Best Online Dating Sites for Christians in 2026: Ranked
The best online dating sites for Christians in 2026 are HOLY if you want the safest faith-only app (every profile is reviewed by a person and selfie-verified), Ark if you want a Christian-built app with unlimited free messaging and denomination filters, and Upward if you want the biggest pool of believers. Pick Higher Bond for slow, curated matches, CDFF if you never want to pay, and Christian Mingle or ChristianCafe if you prefer a classic dating site over a swipe app.
Below: the ranking, what each one really costs today, whether two free members can actually talk, what “verified” means on each, who owns them, and straight answers to the questions people ask most (most users, most conservative, best over 50). 1. HOLY: best overall Christian dating app
HOLY is the one faith app where every member has been checked twice before you see them. Its App Store listing says every profile is reviewed by a real person, selfie verification is required, and there is no swiping: each day you get a selection of Christians near you, you “wave”, and if they wave back you can chat. It is open to anyone who confesses Jesus as Lord and the Nicene Creed, so Catholics, Orthodox, Evangelicals and nondenominational believers share one pool. You can choose dating, friendship or both.
It has the best reputation in the category: 4.7 stars from 35K ratings on the App Store and 4.5 stars from 1.62K reviews on Google Play (10K+ downloads), checked October 2026. It is free to use, with no ads; the optional Supporter plan (listed from $17.99 to $119.99) adds a list of all the waves you received, 48-hour history, priority messages and read receipts.
The catch: it is run by a married couple and one helper, by their own description, and its Android audience is small. Expect fewer profiles than on Upward, especially outside cities. Some top-ranking lists call HOLY iPhone-only; that is out of date, the Android app is live on Google Play. Visit HOLY.
2. Ark: best Christian-built app with free messaging
Ark calls itself “unapologetically Christian” and is made by a Christian company, Ark Dating, Inc. Its big selling point is money: per Ark’s free vs premium page, free members get unlimited matches and unlimited messages. Paying (First Class) adds “See who liked you”, advanced filters, travel mode, privacy mode and read receipts. Its App Store listing describes “Bible Verified” profiles checked with AI and human review, filters for denomination, church attendance, marital history and family plans, and matches that expire if nobody writes.
Ark has 4.6 stars from 9.4K ratings on the App Store and 4.3 stars from 4.81K reviews on Google Play, with 100K+ downloads (October 2026). First Class is listed at $14.99 a week, $24.99 a month, $44.99 for 3 months and $59.99 for 6 months.
The catch: it is still a swipe app (swipe up to like, down to pass), the Android version shows ads, and App Store reviews mention a thin pool in many areas. One more thing to know: the Ark article that ranks near the top of Google for this search is written by Ark’s own marketing team and puts Ark first, so read it as a brochure. Visit Ark.
3. Upward: best for the biggest pool of believers
Upward is the most popular app in the category by far: 4.3 stars from 162K ratings on the App Store and 1M+ downloads on Google Play (3.8 stars from 49.1K reviews). It works like a mainstream swipe app: match, then chat free. Its safety step is serious: Upward requires a video selfie Face Check, which gives you a Photo Verified badge.
Two changes the top-ranking lists miss. Upward’s App Store description now sells a “values-first community” for people who want marriage, without the word Christian. And it added an opt-in Chivalry Mode, open to verified members with a complete profile, where men are expected to make the first move. Paid tiers are Premium, Elite and Platinum; “Who Likes You” starts at Elite, per Upward’s subscription options.
The catch: it is owned by Match Group, the company behind Tinder, and it feels like it. If you want a faith-first community rather than a big swipe deck, start with HOLY or Ark. My Upward review covers the tiers in detail.
4. Higher Bond: best for slow, curated dating
Higher Bond says it sends 3 to 5 curated matches a day instead of a swipe deck, verifies every account and photo by hand, and is 100% Christian owned. Its pricing page has the fairest free rule in this list: every member, free or paid, can reply to messages. Paying only adds the right to start new conversations, see all of someone’s photos and read the more personal parts of a profile, such as testimony and children. On the website, Premium is $26.95 for 1 month, $56.85 for 3 months, $14.95 a month on the 6-month plan, and a $59 lifetime plan on sale. Nothing is refundable.
The catch: it is small: 4.2 stars from 692 ratings on the App Store and 10K+ downloads on Google Play. Read my Higher Bond review before buying the lifetime plan.
5. CDFF: best free Christian dating site
Christian Dating For Free has been running since 2006 and its FAQ says it “does not ask for payment information” to use the general features. The optional Elevate upgrade removes ads, shows last-login dates and puts you at the top of searches; it renews automatically and is not refundable. On the App Store, Elevate is listed at $19.99 or $23.99 a month, with sale prices from $11.99.
It has the biggest public footprint of the small faith sites: 1M+ downloads and 3.5 stars from 37.7K reviews on Google Play. The catch: no verification badge, and the FAQ says plainly that CDFF “does not conduct a criminal background check”. See my CDFF review.
6. Christian Mingle: best known name, best for older singles
Christian Mingle is the brand everyone has heard of, and its homepage still calls itself the largest Christian dating site. Free (Basic) members can send 10 Likes a day, see 3 Recommended Picks and message anyone after a mutual Like, per its Basic vs Premium page. Its selfie profile verification is optional and earns a blue shield badge.
Premium is the most expensive plan here: $49.99 for 1 month, $104.99 for 3, $149.99 for 6 and $179.99 for 12 months on the App Store, where the current app has 3.6 stars from only 423 ratings. On Google Play it has 2.0 stars from 290 reviews. Its refund policy says all purchases are final. The catch: you pay a lot for a brand name; start on the free tier and pay only if you see active members near you. My Christian Mingle review has the details.
7. ChristianCafe: best free trial on a paid site
ChristianCafe has connected Christians since 1999 and says it is “proudly Christian owned and operated”. Its App Store listing offers a 10-day free trial in which “you can communicate for free, not just view your matches”, which makes it the easiest paid site to test properly. After that there is no free tier: one month is listed at $39.99 or $44.99, a year at $109.99 to $119.99.
The catch: 2.2 stars from 55 App Store ratings and 100K+ downloads on Google Play, so the pool is small. Use the trial, then decide. More in my ChristianCafe review.
What Christian dating sites really cost in 2026
None of the top-ranking lists show current prices, and most of these sites hide them until you sign up. The App Store listing is the one public, current source. Lowest listed prices on each US App Store listing (Higher Bond also from its pricing page), before tax. Prices checked October 2026.
| Site | 1 month | Longer plans listed | Refunds |
|---|---|---|---|
| HOLY Supporter | Shown in the app only | Listed from $17.99 to $119.99 | Through Apple or Google |
| Ark First Class | $24.99 | 1 week $14.99, 3 months $44.99, 6 months $59.99 | Through Apple or Google |
| Upward Elite | $19.99 or $29.99 | 1 week $17.99 to $21.99, 3 months $44.99, 6 months $71.99 | Through Apple or Google |
| Higher Bond Premium | $24.99 (app), $26.95 (web) | 3 months $56.85 (web) or $44.95 (app), 6 months $71.90 (app), lifetime $59 | No |
| CDFF Elevate | $19.99 or $23.99 ($11.99 on sale) | 3 months $18.99 to $24.99, 6 months $25.49 to $39.99 | No |
| Christian Mingle Premium | $49.99 | 3 months $104.99, 6 months $149.99, 12 months $179.99 | No, all purchases final |
| ChristianCafe | $39.99 or $44.99 | 3 months $59.99 to $69.99, 6 months $89.99 to $99.99, 1 year $109.99 to $119.99 | No |
Two things the price tag hides. Longer plans are charged in one payment, so Christian Mingle’s year is $179.99 upfront. And every paid plan here renews automatically: turn auto-renewal off the day you subscribe, and if you paid in the app, cancel in your Apple or Google account, not on the website. Apple often lists the same plan at several prices because of promotions, so trust the checkout screen.
Can two free members actually talk?
Every Christian dating site says it is free to join. The question that matters is whether you can have a conversation without paying, and the answer varies more than any other feature:
| Site | Free messaging rule | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Ark | Unlimited messages after a match | Ark free vs premium page |
| HOLY | Chat after you both wave | App Store listing |
| Upward | Chat after a mutual match | App Store listing |
| Christian Mingle | Chat after a mutual Like, 10 Likes a day | Basic vs Premium page |
| CDFF | Free messaging, with ads | CDFF FAQ |
| Higher Bond | Reply free, but only Premium can start a chat | Pricing page |
| ChristianCafe | Only during the 10-day trial | App Store listing |
If you never want to pay, Ark, HOLY and CDFF let you date for free for as long as you like. If you will pay once things look promising, start on the free tier of any of them before you spend anything.
What “verified” means on each Christian dating app
Scammers love faith apps because trust comes easily there. Verification is the clearest difference between these sites, and it is not the same thing everywhere:
- HOLY: required selfie verification plus a manual review of every profile.
- Upward: required video selfie (Face Check) for everyone, which also checks that no other profile uses your face. Some lists say Upward has no verification; its own help center says otherwise.
- Ark: “Bible Verified” profiles, checked with AI and human review, per its App Store listing.
- Higher Bond: says it approves accounts and photos by hand before you get access.
- Christian Mingle: optional selfie check with a blue shield badge. Look for the badge.
- CDFF and ChristianCafe: no verification badge; CDFF runs no background checks.
Who owns the Christian dating apps
Many Christian singles care whether the company is run by believers, and the top results fight about it. Here is what the official listings show:
- Christian-run: HOLY (United Young Inc., a married couple), Ark (Ark Dating, Inc.), Higher Bond (Obods LLC, which says it is 100% Christian owned) and ChristianCafe (RealCafes.com Inc., “proudly Christian owned”).
- Secular companies: Upward is published by Affinity Apps, part of Match Group. Christian Mingle’s App Store seller is still Spark Networks, Inc., but its own help center now says it is “part of Black Cap”. One brand-owned list in the top results warns that Christian Mingle’s parent is in insolvency hearings; the help center, updated October 2026, shows the brand still operating under new ownership.
- Independent: CDFF is run by E Dating For Free, Inc.
Ownership does not decide whether you meet someone kind. It does decide who sets the rules on photos, ads and pricing, so it is a fair tiebreaker.
Upward or Christian Mingle?
For most people, Upward. It has a far bigger audience (162K App Store ratings against 423 for the current Christian Mingle app), a required video selfie, free chat after a match and a cheaper month ($19.99 or $29.99 against $49.99). Pick Christian Mingle if you are older, prefer browsing profiles to swiping, and want a site you can use on a computer.
Which Christian dating app has the most users?
No company publishes an audited count of active members, so the honest proxy is the app stores. By that measure Upward is far ahead: 162K App Store ratings and 1M+ Google Play downloads. CDFF (1M+ downloads, 37.7K Play reviews) and HOLY (35K App Store ratings) follow. Christian Mingle also shows 1M+ downloads on Google Play, but its current iPhone app has only 423 ratings, so treat its “largest” claim with care.
What is the most conservative Christian dating site?
None of them labels itself conservative, but a few are clearly built for traditional believers. HOLY asks members to confess the Nicene Creed and paces the app with scripture reminders. Higher Bond reviews photos by hand and keeps a no-swiping, few-matches-a-day model. ChristianCafe has been a classic, profile-based, Christian-owned site since 1999. Ark lets you filter by church attendance and lists politics among its lifestyle preferences. And on Upward, Chivalry Mode is the opt-in space for traditional courtship, where men make the first move.
Best Christian dating sites for people over 50
The Christian guides in the top results agree that Christian Mingle skews older, and both it and ChristianCafe work like classic dating sites, with a website as well as an app. CDFF is the budget pick, running since 2006 with 1M+ Google Play downloads. HOLY welcomes every age and its daily introductions are easy to use. If you also want mainstream options with many older members, my best dating apps over 50 ranking covers them.
Catholics and denominations
If you want to date inside your own tradition, filters matter. Ark filters by denomination, from Catholic and Orthodox to Baptist, Pentecostal and nondenominational. HOLY welcomes all denominations that confess the Nicene Creed. Catholics who want a Catholic-only pool can look at CatholicMatch: 3.9 stars from 4.6K ratings on the App Store, with Premium at $29.99 a month, $89.99 for 6 months or $119.99 a year (October 2026).
Mainstream apps that work for Christians
You do not have to use a Christian-only app, and some Christian guides in the top results recommend Hinge first. Hinge lets every user, free or paid, filter by religion, per its preferences guide, and you can make the filter strict so you only see Christians or Catholics. The trade-off: a much bigger pool, and more work to tell who actually lives their faith. My Hinge review rates it 4.5 for relationships. eHarmony is often mistaken for a Christian site; it is a secular, marriage-minded service, and my eHarmony review covers it. Tinder is the one the Christian guides in the top results tell you to skip.
Other Christian apps you will see in lists
- SALT: an app made “for Christians by Christians”, 4.3 stars from 2K ratings on the App Store, free to match and message, subscriptions listed from $28.99 a month.
- ChristianCupid: a Cupid Media site where, per its help center, a free member cannot read or reply to messages from another free member. Only if you are open to dating abroad; see my ChristianCupid review.
- CrossPaths and Eden: smaller apps that appear in some lists. I have not reviewed them, and I would start with the ranked picks above.
How I ranked them
Each site gets a score from 1 to 5 on five points: value for money, safety and verification, evidence of an active user base, features for Christian daters, and transparency on pricing, renewal and cancellation. The ratings are based on public information read in October 2026: pricing pages, help centers, terms, App Store and Google Play listings. They are not based on hands-on use. Where I have a full review, its rating is reused. HOLY scores 4 for its required verification, free chat and reputation, held back by a small Android audience; Ark scores 4 for free unlimited messaging and faith filters, held back by ads and a thin pool in many areas.
How to choose and use a Christian dating app well
- Under 40 near a city: Upward for numbers, HOLY or Ark for a faith-first pool. Running two at once is fine.
- Small town: widen your distance. Location-based apps thin out fast outside cities, and a bigger app with a religion filter may serve you better.
- Hate swiping: HOLY or Higher Bond.
- Tight budget: Ark, HOLY or CDFF, all free to message.
- Ask about faith early: a profile that says Christian does not tell you how someone lives it. Questions like “Have you found a church you love here?” or “Did you grow up in church or find faith later?” sort that out quickly and kindly.
- Use the free tier for two weeks before you pay anywhere. Count the active, nearby people who share your faith and your goal.
Safety: romance scams on Christian dating sites
A faith label does not keep scammers out; they borrow the language of prayer and God’s plan. The FTC’s page on what to know about romance scams describes the pattern: they move you off the app quickly, live far away or overseas so they can never meet, then have an urgent crisis and ask for money by wire transfer, gift cards, a payment app or cryptocurrency.
- Prefer verified profiles (HOLY, Upward, Ark, Christian Mingle’s blue shield).
- Keep the chat in the app and ask for a video call before you get attached.
- Never send money or gift cards to someone you have not met. CDFF’s FAQ says it in capitals.
- Meet in public the first time and tell a friend where you will be.
- Report the profile in the app and at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
Frequently asked questions

Is there a Christian dating site that is completely free?
