Cougared Review [2024] - Is it Wild or Tame?

What is Cougared.com & how does it work?

Cougared is for unconventional daters who like to be open minded and date outside the box. Those who like dating outside of the typical age range have a chance to find who they're looking for, in a comfortable atmosphere. I tried digging up some more info on Cougared, but this is one shy dating site because there's not much on it.

Cougared is for you if you are,

✔️Into unconventional dating and age gap relationships.

✔️Open-minded and looking for casual relationships.

✔️Looking to date without breaking the bank. It’s 100% free!

Cougared may not be for you if you are,

✖️Looking for a long-term relationship.

✖️Uncomfortable with dating older women.

✖️Looking for a large user base. This one is fairly small.

So how does Cougared work? It seemed pretty simple. Once I finished signing up on Cougared, there was a waiting period before I could fully access the site. This is because each profile on Cougared gets manually approved which is great! The only weird thing is they tried to immediately send me to Match.com and Mature Adult Friend Finder while waiting. 🤔I already tried and reviewed those so I was just stuck waiting anyway!

After I was approved, I was free to browse around and check out profiles. To find some cougars, head to "search" at the top of the site. Once you find someone you’re interested in, you can send a message, wink, or like their profile!

Is there a Cougared app available?

Unfortunately there’s no Cougared app available! You’ll have to stick to the desktop version or use the mobile web version.

The tl;dr on Cougared

My first impression of Cougared was that it was a good balance of mature and modern, which fit the niche stereotype. Here's what else I noticed about Cougared.com:

• Available to members all over the world.
• Outdated, but simple to use interface.
• You need to wait for your Cougared account to be approved - they suggest going to Mature Adult Friend Finder and Match.com sites while waiting (I found this a lil weird tbh…)
• Cougared.com boasts about having 1000s of members around the world, which isn't too impressive considering most sites have MILLIONS of members..

Here's some questions I had about Cougared that may help you understand what happens once you sign up:

How to cancel Cougared account: to cancel your Cougared.com account, sign in to your profile and go to settings. On the left hand side, click on "cancel my account" and then tick the check box and tap on "cancel account". Simple! They don’t hold you hostage here. 🤣

How to stop receiving Cougared email alerts: if you don't want an email alert every time someone sends you a wink, message, request, etc., then you can disable those. Once logged in, go to settings, click on "my alerts" on the left, and change your email prefs from there.

Is there anything that shouldn't go on the Cougared profile? Profiles get manually screened, so anything with an inappropriate (NSFW) pic will have a greater chance of not getting approved. Also, adding any private info to your profile can get you banned from the site, such as your phone number, email address, home address, etc.

Is there a Cougared mobile app avail? Nooooo! The closest thing to a Cougared app is the mobile-friendly version of Cougared.com.

Is Cougared.com only for younger men seeking older women? No! Even though the homepage says it’s for younger women seeking older women, you can search however you like once you sign up.

What is the signup process like for Cougared?

🐇Extremely fast. Less than 1 minute.

Joining Cougared.com was faster than restarting my laptop! It took me 2 steps to sign up. After that, I had to wait to get my profile approved, which took a while for some reason.

Here's how to sign up for Cougared:

1. Signing up for Cougared was easy and streamlined since I could do everything on one page! I love this type of one stop shopping. Here I could enter my username, email, password, gender, age, country, state/region, nearest town/city, what I’m looking for, a description about myself, and profile photo.

2. Once I fill that out, I'm done with registering and just need to confirm my email! This (and the next screen) is where they mentioned trying out the other dating sites.

3. I'm done in 2 easy steps and just need to wait for my profile to be manually approved, which can take a few hours or longer. Basically, signing up was faster than the approval process took, lol.

Cougared main feed and usability

I wanted to show a pic of the main feed, but since I was still waiting for approval, I could only show a pic of what it looks like after I did a search. There is a lot of info to glean off the feed, including age, gender, location, and whether or not they're online. You can also change between gallery view, basic view, and detailed view.

Additionally, there’s a sidebar with the usual suspects like,

• View all members.
• Saved favorites.
• Who’s online.
• New members.
• Featured members.
• Members with pics.
• Highlighted members.

As far as overall usability, Cougared.com definitely leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to aesthetics and design… you know how important that is to me! Even so, while the layout is very outdated, it’s still generally easy to navigate and use.

One of the best things about Cougared is its search feature! There are plenty of things to search by, which I was thankful for. I was also able to categorize my search results by: detailed view, gallery view, and basic view.

Here are the Cougared search filters I could use for free:

• Gender - male or female.
• Age - from 18-120.
• Country.
• State/region.
• Only display members: with pics, online now, new today.
• Keyword.
• Username.
• Lifestyle, religion, occupation.
• Use quick search: view all members, my saved faves, who's online, new members, featured members, members with pics, and highlighted members.

Is Cougared free?

✔️Yes! Cougared is free to use.

Cougared is definitely free to use - yayyy!!! In a world where things are so expensive, it's nice to see that there are some things in life that I don't have to pay for. Dating should be one of them, but I guess I will if I have to! Lol.

Cougared free vs paid memberships

It generally doesn't cost anything to look for a soulmate IRL, so why should you have to pay online? Cougared understands this, so their users get to date for absolutely free!

There are ads all over the site though, which is the trade-off for not paying any kind of fee to use their dating app.

Cougared app free features

Well bbs, you get to check EVERYTHING out for free!! No, this isn't some crazy joke, I'm for real! Here's what you get to do for free:

• Send messages.
• Send a wink.
• View profile.
• Search with filters.
• Save a search.
• Unlimited chats.

Essentially, doing everything is free – there aren’t any upsells for credits or one-time purchases.

Cougared also has forums to participate in for free if that’s your thing! I’m more of a lurker, so I didn’t actively participate. They’re here if you enjoy it though.

This is normally where I spill the tea on Cougared's premium tier, except there is none!!! Revel in the freeness of it all while dating some hotties and saving some serious dough. It's a win-win for me!

What sets Cougared apart from other cougar dating sites?

Features are an important factor for me when it comes to dating sites, because it's what makes them stick out from the other dating sites and apps. Here's what caught my eye with Cougared:

• I could add members to a block list.
• Verification process upon sign up that surprisingly wasn’t instant.
• Advanced search filters.
• Can do everything for FREE!!

Pros and cons of Cougared

I like to weigh my options when it comes to dating IRL, and virtual dating is no different! To be fair with my Cougared review, I wanted to lay everything on the table, including the good and bad.

Pros of Cougared.com

I won't beat around the bush when it comes to Cougared…so here's what turned me on:

• Did I mention it's FREE?!!
• Advanced search features.
• Profile screening process for safety.
• Super fast sign up process.

Cons of Cougared.com

Here's what some of my turn offs were with Cougared:

• The manual verification process takes FOREVER.
• No mobile app avail.
• Super outdated user interface.
• Limited special features.
• Extremely limited user base.
• Way too many men compared to women.

Is Cougared legit?

This is a tough one for me, because while it may have been legit back in the day, it doesn't seem as legit now. Sure, at the bottom of the homepage it says Copyright 2023, but nothing else about the site shows that it has been updated.

At the top of the homepage, there are 2 "ad" links for Match.com - one to find singles 40+, and one to find singles 50+, but when I clicked on either link, they both took me to a defunct page. I couldn't understand why the site directed its users to other sites, and with BROKEN links! Also, the site itself says they have thousands of members, which is less than most dating sites that have millions of members, so why the long wait? It's more of a deterrent and can turn other users off, especially in today's fast paced environment.

So, final thoughts for my Cougared review?

Tbh, I understand why Cougared is completely free - they need the new members desperately. The verification process takes wayyyy too long especially in a world where everything is instantaneous. Since it's free, there's nothing to lose by signing up - if you can get your profile approved. As far as finding high quality hotties here, the pool is definitely small, so if you’re already in a smaller city… good luck finding someone.
