Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from the super relationship-y dating apps and just have a fling. I figured what better place to continue looking to be…flung(?)... than Fling.com? You can bet your girl was ready to dive in and check out what was good and report back to you, so if you’re looking for Fling reviews you came to the right place.
Fling.com claims to have over 49+ million members from the US only looking to hook up right now. The number is shockingly high (that’s like 15% of the country…) but I still liked those odds. Let’s jump right into the Fling.com review.
Let’s be real, we all know there are a lot of dating sites out there with some pretty sus profiles. During the signup process for Fling.com, they show that they won Best Dating Site from AVN Awards and listed out their “commitment to authenticity” which is a plus.
So what’s on the list?
Right off the bat it says they never create fake profiles and weed out people looking to sign up to spam other users. I honestly believe it because when I was dipping my toes in to check out the options, my first attempt at signing up was immediately shut down and the account disabled. Don’t get me wrong, I can pass the “not a robot” test, but it was nice that they shut it down when I hadn’t really filled out my profile in a genuine way from the beginning. This helped with the trust factor.
When I started over to make sure I was committed, I had no issue signing up and getting access right away. Knowing they followed through with monitoring signups made me more confident in this site than some previous reviews I’d read. It’s possible those Fling reviews are older or wrong, because the profiles I saw seemed legit to me.
If you’re in a hurry to fling, let me give you brief rundown of the Fling dating site:
Setting up an account on Fling.com: Honestly this process was super easy. You select Male, Female, or Couple, pop in your age and zip code (to pull up the local singles), then give them your email and make a password.
How to delete Fling.com account: Deleting your Fling.com account is pretty straightforward. If you go to Account Settings and select Deactivate My Account, the bottom option lets you delete your account, including data and profile removal, quickly and easily.
Temporarily deactivating: Fling.com gives you the option to temporarily put your account on hold. You have the option to deactivate your account temporarily, putting your membership on hold (removed from listings, etc. but not deleted).
Hiding and unhiding profile: Similar to Ashley Madison but unique compared to most other dating sites, Fling.com lets you hide your profile if you want. Choosing to make your account discrete makes it to where only you and the people you’ve connected with can see your profile.
Fling.com match game: I love a dating site with a fun “hot or not” style match game. Fling.com makes it easy to swipe through users in your area and see if you connect. The more profiles you rate, the higher up in line you show up on the Match Game.
If you’re still with me, let’s dive into Fling.com a little bit more.
Making an account at Fling.com was super simple. The homepage looks nice and wasn’t sketch, so that was the first plus. There was a clear button to join for free.
1. Choose who you are: You start by saying if you’re a male, female, or a couple (the last part isn’t for me, but a plus for swingers looking for hookups).
2. Age and zip code: Next up is your age and zip code so you’re matched with the right local flingers.
3. Enter email: After that, I just had to put in my email, choose a password, and complete an “I’m not a robot” test and I was in.
Well. Kinda.
So, once you’ve put in your info to create a Fling.com account, it takes you right to a profile builder. The next couple screens go over some of the usual types of things you’d expect: adding pictures (you have to have one in order to have an active account on Fling), telling them who you’re looking for (men, women, trans people, couples, etc.), and what kind of fling you’re looking for (casual sex, threeseomes+, open to a relationship, and more).
They also asked a couple questions about what I like to do. The first option on a relatively short list was “smoke lil weed” which (like other sites) lets you choose, and match with, people who match what you enjoy in your spare time to relax.
Here’s where it got a little interesting for me, but in a good way. When I first tried signing up for a Fling account, I really just wanted to check the profiles and make sure the site was legit. Ladies, you know some sites are full of obviously fake profiles or skeevey dudes. I wasn’t filling out the profile in a normal way, so I’m guessing I set off their monitoring system to keep away bots and abusive users because it disabled my account!
After some of the sites I’ve checked out, this kinda gave me green flag vibes because at least they were following through on that list of promises about keeping off potentially fake accounts (although I’m pretty sure I’m not a robot).
Anyway, I started the process over and made sure I was being authentic and got through the whole signup process without a hitch.
It’s 2023, so dating sites without an app are usually dead in the water, right? We’re on the go, so I’d expect a site like Fling to have an app and they didn’t disappoint. That said, sorry Android users but the Fling.com app is only available for iOS at this time. Another win for the blue bubble baddies!
I did see a similarly-named app on the Google Play store, but apparently that’s a different hookup app (so many singles, so little time, right?) so just beware.
After setting up my profile, it was time to explore the site's search function and see how I could filter other users. Like any website, the Fling dating site lets you search a person’s age, sex, location, and other basic features like if they’re online now. But their advanced search filters allow users to refine their searches based on things like:
While you’d think for a hookup site you might not care about diving as deep into things as deep as religion, I could see where some people might be interested in income or profession.
One of the first things a lot of us girls wanna know is whether the site is free to use or if we have to pay for it. Fling.com claims its free to join, and it is. But is it free to really use? That’s a bit of a different story.
The answer is: sort of?
Fling.com allows users to sign up and create a profile without spending a dime, but the free tier is relatively limited in functionality beyond that. Communication options are restricted behind and paywall, and in order to start conversations, a paid subscription is required. So if you want to go anywhere here, you’re gonna need to pay up.
When you join a new dating site (or hookup site, I guess), you want to dive in and start talking to people. Unfortunately, with Fling.com you’re gonna have to pump the brakes just a little bit before that.
If you’re on a free account with Fling.com, you’re welcome to…
That’s kind of where it ends, though. In order to really connect or talk with anyone, you’ll need to buy credits.
A paid Fling.com membership isn’t like some other monthly fees charged by dating sites. Instead of a monthly membership, Fling.com deals in credits. They have three different tiers you can purchase, and the higher the tier, the lower the cost per credit comes out to be.
Each of the credit packages comes with unlimited free likes, comments, and the ability to vote on 200 profiles per day on the Match Game.
The lowest Fling.com credit package is called Standard and comes with 100 token. At this time, it’s $49.99 and comes out to 50 cents per credit. The Standard credit package at Fling also unlocks conversations and explicit profiles (the number of explicit profiles it unlocks isn’t listed—but I suspect it’s less than 83, which is the number unlocked by the next tier up).
The next tier up on Fling.com is the Choice credit package, which currently comes out to 40 cents per credit. It claims to be a 20% savings and unlocks 13 conversations and 83 explicit profiles.
I have to admit that the number of conversations and explicit profile unlocks feels a little random, and there didn’t seem to be any reason given for those numbers.
The highest-paid package on Fling.com is the Premium package, which breaks down to 34 cents per credit. This package also says it unlocks 25 conversations and 150 explicit profiles.
For a hookup site, Fling.com come feels pretty legit and I think you could probably meet some cool people on there to have a good time. Some of my biggest impressions were:
Fighting Fake Profiles: It’s no secret that a lot of hookup sites are full of fake profiles and catfishing to scam people out of their money. But the Fling dating app didn’t feel that way to me. And the fact that it disabled my first attempt to sign up because I wasn’t being authentic and really filling out the profile? That just helped me have a little faith that they actually stand by their promise to only allow real users on the site.
Credit Packages: I admit, I wish I could have had a few conversations, even if I had limited free messages, to try out the site a little more before paying for the credit packages. That said, their paid tiers seem to be on par with other websites and might be worth the money. I like that it didn’t make me commit to a monthly fee, so I could use credits at the pace I wanted to.
Match Game: I’m a fan of sites with a Match Game. It makes having a fling more fun! That’s what we’re on Fling.com for anyway, right ladies? I also like that the more you play, the higher up you show in other people’s Match Game. To me, that means you’re more likely to have some matches and find your fling.
Group Chat and Video Chat Options: Something that stood out to me as unique on Fling.com was their options for group chat and group or random video chats. Part of having a fling is meeting all kinds of new people, so I thought this was a cool feature that lets you meet tons of other people to have a good time online and really make the most of the website.
As I mentioned throughout the Fling review, all-in-all, I was pleasantly surprised. The signup process was easy, the website was simple to navigate, and I felt like they were actually doing something to keep out bots or abusive users. That goes a long way with me as someone who checks out a lot of dating sites.
With millions of users on their site, I feel like you’re likely to find a fling and get exactly what you’re looking for. Will it be true love? Probably not. But I bet you have a great time anyway. 😉
