What is DateFit and who is it for?
Datefit is a health inspired fitness dating app to bring together people who are
searching for a relationship (romantic or friendly) and care about their
physical health as well. Datefit was created by Steve Macecevic who launched the
app in 2019 - so it's new to the dating scene, but has nearly 1 million members
nationwide! Datefit just did a facelift of their iOS dating app, so I'm excited
to check that out, but don't worry, 'Droid users, cuz there's an upgrade coming
for you soon!
Who is Datefit best for?
✔️US based Singles who are looking for long-term relationships, or friendship.
✔️Singles looking for fit, healthy partners.
✔️Someone who wants the algorithm to help with matching.
✔️Someone seeking simplicity in a dating app.
Who may not benefit from using Datefit:
✖️Users feeling more comfortable with profile verification – that’s not a thing
✖️Singles who are looking to hookup or casual dating.
✖️Those who don’t make health a priority in their lives.
✖️Someone seeking a fitness dating site with a large member base.
How does Datefit work?
Downloading the Datefit app is free and the signup process is easy to follow.
There’s no desktop version, so after downloading and signing up for the app,
members can create a profile with their basic info such as: name, location,
occupations, pics, fitness interests and goals, hobbies, and more.
Then, Datefit will match you with 50 matches that align with your interests and
profile, called your “daily workout.” These show up in your main feed so you can
give them a thumbs up or thumbs down depending on if they’re someone you want to
connect with. Once you find someone you like and hit the thumbs up, you can’t
message them unless you upgrade. You have options to adjust who you’re looking
for as well, so if you don’t like who you’re seeing, make some tweaks.
There's also the option to browse by gender (if you selected multiple) and
location, put Datefit's algo gods to work, swipe through pics, or find in-person
fitness and singles events. If you accidentally pass on someone, you can always
Oh - one more thing! You can choose whether you're looking to find a date or a
friend to work out with - it's not just a dating app. There’s an option to make
the switch in the top right of the app.
Is Datefit legit?
When I read a Datefit review from companies like Cosmopolitan or Women's Health,
then I know it's legit! While Datefit is a relative newcomer in the fitness
dating space, the founder, Steve Macecevic, isn't. Steve has been involved in
the dating scene since 2007 (when dating sites were still a thing), so he has
the experience and reputation that helps make this dating app legitimate.
Also, I love the fact that there is an app and that the user interface is modern
and not outdated like some other dating sites I've seen.
As far as user safety, they don’t permit inappropriate, sexual, violent or
grotesque photos of any kind, so they work hard to keep Datefit clean of
anything that may be offensive or make members feel uncomfortable – the same
with comments or messages.
While this isn’t related to legitimacy per se, if you find a match on Datefit,
they have an application you can fill out so they can help you with your first
date together – and it’s all on them!
📝 The TL;DR on Datefit.com
First impressions are everything, and Datefit made its mark on me. Here's what I
noticed about the Datefit dating site:
- Healthy-forward dating app that focuses more on fitness and less swiping on
- Events are a fun way to meet others in a comfortable environment.
- The Datefit app was based off of a fitness-inspired cruise.
- No way to verify profiles.
- There’s an app for iOS and Android, but no desktop version.
- Fairly limited in features.
- You’re required to sign up with your phone number! If that makes you
uncomfortable, this isn’t the fitness dating app for you.
I had some questions that I needed answered while working on this Datefit
review! Here's what had to know:
How to delete Datefit account:
if you need to delete your
Datefit account, you can do so at any time. Just open up the Datefit app, log
in, and click on your profile pic. Then, look for the "Settings" option, click
on “Delete Account” wayyyy at the bottom, and follow the steps to delete your
How can I get more profile boosts?
I was able to get 3 profile
boosts AND a VIP status badge by sending an invite to 3 of my friends and having
them all join!
What's the Daily Workout?
The daily workout is basically
Datefit's version of the main feed - where all the action is!
How do matches work with Datefit?:
Datefit will choose 50
matches for you per day, based on the information you enter in the “Who I’m
Looking For” section of your account.
Is Datefit free to use?:
Yes, bb! There’s a free account you
can use to browse and get matches, although you can’t message anyone without
Can I hide my Datefit profile?:
Yes! There’s an option in your
account settings to hide your profile, which prevents your profile from being
shown to the public without deleting your account.
Is there a Datefit app?
There is a Datefit app!!! It’s actually the only way to access the site.
I know I seem too excited over something that is so common, but honestly, I've
been checking out A LOT of dating sites that don't have one and I love browsing
on the go. Not only can the app be downloaded by both iOS and Android users, BUT
Datefit just released an updated version of it! The upgrade is available now for
iOS users and will be rolling out the new upgrade for Android members soon, so
What’s the sign up & registration process for Datefit?
🐇Super quick! Less than 5 minutes.
Signing up with Datefit was very easy and quick! It was mostly clickable
questions which made it go fast, and just a few fill in the blank type
1. Datefit's signup process starts by downloading the app for your device. I
read the Terms of Service, then click on "Create An Account".
2. I’m required to enter my phone number - which I'm fine with as long as I
don't get any spam texts. No option to use your email even though it asks for it
later. Sorry bbs.
3. After I enter my digits, I move on to the next step to confirm my phone
number - which is a great security feature!
4. After I confirm my #, I enter my name - FYI it will be shown to the public,
so don’t be shy, and use a nickname if that’s what you prefer!
5. I add my email address - it's required even though you can’t use it to sign
6. Datefit wants my DOB and I can enter a promo code if I have one.
7. I create a complicated password to protect my new account.
8. I choose whether I want to date people or make fitness friends - I can also
change this at any time, so don’t think too hard about it!
9. I make it clear if I'm a man, woman, or transgender.
10. I say who I'm interested in: men, women, or both.
11. I say what my # 1 life goal is…. Does finding a lifelong partner count??
12. Before this screen, it mentions that I need to enable location services to
see local matches. Then, I choose my fave pic which I can change at any time.
This will be the pic that all my potential matches see, so it's gotta be good!
With a few easy steps, I'm done with the signup process!!
The Datefit main feed
I'm dropped into the main feed where I'm able to:
- See the matches that Datefit has picked for me (50 per day), then give them
the thumbs up, thumbs down, chat (if you have a paid account) or undo if I
didn’t mean to swipe them away!
- Toggle between finding a date or a friend.
- Search by male/female or everyone.
- Filter by location.
- View notifications.
Because this is a mobile app only fitness dating app with limited features
overall, the main feed is fairly simple.
What are the Datefit profiles like?
Datefit profiles are high quality with just enough info to not leave me feeling
overwhelmed. FYI - the person's whole face was showing, but I had to crop it to
show the rest of the profile. Here's what I was able to view on someone's
- Their photo(s).
- Their name.
- Their occupation.
- Their number one life goal.
- How far away they are from me.
- Fitness interests, way of life, dietary preferences.
- I can flag their profile.
Interestingly enough, I can’t chat with anyone directly from their profile, only
if they show up as a match for me.
On my own profile, I could add everything I mentioned above, as well as:
- Occupation and where I work.
- A description of myself.
Of the profiles I came across, it’s clear there were people all across the
fitness spectrum. Some looked like super fit gym rats, and others seemed like
they were a bit earlier in their journey (like me!)
Search capabilities for Datefit
Search filters, and 50 algorithmic matches daily.
Searching for the right one is sometimes exciting and sometimes, well,
exhausting! The search capabilities were a little limited to what I'm compared
to, but here's what I could search by:
- Male, female, or everyone.
- Friend or finding a date (these are two separate areas of the app)
- If they have a pic.
Aside from that, I can let the algo gods bring me matches. As I mentioned
earlier, Datefit will bring me 50 matches per day to swipe through and I can
control the types of matches I’m looking for in my account settings.
Under the “Who I’m Looking For” section of my settings, I could choose from,
- Gender identity (which was fairly limited - men, women or both.)
- Age range.
- Preferred height range.
- Max distance from me.
- Fitness interests.
- Way of life interests. (ie, Fashionista, Free Spirit, Day Dreamer, Brand
- Dietary interests.
Is the Datefit app free?
Datefit is full of healthy, fit members AND free - is there anything this app
can't do?! Unlike some free memberships, I was able to try the site out enough
to determine if it was worth paying for – minus chatting with potential matches
I’m interested in.
Free vs. paid membership for Datefit app
Datefit provides options with their app so you can either try out the free
version and stick with that, or you can splurge for their Premium membership.
Which one you decide to use is obvi up to you, but I can help make your choice a
little easier if you keep reading my Datefit review!
Features of free membership for Datefit
Free is always fun, and it's even better when you can REALLY explore the site
and use certain features. Sometimes free memberships are very restricting - not
on Datefit! I was able to check out a fair amount of the Datefit app and its
features without having to give any credit card info.
Here's what I could for free:
- Check out Datefit's Daily Workout - where all the action is!
- Like people's pics and posts.
- Receive up to 50 matches.
- Find a workout friend with the "Find Friends Through Fitness" feature.
- Boost my profile (for 2 hours!) for extra views.
While most dating apps make you pay for a boost, I was surprised this was free.
Features & cost of Premium membership for Datefit
Ranging from $5.75 to $12.99/month.
I was happy with Datefit's free membership, but I was even happier with the
Premium membership! Here's what I could do for some cash:
- Free profile boost every day.
- See who liked my profile or pic.
- Unlimited undos in case I accidentally swipe on the wrong person – oopsies!
- Limitless matches.
- Send messages and date requests to those I’m interested in.
So what about that cash I mentioned? Here's the breakdown of what Datefit's
Premium membership costs:
- 1 month for $12.99/month.
- 3 months for $9.99/month (paid up front).
- 12 months for $5.75/month (paid up front).
The price at 3 months is fairly reasonable compared to other dating sites,
however it doesn’t feel like you get many additional features. Still, at least
it’s fairly low cost to chat with matches,
the boosts are
something platforms typically charge for, so getting a free boost a day is
What sets Datefit apart?
I like a bit of an edge that makes an app stand out from the crowd… and Datefit
had a few unique things about it that helped it do just that! Here are my fave

I can apply for them to take care
of the planning and cost of my first date if I match with someone!
Simple features:I don’t mean this in a bad way – this app
isn’t convoluted with a lot of features that make it difficult to match with
others. It’s fairly straightforward.
Free accounts can boost their profile, and
also earn boosts by inviting friends.
Dating or friendships:
Datefit can be used to find a

I have a habit of drinking wine while swiping

Pros and cons of Datefit.com
Another important part to deciding whether or not to buy into a dating app
(besides the cost and features!) is knowing what the pros and cons are. The
Datefit app has a lot to like about it, but it might not be for everyone, so
I'll break down the good, bad, and everything in between.
👏What I liked about Datefit
I love the whole concept of Datefit and how it combines health and
relationships! Here's what else I liked about the Datefit app:
- I could find a date
or a friend to work out with - everyone
seemed fit and healthy for the most part! The best part was I could choose to
leave my dating profile active while checking out the friends side, and vice
- There were several different ways to meet people – they give you 50 matches
per day or you can manually search yourself.
- Free boosts for more visibility on your profile.
- The potential matches I came across did look like they prioritized a healthy
- Recently updated Datefit app for iOS users; will be rolling out an app
upgrade soon for Android users.
- Pricing was reasonable.
👎What I didn’t like about Datefit
Ya win some and ya lose some, right? Datefit was a fun app to use, but it fell
short in a few places. Here's where Datefit could do better:
- The app is a little confusing to navigate, despite not having that many
- Profiles don't have much info on them. For example,
Singles lets me see a potential match’s top 3 favorite activities and skill
level, plus any number of other physical activities they enjoy – there’s an
- Can't direct chat with others w/o paying up first, and with a Premium
account you don’t get too many extra features.
- Small user base.
- Limited search filters compared to other dating sites.
So, final thoughts for my Datefit review?
The Datefit dating app was one of the most modern ones of the health inspired
and fitness dating sites I've been checking out. I was reading some of the
Datefit reviews and they mentioned that the Datefit app used to glitch out all
the time (I'm guessing this was before the app upgrade), but I didn't experience
any technical issues with the app. I also love how I'm not just limited to
finding a date; I can also find a fitness buddy to workout with, and if
something more happens, then even better!!
As far as how active it was, I did get 8 users liking my profile and interacting
with it overnight when I first signed up, but that still feels a bit light
compared to other sites. Considering its niche with a smaller user base, it may
take a bit of time to get some good matches and convos going on. It’s low-cost
enough to give it a shot for a month or two!
