Sitch Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?

The Sitch dating app is a real product from a real New York startup, not a fake app, but I would not pay for it right now. Sitch replaces swiping with an AI matchmaker that sends you a few hand-picked introductions, yet it only works in five US cities, runs on iPhone only, moved from $90-to-$160 setup packs to a $29.99 monthly subscription in March 2026, and its App Store reviews are full of people who paid and got no setups. If you live in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago or Austin and you are curious, download it free and see who it introduces before you spend anything.

My verdict: Legit company, risky purchase. Free members can receive introductions but cannot chat unless the other person pays, purchases are mostly non-refundable, and the official website was offline in October 2026. Try the free tier in one of its five cities; if you want something serious with a bigger pool, Hinge or Coffee Meets Bagel cost less and have far more people on them.

What Sitch is and who runs it

Sitch is an AI matchmaking app for people who want a relationship and are tired of swiping. Its App Store listing calls it “Sitch: Matchmaking and Dating” (subtitle “Curated Intros for Singles”) and names the seller as Unusual Circumstances Inc. The terms of use give the company’s address in Dover, Delaware, and refer to it simply as “Unusual”, which is the name you will see on support emails (support@unusual.inc).

The co-founders are Nandini Mullaji, a Stanford MBA who writes a dating newsletter, and Chad DePue, a former senior director at Snap, according to the a16z speedrun company page, which lists Sitch in its accelerator cohort.

One naming trap: “Sitch Ai” by Idea Garden LLC is a different App Store app that sells dating advice. If you want the matchmaker, look for the seller Unusual Circumstances Inc.

Who Sitch is for (and who should skip it)

    • Good fit: busy singles in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago or Austin (the five cities on the App Store listing) who want a few curated introductions a month and are happy to answer a lot of personal questions up front.
    • Poor fit: anyone outside those cities, anyone on Android, and anyone who wants to browse lots of profiles or match fast. News coverage from Gothamist noted that getting accepted could take up to three weeks and matches could take days or weeks.
    • Not for: casual dating. The App Store rates the app 18+ and the whole process is built around long-term compatibility.

    Is Sitch on Android?

No. The App Store listing says the app is for iPhone only, and a search of Google Play in October 2026 shows no Sitch matchmaking app from Unusual Circumstances. The terms mention Google Play billing, so an Android version may come later, but today there is nothing to download.

How the Sitch dating app works

According to the App Store description and the terms, the process looks like this:

    1. Onboarding with the AI matchmaker. You answer questions in a chat with the matchmaker (the app calls her Hailey) about what you want, your non-negotiables and your nice-to-haves. Press coverage describes deep questions about values and dealbreakers, and Sitch shows you a summary of your preferences sorted into categories like red flags.
    2. Human review. The listing says “every profile is reviewed by real people on our team”.
    3. Curated introductions. Instead of a feed, you get introductions one at a time, each with photos, background and a short explanation of why this person could be a fit. You can ask the matchmaker questions about the person.
    4. Feedback. After each introduction you tell the matchmaker what worked and what didn’t, and it is supposed to adjust.
    5. The setup. If you both say yes, Sitch opens a group chat with the two of you and the matchmaker, who then steps back so you can plan a date.

Two caveats from the fine print. The terms warn that the AI assistants “may provide information that is an inaccurate or inappropriate response”, and Mullaji herself told CNBC, quoted by Futurism, that the AI “can go rogue with the conversation”. And you never see how many members are in your area, which is exactly what several App Store reviewers complain about.

Is Sitch free? Sitch dating app cost in 2026

Sitch is free to download, and a free account (the terms call it a Freemium Account) can build a profile and receive curated introductions. The catch is in section 8 of the terms: free members “will not be able to chat with those matched users unless the other user has a Subscriber Account or Legacy Account”. In practice, at least one of you has to pay before a setup can turn into a conversation.

Almost every article about Sitch still quotes the old prices: $90 for three setups, $125 for five, $160 for eight. Those packs are gone. The terms say Connection Pack sales ended on March 9, 2026; people who already bought packs keep a Legacy Account and can use their credits, which expire 12 months after purchase and are only spent when a chat actually starts. New members now buy a subscription. Sitch’s website does not publish a price list, so the US App Store is the only place to see prices:

Item on the US App StorePriceStatus
    Sitch Monthly$29.99Current subscription
1 Setup$24.99 or $34.99Old pack (sales ended March 2026 per the terms)
    3 Setups$89.99Old pack
    5 Setups$124.99Old pack
    8 Setups$159.99Old pack

Prices checked October 2026 on the US App Store listing. The listing still shows the packs even though the terms say they are no longer sold; I could not settle which is current from the outside, so assume the subscription is what you will be offered. The terms also mention one- and two-month subscription lengths without listing prices.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each term. Cancel less than 24 hours before the end and you will be charged for the next one anyway, and canceling never refunds the term you are in: you keep the paid features until it ends, then drop back to a free account.

Sitch refunds: the rules that actually apply

Refunds are the biggest source of anger in Sitch reviews, so read the refund policy (updated March 12, 2026) before you pay. It splits people into two groups.

Flow chart of Sitch refund rules: old setup packs refunded after 6 months without a setup, subscriptions only in narrow cases
Rules from Sitch’s refund policy (March 12, 2026) and terms of use, checked October 2026.
    • Subscribers who joined after March 12, 2026: subscriptions are non-refundable, with three exceptions. You change your mind within 3 business days (you ask Apple, through its refund request page). You move somewhere Sitch is not live and will not be within six months. Or you paid more than $25 a month, kept your availability on, and got no candidate at all for two months in a row, in which case Sitch refunds you minus a 15% cancellation fee.
    • Setup pack buyers from before March 12, 2026: a full refund if you were not set up with anyone within 6 months of joining, as long as you stayed “available for Setups” and kept answering the matchmaker; or if you move out of Sitch’s cities.
    • No refund for: deactivating your account, being unavailable for a long stretch, changing your mind after the statutory window, “unreasonable” expectations of speed, breaking the rules, or finding a partner (you can give leftover credits to a friend, not cash them out).

The terms add that residents of California, New York and Illinois can cancel without penalty before midnight of the third business day after purchase. Notice the word “active” everywhere: one App Store reviewer says a refund was refused partly because their “yes rate” was low, which matches the policy’s requirement that you respond consistently. Sitch decides who qualifies.

    Safety and verification

Sitch’s main safety feature is the human review the App Store listing promises for every profile, plus the fact that nobody can message you until you have both said yes. Beyond that, the terms are frank: the company does not generally verify users’ identities or run background checks, and it “may, but is not obligated to” pre-screen or review content. There is no ID or selfie verification described in the listing or terms.

So treat a Sitch match like any other online date: keep the first meeting in a public place, tell a friend where you are, and never send money to someone you have not met. The FTC’s romance scam guide lists the red flags (pushing you off the app, excuses not to meet, sudden emergencies, requests for gift cards or crypto), and you can report fraud at ReportFraud.ftc.gov. Problems with a member go to support@unusual.inc.

Sitch dating app reviews: what users complain about

On the US App Store, Sitch has 3.9 stars from 2,592 ratings (October 2026), a small number for a dating app. The written reviews shown on the listing are far harsher than the star average. They describe:

    • paying for setups and receiving none after months, or very few introductions;
    • introductions that ignore stated dealbreakers and age ranges;
    • no way to tell how many people are on the app in your city;
    • matches who never reply, and an AI matchmaker that repeats itself;
    • slow, AI-driven customer service and refunds that are hard to get.

Positive reviews exist too: some members say the introductions felt more intentional than Hinge, and the press has quoted members who went on second dates. But the pattern of “paid, waited, nothing happened” is the one to weigh, especially now that a free member cannot even reply to a match without someone paying.

Two more warning signs as of October 2026: the company’s website, joinsitch.com, returned a “Site Not Found” page, and the last App Store update (version 1.2.6182, July 10, 2026) only says “Improvements and upgrades”. The app is still on sale and the terms and refund policy were updated in March 2026, so Sitch is not shut down, but it does not look like a company in growth mode.

    Pros and cons

    Pros

    • No swiping: a few curated introductions with a reason for each
    • Every profile reviewed by staff, per the App Store listing
    • Detailed preferences and feedback after each intro
    • Free to download and receive introductions
    • Written refund rules, including a 6-month rule for old setup packs

    Cons

    • Only five US cities and iPhone only
    • Free members cannot chat unless the other person pays
    • Subscriptions auto-renew and are mostly non-refundable
    • No identity verification or background checks
    • Many App Store complaints about no setups and poor support
    • Official website offline, no published price list
    • Binding arbitration and class action waiver in the terms

How to cancel Sitch and delete your account

    1. Cancel the subscription first. In the app: Profile, Subscription, Cancel Subscription. If you paid through Apple, you can also cancel in iPhone Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Sitch (Apple’s steps). Do it at least 24 hours before renewal.
    2. Then delete the account. In the app: Settings, Account Management, Delete account, or email support@unusual.inc. The terms warn that deleting your account does not cancel your subscription, deleted accounts may not be recoverable, and Sitch can keep account records for up to four years for legal reasons.
    3. Want to keep your options open? If you might claim a refund under the 6-month or two-month rules, do not just deactivate: the policy says deactivating alone does not qualify, and you have to stay available for setups.

The terms also send disputes to binding arbitration with the American Arbitration Association. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting the terms by mailing a written notice (name, address, account email and a clear opt-out statement) to the company’s Dover, Delaware address listed in the terms.

    How I rate it

I give Sitch 2 out of 5. That rating is based on public pricing, features, safety tools, app store reputation and value, not on hands-on use. Value for money: 1.5 (free members cannot chat on their own, and many paying reviewers report no setups). Safety and verification: 2.5 (staff review every profile and messaging needs mutual consent, but there is no ID verification or background check). Evidence of an active user base: 2 (five cities, iPhone only, 2,592 App Store ratings, frequent complaints about empty pools, website offline). Features for its audience: 3 (a genuinely different, no-swipe matchmaking flow with feedback). Transparency: 2 (the terms and refund policy are detailed, but there is no published price list and the App Store still shows packs the terms say are discontinued).

    Frequently asked questions

How much does the Sitch dating app cost?

Sitch is free to download, and free members can receive introductions. To chat with a match, at least one of you needs a subscription; the US App Store lists Sitch Monthly at $29.99 (October 2026). The old setup packs ($89.99 for three, $124.99 for five, $159.99 for eight) stopped being sold in March 2026, according to Sitch's terms.

Is Sitch legit or a scam?

Sitch is a real app from Unusual Circumstances Inc., a venture-backed New York startup, and it is still on the App Store. It is not a scam in the legal sense, but many App Store reviewers say they paid and got few or no setups, and refunds are only available in narrow cases. Try the free tier before paying.

    Is Sitch available on Android?

No. As of October 2026 Sitch is listed on the App Store for iPhone only, and there is no Sitch matchmaking app on Google Play. Android users will need another app for now.

What cities is Sitch available in?

The App Store listing names New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago and Austin, with more cities promised. If you move somewhere Sitch is not live and will not be within six months, its refund policy lets you ask for your money back.

Can I get a refund from Sitch?

Only in specific cases. Subscriptions bought after March 12, 2026 can be refunded within 3 business days through Apple, if you move out of Sitch's cities, or minus a 15% fee if you got no candidate for two months in a row. Older setup packs are refundable if you were not set up within 6 months while staying active.
