Flirt.com Review 2026: Legit or Waste of Money?
Flirt.com is a real online dating site, run by a registered US company, so it is not a scam in the legal sense. But for most people it is a waste of money: US prices stay hidden until the payment page, every plan and trial renews automatically, refunds are rare, verification is a phone check only, and reviews on Trustpilot and the App Store are dominated by complaints about fake profiles and paywalled chat. If you want to flirt and date online, start with a free app that shows its prices up front.
What Flirt.com is and who runs it
Flirt.com is a browser-based dating site for adults looking for casual chat and dates. Its About us page says it has been connecting singles since 1997, serves 45 countries in more than 20 languages, and is a leading site for LGBT singles too. The homepage pitches it to men seeking women, women seeking men, gay men and lesbian women.
The company behind it is Apricot West LLC, registered at 7901 4th St N, Suite 300, St. Petersburg, Florida, according to the Flirt.com Terms of Use. The same terms describe the service as "a social networking website for adults, designed as a forum for meeting new people, engaging in discussions of a sexual nature, and sharing photos". That tells you what kind of site it is: casual and flirty, not a relationship service. Members must be 18 or older, and where state law requires it, Flirt.com can demand ID, a selfie or another age check.
Who Flirt.com is for, and who should skip it
- Might suit: adults who want casual, flirty chat in a browser, are fine paying for messaging, and will read the payment page line by line before entering a card.
- Skip it if: you want a long-term relationship, verified profiles, a clear price before signing up, or an easy refund. Also skip it if you are on a tight budget: the free tier is a teaser, not a usable dating service.
- Not for: anyone under 18. The terms bar them outright.
How Flirt.com works: search, Like Gallery and Flirtcast
There is no compatibility quiz. You sign up free with your gender, age, postal code and email, add photos, and then meet people in a few ways the Flirt.com homepage lists:
- Search: filter members by location, age, appearance and interests, with distance shown on each profile. The About us page stresses that you can contact people you have not matched with.
- Like Gallery and Matches: a swipe-style gallery, a list of mutual likes and a "Liked you" list.
- Winks: a quick nudge to show interest.
- Flirtcast: a mass message sent to many members at once. Flirt.com presents it as a shortcut; it also means a message you receive may have gone to many people at once.
- Messenger and chat rooms: one-to-one chat and group rooms, mentioned on the About us page.
One clause in the terms is worth knowing before you chat. Flirt.com screens "Custom Messages" such as Flirts and intro messages, and if a message breaks its rules (contact details, links, offensive words), "the system may prevent its delivery or replace the non-compliant parts with standard system templates". So what the other person receives may not be exactly what you typed.
Is Flirt.com free? Free vs paid
Signing up and browsing are free. The homepage FAQ says free members can "give messaging a try" before upgrading, and that a paid membership adds unlimited messaging, photos and videos in chat, and premium customer support. The terms are blunter: without a subscription "you will not be able to use all the features", and other members cannot use the site to communicate with you, special offers aside.
| Feature | Free member | Paid member |
|---|---|---|
| Sign up, profile, photos | Yes | Yes |
| Search, Like Gallery, winks | Yes | Yes, plus extended search |
| Messaging | A limited trial | Unlimited |
| Photos and videos in chat | No | Yes |
| Premium support | No | Yes |
Features as described on the Flirt.com homepage FAQ and About us page, checked October 2026. Flirt.com does not publish a full feature grid.
How much does Flirt.com cost? The real price
This is the part no ranking page answers, because Flirt.com does not publish US prices. The terms say the fees "are set out on the payment page at the point of making payment" and ask you to "review the payment page very carefully". What the public record does show:
| Where you pay | What is published | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Website (US) | No price before the payment page. Plan lengths: 1-day, 3-day or 1-week trials, and 1, 3 or 6-month packages | Terms, section 4 |
| iPhone app | Three "Flirt Premium" in-app purchases: $9.99, $12.99 and $14.99, period not stated | App Store listing |
| Japan (legal notice) | 3-day trial 240 yen a day, 1 month 6,800 yen, 3 months 4,950 yen a month, 6 months 3,933 yen a month; fees for male members, free for female members (some services may require payment) | Flirt.com legal information |
Prices checked October 2026. The yen list is the only full price list Flirt.com posts publicly; it applies to Japan, not the US, but it shows the usual shape: a cheap-looking trial and a monthly price that drops on longer plans.
Four billing rules from the terms matter more than the sticker price:
- Trials renew. "When you subscribe to any package, including the trial period, you will become liable for automatic renewal billing." Every plan renews at the same length and rate until you cancel.
- A card check charge. Flirt.com may debit a random $0.50 to $5 to verify your card, refunded within 3 to 5 days.
- Price changes are emailed at least 7 days before they apply.
- Refunds are the exception. No refunds "unless there are extenuating circumstances" such as the site not working; dissatisfaction or "buyer's remorse" do not count. Only the most recent recurring payment can be refunded, disputes must be raised within 3 months, and purchases made through Apple are not refunded by Flirt.com.
Is there a Flirt.com app?
The sources contradict each other. The FAQ on the Flirt.com homepage says "Flirt.com does not" have an app and offers a mobile browser version instead. Yet Apricot West LLC, the company named in the Flirt.com terms, publishes Flirt: Chat & Date on the App Store, rated 18+, with its privacy policy hosted on flirt.com. On the App Store it has 2.3 stars from just 12 ratings (October 2026), and the most visible review calls it "a total scam and full of fakes". A Google Play search in October 2026 showed no app from Apricot West, so Android users are on the mobile site.
Don’t mix it up: other apps called Flirt
Search "flirt dating online" and Google mixes Flirt.com with apps that have nothing to do with it. Before you download anything, check the developer name:
- Flirt.com and the iPhone app Flirt: Chat & Date: Apricot West LLC.
- My Flirt: Meet People Nearby on Google Play: a different developer, 4.6 stars from 18,738 ratings and 1M+ downloads (Google Play, October 2026).
- Flirt Hookup on Google Play: published by "Flirt Friends with Benefits App", 3.9 stars from 47 ratings, 10K+ downloads (Google Play, October 2026).
- Flirtini, FlirtForDate, Flirthut and Only-Flirts are separate brands too. My Only-Flirts review covers that one.
Is Flirt.com legit? Safety and verification
Legit as a company, yes: a named operator, a US address, a toll-free number and long terms. Safe and verified, much less so. The terms say in capital letters: "WE DO NOT CONDUCT ANY BACKGROUND CHECKS, CRIMINAL CHECKS OR IDENTITY CHECKS ON ANY OF THE SITE’S USERS." Here is what Flirt.com does offer, per its terms and About us page:
- Verified Member: you confirm your phone number by text, voice call or a toll-free call. The terms say this "is not a guarantee of the genuineness or genuine intentions of a person".
- Safe Mode: limits search results and incoming messages. Flirt.com reserves the right to limit it to paying members.
- Photo moderation: every uploaded photo is approved by moderators.
- Suspicious-user notices: the About us page says Flirt.com will warn you when a contact is "under observation".
- Age checks where state or national law requires them.
Two more lines in the terms deserve your attention. Flirt.com "may use internal technical accounts solely for the purposes of quality assurance, security testing, and feature optimization", which "do not represent actual users". And user numbers do not line up: the homepage claims "over 400 000 users online", while the About us page says "over 1,000,000 users worldwide" across 45 countries. Neither says how many are active in the US.
Flirt.com’s own safety tips are solid and match what the FTC says about romance scams:
- Never send money or financial details to someone you met on the site, whatever the story. Report the request to Flirt.com straight away.
- Refuse early requests to move to another app or text. Be wary of anyone who avoids a short video call.
- Meet in a busy public place, tell a friend where you are going, and arrange your own transport.
- Block and report fake profiles, money requests, spam and abuse. Behavior complaints go to complain@flirt.com.
- If you lost money, call your bank or card issuer and report it at ReportFraud.ftc.gov, as the FTC advises.
Fake profiles and complaints
On Trustpilot (October 2026), Flirt.com has no TrustScore: Trustpilot says the rating is unavailable "due to a breach of our guidelines" and that it removed fake reviews for this company. Of the 401 reviews still shown, 89% are 1 star. The recurring complaints are fake or bot-like profiles, messages that push you toward paying, short trials that turned into recurring charges, and paid chats that got no replies. A minority of reviewers report real conversations. On the App Store, the iPhone app sits at 2.3 stars from 12 ratings.
None of this proves every profile is fake. It does mean the burden of proof is on the site, and Flirt.com publishes nothing (no active-user audit, no verification rate) that answers it.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Free to sign up and browse, with no app needed.
- Open to straight, gay, lesbian and bisexual singles.
- Search by distance, age, appearance and interests, and you can message people you have not matched with (with a paid plan).
- A named US operator, toll-free phone support and a useful safety tips page.
- Phone verification and Safe Mode exist.
Cons
- No US prices before the payment page.
- Every trial and plan renews automatically; refunds only in "extenuating circumstances".
- No identity or background checks; the verified badge only proves a phone number.
- Flirtcast mass messages and template-replaced messages make conversations feel less real.
- Trustpilot withholds its score after removing fake reviews; 89% of remaining reviews are 1 star.
- Conflicting user numbers and conflicting answers on whether an app exists.
How to cancel Flirt.com and delete your account
Cancel where you paid, and do it before the renewal date: per the terms, you "must terminate your subscription prior to the end of the subscription period" to avoid the next charge.

- Paid on the website: log in, open My Settings and follow the Remove Account link. The terms say this cancels both the subscription and the membership.
- Or by phone or email: call 1 (800) 951-5944 or email support@flirt.com with your screen name and sign-up email so they can confirm you own the account. Keep a copy of your request.
- Paid in the iPhone app: Apple bills you, so cancel in iPhone Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions. The App Store listing says it renews unless turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Check your statement after the renewal date. If you were charged after cancelling, contact Flirt.com within 3 months, as the terms require for billing disputes.
UK and EU residents have a 14-day cancellation right with a pro-rated refund, per the cancellation policy. US members have no equivalent in the terms.
Better ways to flirt and date online
If you came here asking for the best online flirting site, or the cheapest one to join, these have live reviews on this site and publish their terms clearly:
- Free to join, relationship-minded: OkCupid says it matches you on "what really matters"; I rate it 4 out of 5 in my OkCupid review.
- Casual and busy: Tinder is the obvious swipe app for casual dating; see my Tinder review (4 out of 5).
- Social and free to chat: my Badoo review (3.5 out of 5) covers a big social app that is free to join.
- Explicitly hookup-focused: my Adult Friend Finder review (3.8 out of 5), or the full list of hookup dating sites I rank.
How I rate it
This rating is based on Flirt.com’s public pricing and terms, its features, its safety tools, its reputation on the App Store and Trustpilot, and value for money, not on hands-on use. Each criterion is scored 1 to 5: value for money 1.5 (no public US prices, paid messaging, auto-renewing trials), safety and verification 2.5 (phone check and Safe Mode, but no identity checks), evidence of an active user base 1.5 (conflicting claims, 12 App Store ratings, mostly negative Trustpilot reviews), features for its audience 3 (search, gallery, chat rooms, Flirtcast), transparency 1.5 (hidden prices, template-replaced messages, a "no app" FAQ contradicted by an App Store app). The average is 2 out of 5.
Frequently asked questions
Is Flirt a legit dating app?
Flirt.com is a real dating site run by Apricot West LLC of St. Petersburg, Florida, so it is not a fake company. But it runs no identity or background checks, its verified badge only confirms a phone number, and Trustpilot withholds its score after removing fake reviews. Treat it with caution.
How much does Flirt cost?
Flirt.com does not publish US prices before the payment page. Its terms list 1-day, 3-day and 1-week trials plus 1, 3 and 6-month plans, and the iPhone app lists Flirt Premium at $9.99, $12.99 and $14.99 (October 2026). Every plan, trials included, renews automatically until you cancel.
Is Flirt good or bad?
For most people it is a poor deal: messaging needs a paid plan, prices are hidden until checkout, refunds are rare and complaints about fake profiles dominate its reviews. It may suit adults who want casual browser-based chat and will cancel the trial on time.
What is the best online flirting site?
For casual flirting with a large audience, Tinder is the obvious start, and OkCupid is free to join if you want something more relationship-minded. Both show their terms clearly and have far more public ratings than Flirt.com.
What is the cheapest dating site to join?
Mainstream apps such as Tinder and OkCupid are free to join and let you start without paying. Flirt.com is also free to join, but messaging beyond a short trial requires a subscription.
What text will make him chase you?
No message makes someone chase you, and games tend to backfire. Keep messages short, reference something specific from their profile, and suggest a plan or a next topic. If someone pushes for money, explicit photos or a move to another app early on, stop replying.
