DatEmpire Review 2026: Real Profiles or Scam?
The Datempire dating site is a real, working platform run by a registered Cyprus company, so it is not a fake website, but it is a pay-per-minute chat site, not a place to meet someone cheaply. Browsing is free, while every chat minute, message, photo and video costs credits, dollar prices only appear at checkout, and its own FAQ says phone numbers and emails are never passed through chat. I would not spend money on Datempire if your goal is a real date.
What Datempire is and who runs it
Datempire (datempire.com, written "DateMpire" in its own legal pages) sells itself as a social network to "chat and meet girls online". Its homepage tagline is "Lots of Single Women Are Waiting for You". In practice it is an international chat site aimed mostly at men who want to talk with women abroad, the same model as other credit-based sites in this niche.
The company behind it is Sempiterna Digital Limited, a Cyprus company registered under number HE 440404 at 2A Elia Venezi, Athienitis Strovolos Park, Nicosia, according to Datempire's Terms and Conditions (last updated October 23, 2025). The contract is governed by the laws of Cyprus. The domain itself is young: the public domain registry record shows datempire.com was registered on December 8, 2022.
The site publishes no phone number. The only support contact in its policies is support@datempire.com, plus a live chat inside the site.
Datempire dating site reviews: what the top results get wrong
Before you trust anything you read about Datempire, look at who wrote it. The three "reviews" that rank for this search are near-identical spun texts hosted on unrelated businesses, one of them a San Antonio plumbing company's website. Compared with Datempire's own documents, they get several facts wrong:
- Likes: they say a like costs 2 credits. The official FAQ and the terms say likes and winks are free.
- Payment: they mention PayPal and American Express. The FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- Matching: they praise "personality-based matching", compatibility reports and a date planner. Nothing in Datempire's terms or FAQ describes any of these. You find people through search filters, likes and an "online now" list.
- Verification: they claim social media verification. The FAQ describes email verification, an automated photo review and an optional ID check.
Google's AI Overview repeats the same credit list. Go by the official documents below.
How Datempire works
Datempire runs only in a web browser. Its FAQ says it "currently runs as a mobile-friendly website" with native apps to be announced later, and neither the App Store nor Google Play listed a Datempire app in October 2026. Sign-up is free and 18+ only: email, password, age confirmation, then a link in a verification email.
Once inside, per the FAQ:
- Search: filter by interests, languages, age and location.
- Likes and Online now: see who liked you and who is active.
- Chat: live chat billed by the minute, with stickers, photos, audio and video messages.
- Letters: longer messages, billed per message.
- Virtual gifts: paid, price varies by gift.
- Translation: the FAQ notes that many members use third-party translation tools, so expect stilted English.
The FAQ also warns that new profiles "often receive more first messages than established ones". A flood of friendly messages on day one is how the site works, not a sign of special interest.
Free vs paid: what Datempire costs
Datempire publishes its prices in credits, not in dollars. The terms say credit packages are priced in US dollars and that "the price and the corresponding number of Credits will be displayed during the payment process", so you cannot see what a credit costs before you sign up. Here is what each action costs, per the terms and the FAQ:
| Action | Cost |
|---|---|
| Sign-up, profile, browsing, search filters | Free |
| Likes and winks | Free |
| Receiving messages | Free |
| Live chat | 2 credits per minute, per chat |
| First message (letter) to a member | 10 credits |
| Each following message to that member | 30 credits |
| Sticker | 5 credits |
| Send or receive a photo | 10 credits |
| Send or receive an audio message | 10 credits |
| Send or receive a video message | 50 credits |
| Virtual gifts | Varies by gift |
| Dollar price of a credit package | Not published before checkout |
Prices checked October 2026. The FAQ calls its list "illustrative" and says actual prices are shown in the app before each action, and the terms let Datempire change prices "without prior notice", including making free features paid. Note that receiving a photo, audio or video costs you too, not only sending one.
To see how it adds up: a 30-minute chat is 60 credits, and if the other person sends you two photos and a video during it, that is another 70. Three letters back and forth in one thread cost 10 plus 30 plus 30. Whatever a credit costs at checkout, an active conversation burns through a package quickly, and there is no ceiling.
Other money details from the terms and FAQ:
- Automatic Top-Up: if you switch it on at checkout, your card is charged again for the same amount as your last purchase every time your balance drops to 5 credits or fewer. Turn it off in the Credits section. It is not a subscription, but it behaves like one.
- Payments: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Apple Pay or Google Pay. No gift cards, prepaid cards, transfers or crypto. A failed payment is retried once automatically, and your bank may add a foreign exchange fee.
- No spending history: the FAQ admits there is no self-serve record of what your credits were spent on. You have to email support for it.
- Free credits are sometimes added by the site; they are non-refundable.
Real profiles or scam? The contact-exchange problem
The single most important line in Datempire's FAQ is this one: the site "doesn't pass phone numbers, email addresses, social-media handles, or postal addresses through chat, in either direction". Datempire gives safety reasons, and it is true that moving off a platform quickly is a classic scam signal. But on a site that bills by the minute, it also means every conversation stays on the meter. Trustpilot reviewers say exactly this: several describe their contact details being blocked, one even after support told him he could share his number.
On the question of who you are talking to, Datempire's FAQ says profiles "represent real adults" and that it "does not send promotional or motivational messages from real-looking accounts". Its Compliance Policies ban "AI-generated personas/content presented as real people without truthful disclosure and prior written approval". That wording is worth reading twice: it bans undisclosed AI personas unless they have written approval.
The FAQ also, unusually, tells you what to watch for. It has a report reason called "Pressure or manipulation to send / spend", for chats that "constantly steer toward chargeable content", escalating requests for photos or gifts, or replies that "feel scripted to keep you paying". A site does not build that button unless members raise the issue. I cannot prove any single Datempire profile is fake. What the documents show is a business that earns from every minute you chat, blocks the exits, and asks you to report it if the chat feels like it is milking you.
What members complain about
On Trustpilot, Datempire has a 1.6 TrustScore from 95 reviews (October 2026), with 78% one-star and 4% five-star. The company claimed its profile in October 2023, lists itself in Cyprus, and replies to 91% of negative reviews, mostly with a template asking for account details by email. The recurring complaints:
- Cost: credits are expensive and letters, photos and videos all cost extra.
- Blocked contact details: the most specific complaint, matching the FAQ policy above.
- Who is chatting: several reviewers believe profiles are AI-generated or run by paid operators, and many call the site a scam.
- Account deletion: one reviewer says his deletion request went unanswered for two weeks; the company replied that it had been deleted.
- Billing glitches: one describes a contact request button that charged credits without delivering anything.
The few three-star reviews describe "a few enjoyable conversations" but a credit system more expensive than expected. I could not open the Reddit threads Google suggests for this search, so I have left them out.
Safety and verification
Per the FAQ, every profile must confirm an email address and pass an automated review of photos and registration data before it goes live, and human moderators review flagged content. ID verification is optional: you upload a selfie with a government ID to get a Verified badge. There are no background checks mentioned anywhere. You can block anyone from a chat (More, Add to Block List) and report profiles with a reason such as scam, fake profile or pressure to spend. The FAQ says reports are acknowledged within 24 hours and standard cases resolved within 72.
The romance scam rules from the FTC apply on any international chat site: never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you have not met in person, be wary of anyone with a dramatic emergency or a reason they can never meet, and reverse-search profile photos. Datempire itself says it will never ask for money outside its checkout. If you lose money, report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Refunds, cancelling and deleting your account
Datempire's two refund documents do not agree, so read both before you buy:
- The Payment & Refund Policy (updated January 1, 2025) allows refunds within 30 days only for unauthorized card payments with proof. It rules out refunds for "lack of mutual attraction", dissatisfaction with chats or videos, and "discrepancies between user profiles and actual appearance". Credits lost to technical errors or undelivered services can be put back on your balance.
- The FAQ is more generous: US users can request a refund within 30 days of purchase for unused credits, and credits spent on a profile confirmed as fake are refunded.
The refund policy says its main terms win in case of conflict, and the terms say unused credits may be forfeited if your account is terminated. Two more warnings: the refund policy calls a chargeback filed without contacting support first "bad faith" and says "legal action may be pursued", and if you stop answering support's questions for seven days, your claim is closed for good. Disputes go to individual JAMS arbitration with a class action waiver, and Datempire caps its liability at what you paid in the last six months or $100, whichever is more.
To stop paying and leave:
- Turn off Automatic Top-Up in the Credits section, if you enabled it. You get a confirmation email.
- Ask for a refund first of any unused credits: email support@datempire.com with the subject "Refund request", your account email, purchase date and amount. The FAQ says deleting the account makes unused credits non-refundable.
- Delete the account at My Profile, Delete your account. The FAQ says your profile disappears within 24 hours and your data is erased within 30 days, except transaction records (kept 7 years) and anti-fraud logs.
- Keep the emails as proof, given the Trustpilot reports of slow deletions.

Datempire alternatives
If you want to meet someone rather than pay for chats, a site with a flat subscription and a real US pool costs less per conversation and lets you swap numbers when you are ready. With a live review here:

How I rate it
My 1.5 out of 5 is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, not on hands-on use. Value for money 1 (per-minute chat, 30-credit letters, paying to receive media, no dollar prices before checkout, no way to take a conversation off the site), safety and verification 2 (email checks, automated photo review, optional ID verification and a pressure-to-spend report button, but no background checks and verification is not required), evidence of an active user base 1.5 (no app in either store, a domain registered in December 2022, 95 Trustpilot reviews averaging 1.6), features for its audience 2 (search, chat, letters, media, gifts, browser only), transparency 2 (company, address and credit prices are public, but package prices are hidden, there is no spending history and the refund documents contradict each other). Average 1.7, rounded to 1.5.
Frequently asked questions
Is Datempire a legitimate dating site?
Datempire is run by a registered company, Sempiterna Digital Limited in Cyprus, and publishes full terms, so it is not a fake website. But it is a pay-per-minute chat site that blocks phone numbers and emails in chat, and Trustpilot rates it 1.6 out of 5 from 95 reviews (October 2026). Treat it as paid chat, not a way to find dates.
How much does Datempire cost?
Signing up, browsing, likes and winks are free. Chat costs 2 credits per minute, a first letter 10 credits and each next one 30, photos and audio 10 and video messages 50, whether you send or receive them. The dollar price of credit packages is only shown at checkout.
Is there a Datempire app?
No. Datempire's FAQ says it runs as a mobile-friendly website, and there was no Datempire app on the App Store or Google Play in October 2026. Any app claiming to be Datempire is not listed by the company.
Can you share your phone number on Datempire?
Not through chat. Datempire's FAQ says it does not pass phone numbers, emails, social media handles or addresses in either direction, for safety reasons. That keeps every conversation on the paid chat, which is the top complaint on Trustpilot.
How do I delete my Datempire account?
Go to My Profile, then Delete your account, and confirm. Turn off Automatic Top-Up first and ask support@datempire.com about any unused credits before deleting, because the FAQ says unused credits are non-refundable once the account is deleted.
What dating app is 100% free?
Very few are fully free, and Datempire is not one of them. Apps like OkCupid and Hinge let you message matches for free and only charge for extras, which costs far less than paying per minute of chat.
