a double dating app where you match as a pair with your best friend, is legit: it is a real app from a Danish company, Doubble ApS, and it is free to download. But for a US reader it is a waste of money right now, because Doubble’s own FAQ says it is only live in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland and Germany. If you live in the US and want to double date with a friend, Tinder’s free Double Date feature is the option that actually works here.

My verdict: A clever idea from a legit company, not a scam, but not available in the US yet. Do not buy Doubble Premium from an American App Store or Google Play account: there is no local crowd to match with, and subscriptions cannot be cancelled mid-period. Use it if you live in one of its seven European countries; everywhere else, try Tinder Double Date.

What is Doubble, and who runs it?

Doubble is a dating app built for double dates: you link up with a best friend inside the app and you only get a conversation when both of you match with a pair of friends. Its tagline is “meet new people with your people”. The company is Doubble ApS, Pilestræde 10, Copenhagen, Denmark (Danish company number 42331007), and the app is listed on the US App Store as “Doubble: Double Dating App” and on Google Play as “Doubble: Dating, Chat, Friends”. The website is doubble.app.

It is still maintained: the App Store shows version 9.11.8 released on September 6, and the Google Play listing was updated on June 29, 2026. Recent updates added voice messages, a travel feature to swipe in other cities and changes to the Tonight screen.

Is Doubble available in the US?

No, not as of October 2026. This is the single most useful fact for an American searcher, and none of the store listings say it. The FAQ on Doubble’s How it works page answers “Where is Doubble available?” with Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland and Germany. The app stores tell the same story through the developer’s own replies:

    • On the US App Store, a reviewer wrote that they live in the US and had no matches; the developer answered that it looks forward to “going live in US too”.
    • On Google Play, a reviewer complained of being stuck in a “review” phase for weeks; in October 2025 the developer replied, “We are not live in your region yet.” Another reviewer in a large city said all their matches were about 300 miles away.

So you can download the app in the US, but the people you would match with mostly are not here. That is why the verdict above is a caution, not a recommendation.

Who Doubble is for (and who should skip it)

    • Good fit: adults 18+ in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland or Germany who would rather meet people with a friend than alone, and anyone who finds one-on-one first chats awkward.
    • Poor fit: anyone in the US for now, and anyone who wants a serious one-on-one relationship from the first message. For that, my serious dating apps page is a better start.
    • Not for: couples looking for couple friends. Doubble pairs singles with singles. Apps such as DoubleDates (doubledatesapp.com) target couples who want to meet other couples as friends.

How the Doubble double dating app works

Doubble has two modes, both described on its How it works page and its About page.

    DoubbleMatch

    1. You set up a profile, connect with a friend inside Doubble and swipe. A match works as on any swipe app, and your individual matches stay private.
    2. Your friend swipes too and gets their own matches.
    3. If the person you matched and the person your friend matched are also friends on Doubble, a “DoubbleChat” opens: a group chat for all four of you to plan the double date.

That third condition is the catch people miss. You and your friend both need a match, and those two matches must be linked as friends in the app. You can browse and swipe without a friend, but Doubble says you need at least one connected friend to unlock DoubbleMatches.

    Going Out (Tonight)

For nights when you already have plans, you create a Going Out group with your friends, pick the night, and browse other groups heading out the same day in your city. The chat disappears when the night ends. The app’s release notes refer to this screen as “Tonight”.

Do you really need four friends?

Two app store reviewers (one on the App Store in April 2025, one on Google Play) said Doubble required “at least 4 friends” before their profile went live. Doubble’s FAQ says you need one friend, and its reply to the Google Play reviewer blamed region, not friend count. My read: the friend requirement is one person, and the “stuck in review” experience is what happens in a country where Doubble has not launched.

Is Doubble free? Prices in the US

Doubble is free to download and use on iPhone and Android, and its FAQ says so. The paid layer is Doubble Premium plus a few one-off items. Doubble does not publish a list of what Premium includes on its website, so the only official numbers are the in-app purchase prices on the US App Store:

What you buyUS App Store priceNote
Free account$0Profile, swiping, DoubbleMatch group chats, Going Out
Doubble Premium, 1 week$5.99, $11.99 or $12.99Several weekly products listed at different prices
Doubble Premium, 1 month$11.99, $22.99 or $24.99Several monthly products listed at different prices
    1 private chat$0.99One-off purchase
    1 boost$4.99One-off purchase

Prices checked October 2026 on the US App Store listing. Google Play shows that the app has in-app purchases but not the amounts. The Norwegian App Store lists the same kinds of products in kroner (Premium 1 month at 299 or 349 kr), Doubble does not explain why one plan has several prices, so check the amount on the purchase screen before you confirm.

Auto-renewal: the part that costs money

The App Store description spells out the terms: a subscription renews automatically within 24 hours before the end of the current period, you turn auto-renewal off in your App Store settings, and “no cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during the active subscription period”. Doubble’s terms add that an account terminated for breaking the rules gets no refund. In the US, where you may get no matches at all, that is money spent on nothing.

    Safety and verification on Doubble

Doubble’s main safety idea is structural: every chat has at least four people, so nobody meets a stranger alone. Beyond that, here is what its own documents promise:

    • Real photos: the community guidelines say your first picture must clearly show your face, fake accounts and impersonation are banned, and each person may have one account.
    • Age: you must be 18 or older. Doubble may ask for age verification only if it suspects a user is underage. There is no ID check or photo verification badge for everyone.
    • No strangers as “friends”: adding people you do not know as friends is flagged as spam and can get you suspended, which protects the pair system from being gamed.
    • Money requests are banned: the guidelines forbid using the platform to solicit money. Treat anyone who asks for money, gift cards or crypto as a scammer and report them.
    • Reporting: the terms say Doubble uses automated systems and human supervisors, and acts on reports of objectionable content within 24 hours.
    • Meeting: Doubble’s own tips are to meet in public for the first few dates and tell someone your plans. On a double date your friend is there, which helps, but agree beforehand how you each get home.

    Your data

To register you hand over a phone number, email, name, date of birth, photos and your location. The privacy policy says Doubble shares limited data such as email addresses and phone numbers with marketing partners like Snap, to exclude you from its ads and build “lookalike” audiences, and that you can object by emailing support. The App Store privacy label also lists usage data used to track you across other companies’ apps.

    Complaints and app store ratings

Ratings depend on the country. In October 2026 Doubble had 4.2 stars from 106 ratings on the US App Store, 4.5 stars from 2.8K ratings on the Norwegian App Store, and 2.5 stars from 242 reviews on Google Play, where it shows 50K+ downloads. The pattern in the complaints:

    • No matches nearby, or matches hundreds of miles away, from US reviewers.
    • Profiles stuck “in review”, and the friend requirement read as gatekeeping.
    • Bugs: a photo upload problem (which the developer said it fixed), and a profile meter stuck at 80% complete.

The good reviews praise the concept and quick replies from support. There is no sign of fake-profile farming or pay-to-chat tricks; the problem is a small user base outside its home markets.

    Pros and cons

    Pros

    • Free to use, with group chats included
    • Always four people in a chat, so less pressure and safer first meetings
    • Going Out mode for meeting other groups the same night
    • Real company with a public address and published terms
    • Actively updated in 2026

    Cons

    • Not live in the US as of October 2026
    • Premium benefits are not published, and US prices are confusing
    • No cancellation during a paid period
    • A DoubbleMatch needs four people to line up, so matches are rarer
    • No universal photo or ID verification

Tinder Double Date: the US option

If you are in the US, this is the double dating app feature you can actually use. Tinder launched Double Date on June 17, 2025, starting in the US, and its help center article, updated in July 2026, explains how it works now:

    • Tap the Double Date icon on the Discovery or Messages screen and invite up to 3 friends to pair up with. You can have up to 3 pairs.
    • Pairs show up side by side in Discovery. When you match with another pair, a group chat opens for the four of you, and you can also swipe right on one person in that pair to open a private chat.
    • It is free, and still described as being tested in select markets. Premium perks such as Boosts and Super Likes do not work with it yet.
    • Tinder’s rules apply to both of you: a violation can lead to action on one or both accounts in a pair.
    • To turn it off, open your profile, tap Settings and scroll to “Double Date”, where you can hide all Double Date profiles or show them more often.

Tinder’s press release says that in testing about 90% of Double Date profiles came from users under 29, women were three times more likely to Like a pair than an individual profile, and people sent 35% more messages in Double Date chats. Those are Tinder’s internal numbers, not independent research. For the rest of the app, my Tinder review covers prices and how the free tier compares, and Tinder itself is at tinder.com.

Which double dating app should you use?

It comes down to where you live and what you want from the night:

Decision chart: in the US use Tinder Double Date, in Doubble’s European countries use Doubble, for friends use Bumble For Friends
Based on Doubble’s FAQ, Tinder’s help center and Bumble’s own page, checked October 2026.
    • If you are single in the US and want a double date: Tinder Double Date, free.
    • If you live in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland or Germany: Doubble, free first, Premium only once you see real matches near you.
    • If you want new friends, not dates: Bumble moved BFF into its own free app, Bumble For Friends, where anyone with two or more matches can start a group plan.
    • If you are already a couple: a double dating app for singles is the wrong tool; look at apps made for couples to meet couples as friends.

Other pair-matching apps exist, such as Vortex from LegacyX UK (5K+ downloads on Google Play), but none has a published track record yet, so I would not pay for any of them before seeing who is nearby.

How to cancel Doubble Premium and delete your account

    1. Cancel the subscription in your store: on iPhone, in your App Store subscription settings; on Android, in Google Play under Payments and subscriptions. Do it more than 24 hours before the renewal date, since the current period cannot be cancelled.
    2. Delete the account in the app: Doubble’s terms say to go to Profile, then Settings, then “Delete my account”. Deleting the account does not stop a store subscription, so do step 1 first.
    3. Ask for your data to be erased: if anything is left, the privacy policy lists your right to erasure and a support address; the website lists support@doubble.app.

    Doubble alternatives

If Doubble is not live where you are, these are solid apps with full reviews on this site:

    • For double dates in the US: Tinder, through its Double Date feature.
    • For women who want to make the first move: Bumble.
    • For relationship-minded one-on-one dating: Hinge.

You can also browse more dating app alternatives or the full list of dating site reviews.

    How I rate it

I give Doubble 2.5 out of 5. That rating is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, not on hands-on use, and it is written for a US reader. Value for money: 1.5 (the free tier is fine, but Premium buys little in a country where Doubble has not launched). Safety and verification: 2.5 (four-person chats, a face-photo rule and 24-hour report handling, but no verification for everyone). Evidence of an active user base: 1.5 (50K+ Google Play downloads and 106 US ratings, and the developer itself says it is not live in the US). Features for people who want double dates: 3.5 (DoubbleMatch, Going Out, travel mode and voice messages fit the idea well). Transparency: 2.5 (terms, auto-renewal and account deletion are documented; Premium perks and US availability are not stated in the store listings).

    Frequently asked questions

How does the Doubble app work?

You connect with a friend inside Doubble and both of you swipe. When you match with someone, your friend matches with someone, and those two people are also friends on Doubble, a group chat opens for all four of you. There is also a Going Out mode to meet other groups heading out the same night.

Is Doubble available in the US?

Not as of October 2026. Doubble's own FAQ lists Denmark, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, Finland and Germany, and the developer has told US reviewers it is not live in their region yet. You can download it in the US, but expect few or no matches nearby.

    Is double date on Tinder?

Yes. Tinder Double Date lets you invite up to 3 friends to form pairs and swipe on other pairs; a match opens a group chat for the four of you. Tinder's help center says it is free and still being tested in select markets.

What has happened to Tinder Double Date?

It is still there. Tinder's help center article, updated in July 2026, describes Double Date as a free feature in testing in select markets, with its own section in Settings where you can hide Double Date profiles or show them more often.

Is Bumble BFF still a thing?

Yes, but not inside the Bumble dating app anymore. Bumble turned BFF into a separate free app called Bumble For Friends, where members with two or more matches can start group plans.

    Is Doubble free?

Yes, Doubble is free to download and use, including group chats. Doubble Premium and one-off items such as a boost or a private chat cost extra; on the US App Store, Premium ranges from $5.99 a week to $24.99 a month, and subscriptions renew automatically.
