What is Pure app?

Pure app is a dating platform where people can post personal ads to find others with similar interests, wants, and needs. While Pure might market itself as a dating platform, it's really more of a well designed hook-up site that focuses on anonymous casual exchanges. Unlike most apps, there is no algorithm here to keep the theme of spontaneous sex unless you take part in Devil’s Bones. (More on that soon!)

The Pure dating app originally rolled out in the U.S. in October 2013 as a low-budget project that quickly turned to a viral hit. It was first developed by a Ukrainian-founded company in Cyprus, called Misterico Limited before it caught the attention of writer and sexologist Carol Queen. Carol Queen supported the project, added her own graphics and concept to the app, and the rest is history!

Who is Pure a good dating app for?

Most of the users are between the ages 25-40, with 67% identifying as male, 30% identifying as female, and 3% non-binary. A large portion (70%) are straight, with 20% identifying as bisexual, and the remaining percent making up a combo of gay, lesbian, asexual, or queer members.

Don’t worry if you’re outside of the oldest range here, as there’s plenty of 40+ as well.

The Pure dating app is a good fit for:

How does Pure dating app work?

The Pure app works very quickly! After you sign up, you post a “personals ad” with text and photos. (Remember Craigslist? But better.) This is essentially where you can sell how awesome you are and why someone would want to hook up with you! You won’t be able to see anyone else’s ads on Pure until yours is live, so make sure you do it ASAP.

Make sure you have your profile and turn ons all set up and ready to go, too.

Then basically, once you find a match, you have 24 hours to connect with that person. Once the 24 hours have expired, the chat disappears completely unless you both want to shut off the chat timer. Once the chat timer is disabled, both you and your match will receive a random nickname to stay anonymous while you carry on with your convo.

You can also play Devil’s Bones where Pure decides who to match you with, which is a bit more fun than browsing personals ads. Aside from that, Pure deletes accounts every 24 hours to preserve anonymity, so you’ll have to sign up again if you want to use the app.

Is Pure dating app legit?

Pure dating is a legit way to meet people from all over. It definitely makes safety and anonymity a priority, and unlike most dating apps, you don't even need to add a pic if you don't want to. Some may get frustrated that their messages disappear after 24 hours, but it actually adds another layer of security and makes it easier to avoid any creeps you match up with.

Some Pure app reviews mentioned that they didn’t have any luck on the platform, but it’s all about how you approach it. If you’re looking for a long-term relationship right off the bat, this may not feel very legit to you.

✍️ The tl;dr on Pure dating

First impressions: My first impression of the Pure app was it's fun, visually appealing, but can be a lil’ confusing to figure out at first (at least for me). Here's what else I discovered about the app:

✅Best for casual hookups.

✅Completely anonymous - unless you don't want to be!

✅The layout makes it really fun to use and the ad idea is unique.

✅Being able to search via personals ads, or by being matched with Devil’s Bones is a fun way to find a hottie.

✅Women can sign up free, men have to pay.

✅Accounts are not permanent – every 24 hours, a new one has to be created, which helps security/anonymity.

Do you have to pay for Pure dating app? For women you don't have to, but men do (with the option of a 3 day free trial first!). There's also an option to purchase in-app features.

Does Pure dating do profile verification? I couldn't find a way to verify my profile, I even went through some Pure reviews and couldn't find anything.

How to delete Pure dating app: it's pretty easy to delete your Pure account! Start by clicking on settings, go to general, click on delete account, and then confirm!

Can you send nudes on Pure? You can’t use them in your personals ad, but you can send them in chat!

How to delete Pure account: Pretty simple tbh. You can go to “Settings” then “My Account/ID” then “Delete Account.” You’ll lose all the info from your account (chats, etc) so be sure to grab anything you want to keep.

Will Pure cancel on its own after deleting: From what I understand, no! You have to go through and cancel your subscription in either the Google Play or iOS settings.

What's the signup process for the Pure app?

I never thought I'd say this, but this sign up process for Pure.app was a lot of fun! The layout and design were exciting and interesting - I was actually looking forward to the next sign up step.

Speaking of steps, let's take a look at what they are:

1. As soon as I opened the Pure app, it took me through a trippy lil graphic that immediately caught my attention - talk about a first impression! I downloaded the Pure app for my iPad so I had 2 options to sign up - through Apple or Facebook. I could also download the Pure dating app through Google Play or via Huawei.

   

2. I have 3 choices when it comes to choosing my gender:

   • Man
   • Woman
   • Non-binary

   

3. I can confirm my gender here as well as choose my sexuality. Here's the options:

   • Hetero
   • Bi
   • Lesbian
   • Queer
   • Asexual

   

4. I get to pick my turn ons - what a fun question! Each turn on comes with a cute lil’ description and drawing. I'm not sure about the guys on here, but I was able to choose at least 13 turn ons!

   There's a lot of options, so here's just a sample of what I could pick from:

7. I tried to take a pic of the main feed, but Pure has safety procedures which prevents me from doing that, and instead gives me this creepy pic as a warning.

   

   The feed here is personalized according to what I signed up with, my location, and what I’m looking for! It’ll show who is nearby and who is online, in case I’m looking for someone ASAP.

   They’re pretty simple because the emphasis is on the personals ad, turn ons, as well as matching via the game!

Searching for members on Pure app

I dunno about you, but I know what I want and I don't like to waste time when it comes to the bedroom. I like to narrow my searches and was excited that I could filter by:

• Location
• Looking for
• New
• Turn-ons
• Age
• Height
• Language(s)
• Whether or not someone has photos

The nice thing about seeing “new” is that people new to the platform will show up there, whereas people who have been on Pure for quite some time earn the title of “Pure guru.”

☠️ What is Pure’s Devil’s Bones game?

Full disclosure!! I couldn’t take pics (no screenshots allowed) so these are general ones to show the game. Devil’s Bones is basically their way of matching you, speed dating style! I tried it out and it was super fun.

Devil’s Bones lets you “roll the dice” using your preferences, and start up an audio chat with someone! They may not even be local, they could be someone across the country. If you’re having fun, you can also do video chat with them, and if you get along well, progress to chatting outside of the game! Here’s the quickie version of how to use it:

1. Make sure you’ve entered your language preferences because the game won’t start til’ you add this.
2. Click on the fun lil’ dice icon at the bottom of the main feed or in the nav menu.
3. Pure will work its magic, and find a match! Once someone is found, a countdown screen starts, followed by a sound when a match is made.
4. Audio chat starts! You cando video chat, but I’d start with audio in case you don’t really vibe with whoever they match you with.
5. If you like each other, you can save the chat then continue talking outside of the game! (You’ll need “chips” to save the chat.)
6. If you don’t… just roll the dice and try again. Just like Vegas, baby!

Is Pure dating free?

For women - yes, for men - no. Men need to pay to basically use the app, and there are in app features to purchase! There is a 3 day trial available for men, so if you want to try it out and see if you like it, that’s better than paying right away.

As I mentioned, the Pure dating app is a little unique in the sense that the women don't pay, but the guys do…and from the Pure app reviewsI read, it's not too cheap. Let's find out for real…

Free features for Pure dating app

Luckily for me, women can do pretty much everything for free. I was able to:

• Create a “personals ad.”
• Send/receive messages with photos or videos.
• Play the Devil's Bones game.
• Send destructive pics to ppl.
• Access to the personals feed.
• Ability to set up my profile, add pictures, and keep a “private” album for spicy pics.
• Video calls and audio chats.
• Share my location (if you want to!)
• “Like” people (and if someone likes you too, it’ll open up a chat!)
• Incognito mode.

Pure.app cost and paid features

I identify as a woman, so the Pure dating app was free for me. I checked out some Pure app reviews to get an idea of the pricing tier and here's what I found men had to pay for (sorry, I couldn't find a pic of the prices!):

• $14.99/week
• $29.99/month

And here’s what this gave you feature-wise. You get all of the above plus,

• Sending gifts.
• Sending messages if you match in Devil’s Bones. (you’ll need “chips” for this but I couldn’t find pricing!)

What sets the Pure dating site apart?

With so many apps out there, it's easy for them all to blend together. Luckily, Pure knows this and threw us some shiny features to check out. Here's some of the Pure dating site/app features that set itself apart from the competition:

• Personal ads: Rather than focus on a profile, the Pure dating site emphasizes personal ads. I really like the old-school gritty feel of the personal ads, but you really need to make yourself stand out in order to get likes.
• Devil's Bones: This feature lets you have an anonymous audio chat (or video if you wanna get nasty) with the person you match with. The talk is completely anonymous which is a cool way of getting to know someone other than based on looks.
• 24-hour expiration: All Pure accounts are deleted after 24 hours, and all users need to create a new account in order to create a safe, anonymous, and secure way for people to connect.
• Self destructing pics: Regretting your drunken late night thirst trap montage? Well the good thing is that you can send pics that disappear once the person views it!
• No screenshots allowed!: As you can tell by my lack of screenshots, none of that is allowed in the app. This is great, because it helps protect privacy, but also… I can’t send anything to my girls group chat for opinions! 😭
• Anonymity: Highly focused on security and anonymity.

Pros and cons of the Pure dating app

There's always gonna be things that you like and dislike about pretty much ANYTHING, and Pure dating is no different. Sit down, pour yourself a glass of something delicious,and get ready to hear the good news….and the not so good news.

✅What I liked about the Pure dating app

Right off the bat, there was a lot that I liked about the Pure dating app. Here's what made me happy about the Pure app:

• Free for women - yay! (men have to pay, or have the option of using a three-day trial - seriously guys!)
• Modern design and layout with really cool graphics!
• High level of data security.
• I could send/receive pics that self-destructed after viewing.
• You can get your freak on anonymously.
• The match game (Devil’s Bones) was fun and kinda felt like ChatRoulette.
• Obviously “block” and “report” options.

🚫What I didn't like about the Pure dating app

There were a few things that Pure could do better. Here's what they were:

• Messages disappear after 24 hours - so use it or lose it!
• If you don't find a match, then you have to keep creating your profile as it will get deleted after 24 hrs.
• Fast paced. A little too fast for me…if I'm about to meet someone to hook up with, I'm gonna need more time to do my own investigative research 🕵️ (aka Google)!
• The in-app features are a bit pricey.
• Men have to pay to post an ad or respond to other ads.

So, final thoughts for my Pure dating app review

Pure is a really fun app for casual flings or even just a night of sexting. I really liked the audio chat and how anonymous everything is. I did have to hide my profile at one point since the majority of users are mostly men, but it was extremely easy to do and the chats kept me busy!

I did have some successful matches via Devil’s Bones and personal ads but nothing has stuck so far. Having to recreate my profile every 24 hours wasn’t quite my speed.

While dating on Pure is nothing like its name, it is a lot of fun! Even if I haven’t found someone soon, there doesn’t seem to be a limit on who I can connect with since I’m in a big city. I’ll keep on trying it out and report back later (maybe!!). If you’re looking for someone to hook up with locally and enjoy chatting outside of just text, Pure is for you!
