I'm kind of a geek by default: I love words, writing, reading, witty podcasts, etc. so when my really smart friend said he was having trouble meeting women, I got to thinking. I told him that I've been on a kick lately with these "geeky" dating sites I found, and suggested he check one out.
When we did a search, Geek Nerd Dating popped up, I realized I hadnât tried that one before. We both signed up â I decided to check it out for myself too and see if I could find the geek of my dreams!
While the design wasnât as obviously targeted towards special interests like SoulGeek or TrekPassions (SciFi), it was clean, concise and let me know exactly what I could expect, including what I could do with a free account vs. a paid one. It also looks like itâs targeting those with broader interests that self identify as geeks or nerds, so the member base should be a lot bigger than some of the other niche geek dating sites as well. Iâm excited to share what I find in my Geek Nerd Dating review!
Geek Nerd Dating is a site where intelligent people can meet others across any number of interests â and itâs open to those who are straight or LGBTQ! When I was looking up some Geek Nerd Dating reviews, I was getting mixed information on who owned the site and there wasn't much info about it in general.
From my own research, it appears that Online Connections Inc. owns GeekNerdDating.com, along with 100+ other dating sites with specific niches, and is located in both Florida and London. The site was registered in 2011, so unless they switched domains, itâs about 14 years old.
What I can say is that it seems to be more male dominated, not as inclusive as other sites, and has plenty of search options to get what I want faster.

Once you sign up, set up your profile, and decide if you want to get verified or not, they offer suggested matches similar to how Tinder does with a âPassâ or âYesâ option, but you can also search the entire Geek Nerd site to become your own matchmaker! They have something called the âIntroduction Serviceâ which is a mass message you can customize for them to send to singles in your area, and any new members that join as well if you want them to!
There's also a quick search and the ability to browse members based on a snippet of their pic.
Once you find someone youâre interested in, you can do any number of things depending on your account type â like their profile, add them as a friend, send them a private message, or flirt with them. Overall, the flow and features of this dating site felt very similar to others, which isnât necessarily a bad thing!

I was able to sign up easily right from Geek Nerd Dating's website! Itâs a little lengthy so make sure to sign up when you have a good amount of free time availâŚhere's what's involved with the process:

14. Time to tell people about myself and what I'm looking for. I get up to 200 characters here.

You can choose to skip this, but donât go too long without adding one because you wonât get as many responses to your messages or interest in your profile. I found out I could add videos to my profile after I finished signing up, too.

One of the best ways to find someone on a dating site is to search for them! Fortunately, Geek Nerd Dating has a great search feature where I was able to narrow down my results.
Here's what I was able to filter by in basic search on GeekNerdDating.com:
The advanced search filters let me get super specific with who I was looking for! I could search everything from appearance, to their situation (like whether or not they have/want children, furbabies, what their living arrangements are, etc) to what they like to do for leisure and fun.
I could also search by interests, aka, what theyâre looking for. For example, if theyâre looking for a long term relationship, an activity partner (aka, someone to game with!), dating, just friends, etc.

There was plenty to like about the Geek Nerd Dating site. Here's what kept me coming back for more:
While I love the whole concept of the Geek Nerd Dating site, there were a few things that stood out in a not so good way. Here's what they were:
I was really excited to check this site out, but I didn't really get many responses. I did however get almost 100 messages over the first few weeks of using it that were mostly the introduction service feature. Besides that, it doesn't seem like a ton of people actively use this site. There weren't many Geek Nerd Dating reviews⌠which tells me they don't get a lot of traffic to their page.
Of the people I did see on there (with photos), they did seem legit. I found turning on a message filter to weed out people without profile photos helped me only get contacted by those who at least put in the effort to add one.
Considering the price point, it didnât feel like it was worth paying for an extended membership. That said, I'm not sure if it's due to lack of advertising or just a lack of interest in people wanting to date geeks/nerds, but it's still worth checking out the free account, trial, or just one month and seeing if itâs for you! Who knows, maybe youâll have more people in your area that are active than me.
